Western Digital I Cloud very Cloudy

Severely slowed our network down. After googling the we saw that others had the same problem and took it back the next day. Store wouldn't return it so we had to take an in store credit.

Quick and good

Im using it with my mac computers around and it dose the work. Just perfect and easy to set it up. My only disappointment is that, after the OSX 10.11 came out I had to wait weeks to get a new software to make it work. That just lame.

Decent drive

After reading other reviews I hesitated, but bought the drive in the end. The setup took less then ten minutes. I began uploads to the drive and the speed was as advertised. My connection was 802.11n on one unit, and it uploaded a six gigabyte movie file in 48 minutes. On another wired unit on a gigabit LAN, again received the same speed as transferring to another PC on the network. Price is good, the unit works well.

Stay Away

I never write product reviews but this device is absolutely the worse piece of equipment i have ever owned. On top of all the set up problems and abysmal transfer speeds it has now at 18 months old given the red light of death making my data inaccessible. Look on-line and you will see these are not uncommon problems.

Too slow

It was very good in the beginning, but now it is useless after a year only using about 30% of its capacity. It is too slow (less than 30 kb/sec) that makes it impossible. Do not store sensitive data on it.

Extremely slow and unreliable with zero support

No customer support. Drive typically runs in the 100-200kB range for transfer speed (yes, that's kilo-bytes). My old D-link on the same network is typically in the 30-50MB/s range.

Too slow

This drive is way too slow. Takes like an entire day and night just to transfer 250GB of data. Not something I expect from WD.

Slowest Trasfers of All Time

I have a similar drive from WD that is USB transfer only, and love it. I thought I would expand my storage, and rather than use my laptop to stream movies to my playstation and TV, I would use this. Wrong. First of all, you can only transfer files TO the device over the network. That's a little lame. The transfer rate is surprisingly slow. I'm not sure why that is, as I'm able to transfer the exact same files to other devices on my network at MUCH MUCH faster rates. Streaming from the DLNA server? Not worth trying to trouble-shoot this any longer for me. It's far to slow to continuously stream any video I try to play on it. I'm sticking with using iTunes or Windows Media Player to stream video from my laptop down to my TV. (Through the SAME network) SOMETIMES, this drive is accessible, sometimes it decides to take the day off. I'd return it if I could get my money back and buy something else. If you're reading this before purchasing, keep looking.

Good product

Don't know why people said it is slow I had a transfer rate at 50 to 70 Mb /s for big file copy and transfer, maybe they have a bad router mine is netgear 6200 n/ac speed. I had the 3tb one and no problem with it even when electricity shut down. Cons. Little bit slow with small file but still OK.

The description is misleading

Bought it online and was very displeased as the advertised features do not work. Save your money.

network problems

Love the idea of the hard drive on a network but after a few days it disconnects from network. Have do a reboot to connect again, to just disconnect at a later time again. And as others have said it has very slow transfer rate. Streaming movies works good, watched two different movies at the same with no problems

Should have read these review before buying

This is hands down THE worst equipment I ever bought. Accessing anything on a gigabit LAN is as slow as from remote. My subjective test results: copying large files to it on gigabit LAN...slow copying small files to it on gigabit LAN...slow slow moving files to it on gigabit LAN...slow slow moving files within itself on gigabit LAN...slow slow slow deleting files in it on gigabit LAN...slow slow slow reading large files from it on gigabit LAN...slow reading small files from it on gigabit LAN...slow slow remote access from iPhone or iPad...slow rename files on it on gigabit LAN...slow Backup (Windows 7) to it on gigabit LAN...died in the middle, for a few times All file operations from Mac including connecting to it on gigabit LAN...slow slow slow Files with non-English file names...slow slow slow slow slow Took 2 days to copy 2 GB of files to it, Windows and TimeMachine backup never completed for a few overnights. Took another overnight just to delete all my files before returning it. Should have better things to do in the holidays!!!
