Decent bang for buck

The bass needs to be turned way down on it but otherwise it performs admirably for the cost. Bluetooth was easy to set up on it and it pumps out a lot of sound. The design is a bit awkward as it has an odd hexagonal shape that makes it a bit overly wide.

Great while it lasted

I got this one based on good reviews. I've heard Vizio televisions are popular in the USA, I wasn't sure about their speakers. I used it for a 32" tv in my bedroom. I loved the design because it fit perfect for the space I have and there's no bulky subwoofer. I didn't want to wall mount my tv and as a stand it made the tv the perfect height for where I put it. Sound quality was pretty good, couldn't crank music too loud but great for movies. Then 7 months later it completely died. I changed batteries in the remote, made sure no issue with the plug etc ... speaker had no power. At the time of purchase I had also purchased extended warranty. Customer service at Best Buy was very helpful. They offered a full refund but I wanted it fixed or a replacement. The customer service representative ended up giving me a Phillips sound bar instead and since the Vizio completely died in less then a year he transferred the extended warranty to the Phillips. I'm happy and will continue to shop at Best Buy. Overall I wouldn't recommend this Vizio speaker to anyone looking to get one.

Good sound base for the cost

Bought one of these on-sale a couple of weeks ago and have been impressed with the sound so far. A lot of people complain that the remote stops working but this is a known issue and there is a firmware upgrade on the Vizio website to correct this. Make sure that the audio signal you are sending to the sound base doesn't already have the bass cranked really high as I suspect that this might be the reason for complaints about the booming. The LED display is also very good as long as the user takes the time to read the instruction manual and see what the various LED configurations mean. They show the volume levels as well as which input is being used, if the enhancements are turned on/off and whether or not a Dolby signal is being received.

Poor quality

The remote stopped working after 2 days, returned the unit and was given what I thought was another new model, but it turned out to be a floor model. The remote on that one also stopped working after 2 days. Good thing I had purchased the extended warranty as the store agreed to give me a full refund. Sound quality is improvement over my 32" flat screen tv speaker, but not great. Also, the unit does not automatically turn on when t.v. is turned on, so you have to use 2 remotes every time if you want sound from this unit.

Does not meet expectations.

Had to return first one as remote control stopped working after less than 2 days. Sound is improvement over 32" flat screen t.v. speakers but not great. Unit does not turn on automatically when t.v is turned on, as stated in manual. Not sure if it is because t.v. is connected to Rogers cable box. Good fit for our t.v. armoire as a regular sound bar is too long, but regular sound bar would produce better sound with separate sub woofer, which this unit does not have. Not sure we will keep it, will give it another week to decide.

Bass is horrible

I must admit that I was influenced by the reviews and I decided to take my chance. Well I can say without hesitation - stay away from it. If you just want some loud sound, than this unit is ok but nothing more than that. The bass sound is distorted and there is no way to remove it or adjusted. I lowered the bass to the minimum, I tried all the other options without success. Conclusion - this unit is a piece of plastic and nothing more.

Improvement from built in TV speakers

Although the product provided noticeably better audio quality than my tvs built in Harmon Kardon speakers, overall I was not that impressed with the sound. Simply put, it was not as crisp as I would have liked. I returned it.

Replacement for integrated flatscreen speakers

For the price, this speaker is phenomenal. We have very little space for any kind of sound system and for our small living room it is ideal. The room fills with clear, crisp sound and even though the bass is rather booming out of the box it can be turned down to a more suitable level. Along with the bass, the treble is adjustable too. I love the integrated Bluetooth technology for quick and easy syncing with laptops, tablets, phones, and other Bluetooth compatible devices - and being our only sound system we use this speaker for a "boom box" too (easily streaming stations like Songza as well as radio). It is a wonderful upgrade from tinny clock radios, non-adjustable bassy boom boxes, and terrible integrated tv speakers. Versus similar options within this category (both soundbars & soundbases), this speaker blows away the competition.

Very Good Product!

I am quite surprised with the quality of this sound system. I was thinking of the Bose system but am happy that I opted for the Vizio - excellent unit!

Great performance for price...

Some of the professional reviews on the web were harsh against this GREAT performing box. There is absolutely nothing in the price range that can compete against this unit. I used this in a decent sized home gym as the installed flat screen's sounds were very underwhelming. The S2121w-D0 provided very loud and clear sound with unbelievable bass (I'm still amazed at the sound output). The unit is bass heavy, but you can certainly turn the bass down. Physically, the box looks sleek and clean. I am thrilled with the purchase and strongly recommend if you are looking for a good performing unit for a medium sized room.

VIZIO 2.1 Channel Sound Base (S2121w-D0)

I must say this sounds just as nice as the Vizio Sound Bars we have. as we now have 3 in our home. We are very pleased with the sounding such easy hook up. 1,2,3 it's done... The sound with the options gives you what you want and as loud as you want. Good for us... Easy instructions, and your not reading it backwards like most. Worth the money......

It's not a Bose but it's good value

I would have preferred a Bose system but for the price it gives good sound. I was only interested in sound bars with an integrated sub for space reasons so options are limited. Worth buying for the budget and space conscious.

Good sound Great value

We've been impressed by this unit. It delivers good sound. Setup was easy. The unit is elegant and tucks in under our 42" TV. Great value..

Decent Sound system

Decent sounding unit and very easy to set up. Still trying to figure out how to set up the apple tv on it. Apparently you have to unhook the optical cable from the cable box and plug it in right into the apple tv each time you use it, only because the apple tv box does not any input for the sound base (haven't tried this yet, or have figured out any other way). The display is sometimes confusing because there are only dots that indicate what input it is on. Looks like most sound systems do not have a display. Overall very happy with the sound quality and have the system on all the time. The sound quality is a much richer sound . Apparently with the new slim tv designs, there is no room for decent speakers so that's why tv speakers are so poor on tv's.
