Good laptop for home basic use

It has the latest processor so it is speedy , build quality is Ok , and certainly recommended home use .If one thing that this misses is a FHD screen , (considering how 4k and QHD are becoming standards ) and other thing missing is the usb type-c . Other than this missing things the Laptop itself is very good. Price, the only reason it is even worth the price is because of the latest generation intel procesors .

you get what you pay for

For the price, the quality of this laptop is not that great. Sure it runs well and the battery lasts a long time but the rest of it is very cheap. The keys are very springy and noisy, the track pad is very very touchy and very noisy, and the plastic casing makes it feel very cheap. it is difficult to find the sweet spot on this screen. from almost every angle the screen seems to have a faded area. there really is only one angle that you don't get this fading effect. i recommend that you don't buy this at full price. wait for a good deal. you get what you pay for. Also, the computer doesn't come with a word processor, so you will have to fork out more money for that.

Decent laptop with a few compromises

I purchased this one a month ago. Here's my take: Pros: 1. VMF. You get an i5 processor, 1TB HDD, 8 GB and a 15.6' machine for about a good price, whic hmakes it a good deal 2. Fast and smooth performance, decent front camera, large body 3. Some useful pre-installed applications 4. Bright screen 5. Not too heavy Cons: 1. No DVD drive. (yes that is still a con to me) 2. Plastic keyboard which will make you feel like you are using a really cheap laptop with all the weird noises it makes 3. Few keys (left shift, Del, Ins, Home etc) are smaller than usual and you have to search for them a bit 4. Speakers are placed underneath which is so very weird. Sound quality is bad to say the least. 5. No dedicated graphics card, so you can't expect to get very crisp visuals.

Critical Errors

Purchased it 5 days ago and it's going back to the store today. 5 critical errors in 5 days, not a good sign. Once the laptop actually starts up I have no issues with it. It's getting it started that's the problem.

Great value

Value for money one of the best. I have this laptop for almost 2 months and I am very happy with it. It will run office and a lot of softwear very easy. I play Civ 5 in medium settings without a lag. Only downside is battery.

Great Laptop

Returned a different laptop for this one and so far have no problems with it. The keyboard is a little odd, with the enter key and left shift key each split to have an extra key (look at photos), but I haven't had any issues typing like I thought I might. The screen and picture quality seem just fine to me and the sound can be turned up nice and loud. After the first charge I was able to unplug it and watch about 4-5 hours of tv and the battery was still at 50%. It runs nice and fast for me with tons of Firefox tabs, documents, and Evernote all open. I like the design and it doesn't get dirty or greasy looking from touching it like the first laptop I tried and returned did. It has 3 usb slots which is okay, I ended up getting a usb hub anyway because in addition to a wireless mouse I still usually have multiple usb sticks and an external harddrive to plug in. It runs very quietly and it doesn't feel warm at all.

Very Nice Specs, some small problems

It has an i5 processor, 1 TB hard drive and a nice keyboard, which make it great for normal use. The entirety of the laptop is textured, so it has a great feel and is probably better than other similarly-priced laptops. This is probably one of the cheapest laptops you can get with an i5 processor, and this is Skylake, so you can run some games if you'd like. The small problems with the laptop are low battery life and a lack of dvd drive, which are self explanatory design problems. The graphics card included is meant for Windows 8, so your card might crash sometimes, but you can probably use an application to upgrade the card to lessen card failure. Overall it has some issues but the value is great and I highly recommend this laptop.

Was apprehensive about buying an acer computer but was pleasantly surprised. Finish isnt as nice as some computers but the price and specs defenetly make up for that

Great for the price

Amazing for the price. I love the keyboard and design, acer has done really well this time. Processing is very fast and the 8gb ram is amazing. I use this for school and absolutely love it. The only problem i have, which a lot of people don't really care about, is being able to remove the HDD and battery easily. The laptop also stays very cool, and windows 10 works very fast.

Great product

I bought this laptop a few weeks ago on sale after my Sony from 6 years ago kicked the bucket. This has speed and runs all my programs. Seriously, the only tiny things is the number lock key doesn't have a little light and I have not yet found a way to make number-lock permanently on. The laptop is fast, keys are quiet, the finger pad works fine (thought I use a separate mouse anyways). The screen is very bright and no glare unlike the touch-screen counterparts. A future improvement would be a built-in back-lit LED keyboard. SO far a solid product, thanks!

Good price and design but some pitfalls

The laptop appearance is nice, and it's light (does not feel 2.4 kg) , the performance was ok until now ( after 3 weeks) but the wireless has been vanished for 2 times which I had to troubleshoot and fix it until it shows the networks again, the quality of the screen and sound is not the best compare to my old VAIO, so if these 2 features quality is important for you avoid this laptop overall the other things and working is good.

Low cost and high performance laptop

I bought this laptop about two months ago in boxing days. The CPU and GPU have a very good benchmarks. In the Specs it is mentioned that The RAM speed is 1066MHz while in computer properties is shown by1600MHz. It looks fine and thin enough to put easily in a laptop bag. The weight is somehow high but the charger is very light ans small. The wifi is great as well as the webcam which is skype certified. The dark side of this laptop is about the display, keyboard, weight and being hard to replace RAM or HDD. The display really sucks; specially in watching the videos in full screen youtube or any other HD movies. If you are a super fan of high quality movies, I would not recommend you to buy this laptop. The keyboard is bi-lingual and left shift and enter keys suck and you have to use to them. The bottom of laptop is unified and seemingly to replace RAM or HDD you have to open all of screws.

