Great tablet for travel!

Had this tablet for a while now and I love it! Having a regular USB port on the keyboard made the setup much easier by using a mouse. The keyboard and the touch screen both work great aswell. Battery lasts a long time, when you first get this you need to charge it for at least 8 hours for a full backup charge. Asus cloud gives you 1TB of space and MS Office for a year!

Really love this one

I really love this tablet. With full Windows 8 version.(not RT) it works well. It is fast and easy to use. The battery life is great. My daughter bought an HP laptop for the same price and it is very slow compared to this tablet. My only issue is the keyboard is so tiny it is sometimes hard to type especially with bigger fingers. I would highly recommend going to the 64g version instead of 32. After everything is loaded with Win8 and office for students, you have very little left of the 32g.

poor warranty

I bought this laptop for the convenience of travelling. I have it for less than 3 months and I use it no more than 10 times. Now, the on/off button is stuck and will not pop out.

After 30 years of various Microsoft editions... every computer, laptop and notebook I've had was able to play a DVD movie with the media player. Early heavy lap tops had DVD drives on board. But today anything over three pounds really is not that portable. My last 10 inch notebook was great. Attach my USB multidrive and playing DVDs was a snap. So, when I bought this ASUS Transformer, I thought I'd be a happy camper. One USB port... so okay, attach the external DVD - no problem. Install some of my favorite programs and I just love the think....seems the battery lasts forever. EXCEPT... it won't play a DVD movie unless I go and buy an "APP" from the Windows Store! BIG Disappointment. There will probably be others in the future...This one is so simple and unforgivable!!

Highly Rated Notebook/Tablet At An Afforadable Pri

The Asus T100TA notebook/tablet runs on the full version of Windows 8.1, rather than Windows RT (which can only run apps downloaded from the Windows store). So this 10.1" notebook can run the same applications that you're using on your desktop or laptop. Furthermore, this notebook's Z3740 Baytrail-T processor and 32GB of internal drive capacity allow these programs to run just as smoothly on this Asus notebook as they do on more powerful Windows devices. The battery will provide you with an impressive 10-12 hours of internet browsing. There have been problems reported regarding the excessive leaching of battery power during sleep or hibernation mode. This problem has been rectified by BIOS flash updates released as recently as June of this year. These BIOS updates can be downloaded from Asus' website and easily installed using the notebook's included flash installation software. There are also updates for the notebook's touchpad, which improves the touchpad's performance. The power on/off button (at the top left-hand side of the screen/tablet) can be a little finicky -- with the notebook beginning but not completing the power on cycle. You'll have to judge for yourself just how severe this problem is. It does not have a rear-facing camera or GPS. I found this notebook's most severe limitation to be the 32 GB capacity of its internal solid-state drive (SSD), which quickly gets filled with the installation of a few additional programs and printing software. In order to use this notebook's system recovery option you need at least 6.4 GB of available HD space. If you intend to use this notebook as a laptop replacement, I would recommend purchasing the version that has a 64 GB SSD. There is also a version of the T100TA that has a hybrid drive, this includes a 64 GB SSD and a 500 GB HDD. Personally, I don't think the hybrid option is really necessary, since you have the option of storing files on Google drive, Microsoft's Sky Drive or the Cloud based storage option provided by ASUS. Since this notebook has a full-sized USB port on the left-hand side of its keyboard, you also have the option of using a USB flash drive for additional storage.

Insufficient HDD space for windows 8.1

Poor product to start but once all the bios updates and microsoft updates it works good. Problem is there is only 32gb space on hdd(memory chips). Windows 8.1 doesnt allow to change the location of installed software such as the micro sd card. I have no space left and cannot load any programs. Windows updates used most of the space on hdd. Looks pretty, but is useless.

Great product

I was a little scared of buying this product due to the reviews here, but I have to say this is a great tablet!! I bet some of these reviews are fake, made out by the competitors! *recommended for sure*

It just works!

I bought my T100 on March 6th so I have had time to use it a fair bit. So far I am very happy with my purchase. It does absolutely everything I need it to do and I bought a 64 gb Micro SD so I have no storage issue whatsoever. I really think this is a game changer for the tablet industry. This is a production device that you can do actual work on and not just a toy like most Android/Apple tablets. I would highly recommend this product.

Worth Every Penny!

Like most people, I was a little hesitant to purchase the tablet after reading some of these reviews. After 2 2 months of ownership, I can honestly say I would recommend this tablet without hesitation. I was using a Samsung windows tablet, and that almost ruined me for Win8 and PC based tablets in general. I first turned on the Asus expecting much of the slow, laggy and often crashing performance of the Samsung. To my surprise, the Asus was fast, really fast. It boots up very quickly and programs launch immediately. There is no input lag from the touchscreen or keyboard dock. The screen is very good, especially for a budget minded tablet, the colours are accurate and the contrast is surprisingly good. I was so impressed with the tablet's performance, I tried to stress it out a little and install World Of Warcraft. I was getting 25-45 Frames per second! If you need a tablet with amazing battery life, full windows and office, great performance and speed then look no further. You will NOT be disappointed! If I had to pick a flaw, it would be that when you use the HDMI output, there is a little bit of lag between the main screen and the external screen.

Best windows Tablet for the bucks

I have read all these negative reviews. Wonder if people don't know how to use it or if they expecting high top performance from [price] tablets. I have not had any issue like mouse jumping, turning on and off. It has been working absolutely fine with no issues and i am able to do all of my basic computing work and enjoy the tablet experience. Good screen not the best to watch movies but hey you are getting laptop and tablet 2 in 1 in [price]. Still resolution is same you would get from regular [price] laptop. I think Asus has done a good job. Its obviously not for computer geeks who are going to criticize every nook and corner fof the tablet. it is for regular consumer who just wants basic things done. Forgot to mention i have also microsoft office on this and that works flawless. So Try and enjoy this little piece.. Worth every single penny...

Wish it worked

When it works this is a Fantastic device. I bought it on Dec 30 - 2013 and unfortunately I've had 2 of them die in 2 weeks on me. I do like the concept, but unfortunately it's proving to be an unreliable device. I'll be returning this and asking for my money back. I need something I can turn on and use.

Great Tablet if you can turn it on

After reading many positive reviews about this tablet, i gave it a try. Just like many other comments here, I cannot turn it on after closed the lid. The on button randomly chose to work. It took 12 hrs to charge only 20% of the power. Perhaps, the next generation of this product is a buy after ASUS fixes all these problems. For now, don't waste your time and money.

intermittent mouse and keyboard issues

while using the computer for a couple of hours, the mouse jumps to the bottom left corner to the start, and the keyboard suddenly stops functioning and requires to be detached and attached again.

Great hybrid!

I am so tired of android... so I got this one as a replacement tablet. Happy with it. Some people complain about some flaws. Well, even the most expensive workhorse PCs have flaws. And for it's size (and price), one should not expect too much. But then, it is really a very versatile and useful little device. I can easily connect to my home network files, movies, everything wherever I am.

Nice little tablet / netbook

I bought the Asus T100 on Cyber Monday. It is a nice little tablet which can transformed into a netbook together with the bundled keyboard. Due to the cheap price, I won't complain too much about the quality of the keyboard or the finger-prints & cheap plastic, etc. But I was quite annoyed with all those Windows 8 updates, Asus updates & even the need to flash BIOs right out of the box. After spending hours (& days) updating & flashing BIOs, I still have problem keeping the screen turn off after the lid is closed (& the tablet supposed to be in sleep mode). I have read a lot of reviews & I have already set the control panel so that the keyboard & mouse can not bring the unit out of "sleep"....but the screen will still turn itself back on a few seconds after the lid is closed. I wonder if other customers also have the same problem? Instead of setting to "sleep mode", now I have to shut down & reboot the tablet each time I close the lid. If other customers have found the way to turn off the screen (in sleep mode) after the lid is closed.