Very basic but good value for price

Ordered it online, BestBuy has the best, fastest delivery time. ok, so this computer comes with the basics which is good for a student or for home use. I made the mistake of purchasing this computer with the intent on using it as a work computer, but it had Windows 10 home and sorry but Microsoft does not make it easy to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro and so I returned it and bought an HP with Windows 8.1 Pro. Simple upgrade from 8.1 to Win 10 pro. Good value for the price, but no opt drive? come on Acer!

Good but not the best

Got this laptop Dec.31, 2015 . Good speed, love that it has Bluetooth. Was really surprised that it doesn't have DVD-CD drive! Num. lock doesn't have a light and I had problem to set it up to be on when rebooting the PC. The luminosity is not great also, if I compare with my Toshiba Satellite.

My Opinion

Price/performance excellent. Bang for the buck. Fast enough to make me happy. Comfortable functional layout. Appealing design. May be the touch pad is a little jerky, but that's normal for me - I can be a little jerky too.

Good but.

Only had this computer for a couple of weeks and I like it and Windows 10 so far. I have a sound problem on Firefox and it does not want to play utube videos properly. It plays videos posted on facebook ok, so might be a problem with firefox as they play on chrome and edge. Computer came with a bunch of bloatware that I don't want or need, but did not come with a mouse or an optical drive. Also there does not seem to be a way to replace the battery but do get good hrs out of the battery compared to my old laptop. I think it was a good buy on sale but not at full price.

Good Laptop

After shopping for a few months, I found this one with an i5 processor and 8gb of ram. I find it quite fast compared to what I am use to. Did not want some whimpy processor. Disappointed it did NOT have a DVD drive, as advertised when I placed my order. Now I have to buy an external DVD. Otherwise, I am happy. Got it for a good price on Boxing Day sale.

Great laptop for university students

This laptop is very light, has great battery life, and is really fast (I do a lot of streaming and downloading). My biggest issue is with the speakers. I bought it online without testing them out in store and am a little underwhelmed. The speakers are not as good as the Beats Audio ones in my last laptop, but are comparable to my roommate's hp laptop. Great laptop if you're looking for something well-rounded and basic, but efficient (word processing, internet, etc.) Also loving Windows 10, highly recommend the update!

Great value for the price

My son was looking to upgrade his current laptop. We did a comparison between a few models, and this was the best price with the most guts. We got it on sale during their Boxing Day sale, which made it even better!

Good price , but bad keyboard layout!

The price is Good! But I really do not know why ACER redesign the keyboard layout. The \ key moved to the left shift key, and left shift just half size, the up and down arrow key also shrink to half size..etc. So many bad design! I have to slow down and look at the keyboard again and again. BTW , the touch pad also not comparable with my previous ASUS laptop. Feels cheap.

Awesome

It's a great laptop, very fast, and I love the sleek design. It is quite lighter than other laptops as well. Overall I love the laptop, and it's battery life is really good as well. I have had this product for about two weeks and it's awesome. I bought it for mostly school use, but it's good for home as well.

Ordered the Acer Aspire E 15.6" Laptop - Black (Intel Ci5-6200U / 1TB HDD / 8GB RAM / Windows 10) Model #: E5-574-597Q Web Code: 10384247 on December 24, 2015 after 7 PM during the Boxing Day specials event. The web site indicated laptop INCLUDED a DVD optical drive but no RJ45 Ethernet port, the laptop was received WITHOUT the optical drive but did have the RJ45 port. Pro: Works well Con: No DVD optical drive as advertised

Good specs for the price!

After doing a great deal of research, particularly between the AMD10 vs Intel i5 processors and value for dollar, I decided to purchase this computer as a Christmas gift for my son who requires it for school work as well as online gaming. Of course, I had a 'test drive' with this 'puter, too! The computer itself is thin and sleek but sturdy, with an LED back-lit screen which is easy on the eyes. The keyboard is comfortable and a real improvement over Acer's cheap keyboards from a few years ago, where the keys popped out and were nearly impossible to replace. The only thing I don't like is the touch pad, which seems clunky compared to my older laptop, but I'm sure it's something one could get used to. The computer is quite fast with its i5-6200 series processor and the 8GB of RAM allows several applications to be open and running simultaneously with ease. My son has no issues playing online games - no lag, even on higher graphic settings, while also listening to music videos. The optical drive, although not used regularly, is still a convenient feature that many newer laptops ignore. All in all, I'd recommend this computer to anyone who wished to use it for myriad of functions, but doesn't want to fork out a ton of cash to do so. I'm very satisfied with my purchase and the only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is because we haven't had this computer long enough to determine the quality in terms of reliability over time.

Excellent!

The laptop has a sleek feel to it,has a good CPU, has good graphics that can run most modern games on at least medium, and includes Bluetooth. One thing that is bad is the battery life because it lasts only like 3-4 hours. Other than that the laptop is pretty good.