Would be a great product if the on button worked

I have been waiting for a tablet with full OS capabilities, so was really excited to try out the ASUS Transformer. It worked like a dream when it decided to work, but there appears to be a problem with the wiring to the on button. Sometimes it would turn on and other times it would not when the button was presses but would randomly turn itself on sometime later. Returned it after 2 days. I am looking forward to purchasing a similar product again , once they fix the bugs.

Best value for the price you pay at present time!

I bought one of this on Cyber Monday sale, to say the least, for the price I paid, I get a lots for what I bargain for, I have read many reviews that people are complaining about the slow charge time, it is true that the manual states that you plug in for 8 hours before 1st use, it is so simple that you just leave it at that until the next morning, and it is all charged up to 100%. After that, charge time takes a couple of hours only, so this is not an issue for me.The battery does last a long time for browsing the web, watch movies, from 8am to midnight, the unit still shows 40% power left, it is impressive. To have Windows 8.1, and the Office Home & Student 2013 pre-installed, and the ability to add other Windows programs is simply fantastic, I added a 64GB Lexar MicroSDXC, and all the new programs installed to the card with no problem whatsoever. The startup time is so fast that I thought was brilliant, one word...FAST. Windows Metro Apps are fun to use, no apps? Do a search, you will be surprise at what you can find, and the touch screen is so silky smooth, the keyboard is a nice bonus, this tablet is so much fun to use and very stylish, just love it.

Nice tablet - if you know how to flash BIOs, etc.

I bought this Microsoft tablet on Cyber Monday. It is great value.,,,,but has a lot of problems & it need to run critical updates right out of the box. To correct some of the problems, you need to run numerous Asus updates & Windows updates (including restore, reboots, resets & even flashing the BIOs,). It took me hours (& days)...& it is very frustrating. If you want a "trouble-free" tablet PC, get the latest iPad or Android tablets. If you enjoy wasting time on updating, get a Microsoft tablet like this one.

Simply Perfect for the price...

PROS: Cheap, nice battery life (8-11 hours depending of usage), comes with MSO home and students CONS: doesn't have a second battery in the keyboard (but hey... considering the price I can't really complain), the charging is kind of slow and the micro USB cable for charging is way too short. Other thoughts: Got this for my wife to replace a 2.5 years old Acer which died because of too much water (my daughter water it :P) and she loves it! For a home user (even business but if you need Outlook it doesn't come with) is simply perfect. I even tried some old games. My wife use it 4-5 hours daily and charge it every two days ( to be safe next day) - I have to mention she asked me to stop auto sleep or auto shutdown. During the weekend it runs all day and getting charged during the night (true some time just sit there on... but still). I definitely recommend this to a friend (which I did already :D ). I run 3DMark - Ice Storm and got the score 15847. Not bad at all for this price

Great for the price, but flawed...

I've been using the Transformer T100 for two days. It's an interesting device, capable of functioning competently as a tablet or a mini notebook (or, dare I say, "netbook"). It's not without it's flaws, and ultimately I will be returning this one and possibly ordering a vastly superior one from the US. Read on to find out why. Here are my initial impressions: Pros: - Good screen compared to other [price] laptops (but mediocre compared to some [price] tablets) - Price... [price] including a keyboard! It will be [price] online only Cyber Monday. You're welcome ;) Most similar Atom powered Windows tablets are offered around the same price with the keyboard being a $100+ accessory. - Windows 8. The Metro OS works really well in tablet mode. As this is my first experience with Windows 8 on anything other than a desktop, I have to say I'm more impressed than I thought I would be. Good job MS. - Includes MS Office Home and Student (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, but no Outlook, Access, etc) Makes the price even sweeter. - Current gen quad-core Atom and SSD combine to offer relatively snappy computing experience, although anything CPU intensive will remind you that this is NOT a powerful computer. It's very powerful compared to any previous netbook, but it's still about the equivalent of an ultra-low-wattage 1.0 GHz Core2 Duo CPU from around 2009, based on the benchmarks I ran. Still very good for the price. - The battery: Even when using it as a computer, the battery feels like a tablet... I used it to do some coding work yesterday for a solid hour at max brightness and only lost about 12% battery life. Not bad! Cons: - CANADIAN LANGUAGE LAWS. Asus, and many other manufacturers, have been getting away with this for too long. You see, laptop manufacturers have two choices. You can either offer a separate model for English and French, or you can offer a single model with an "international keyboard." So, you get a plethora of laptops on the market with a left shift key that is cut in half, and in this case, the enter key is cut in half as well. Thus, the keyboard is NOT as pictured on this website. I don't understand how/why ANYONE puts up with this. Now that you know, please vote with your wallet and refuse to buy ANYTHING with an International keyboard! (Unless of course you are French Canadian, or otherwise need the international layout, in which case no offence intended here!). If I do decide that I want to own a T100, I will return this one and buy the US model. This is a dealbreaker for me, and should be for you too! end rant... - The charger is awful. Charging by USB works fine for some devices (dedicated tablets are usually fine) but is not powerful enough for this machine's power draw. I can have the charger plugged in while working on it, and if I'm doing anything CPU intensive the battery LOSES power despite being plugged in! To me, that's pretty bad. Last night I left it plugged in at 34% battery. I woke up 7.5 hours later and it was at 94%... It's hard to believe 7.5 hours is not enough to get a full charge when it was already 1/3 charged! - The screen looks terrible next to an iPad with Retina or a Nexus 7. It's not really a fair comparison, I admit, as they are very different products at different price ranges for different markets, but I am nevertheless looking at it side by side with an iPad Mini Retina right now and it makes it look... bad. - The 32 GB model only has 14 GB of usable space. It has an micro SD expansion slot, but SD tech is VERY slow compared to the built in SSD (which isn't even a fast SSD). You can get the 64 GB model in the US for $349 from some retailers. Once I installed a few applications (Eclipse, Chrome + plugins, ADT, and a few more) and synced 5 GB of my files from DropBox, my drive was nearing capacity... Not enough for me, although this might not be a problem for some people with different needs. Overall, I'm giving it 4 stars because it's a fantastic device

Great product for the price

Very good deal. This tablet is a very good option for those who are thinking to have a tablet with pc functionality. In my opinion, hybrid tablets are Microsoft best weapon against Android and iOS. This tablet is light and it is optimized for reading which is a great feature. Battery life is good and yeah, keyboard feels cheap and track pad has a long learning curve. For [price], it is an awesome product. Screen is better than I was expecting and although the speakers are loud, I did not find the sound is clear enough, but overall this not compromise the whole experience.

Works like a charm

So far so good. Everything appears to work properly (have not activated Office 2013 yet). Light weight, reasonable keyboard and IPS display, USB 3.0 support for external HD (can play movies), good battery life, CPU is fast enough. Will need to use microSD card slot to increase capacity on this 32GB model. Good alternative to Surface RT. Not as high quality as iPad but a nice little Windows tablet.

Great cheap hybrid

Great and cheap hybrid. Track pad is not the best as it can be a little laggy but otherwise this device fulfills my needs and for the price, you can't get anything better. This runs full windows 8.1 which is a million times better than RT. battery life is amazing as well. screen and back cover can be a fingerprint magnet

Powerful little unit

Nice little unit. Runs the x86 version of Win8.1, however it is the standard version. You will NOT be able to join it to a domain. Other than that, it's responsive, quick out of the gate, and runs the full version of Office with out any issues. The only down side is it takes FOREVER to charge on the first charge (the unit was stone dead out of the box). The power on button needs to be held in order to boot the unit. This was strange the first few times. 32Gb is a little small for storage, however, an external card will help with that. Make sure it's at least a class 10 or better card though. In order to boot into the BIOS, hold the shift key when you click restart. I spent forever looking for this option.

ASUS Transformer Book

Fantastic machine, it's fast and the battery lasts a long time. It can load all programs like on a regular pc. Like iTunes etc. The only downfall is the Windows store, it's not as the same caliber as the Google Play or iTunes Store. But I am sure that will change in due time. Full USB port is a nice touch so all of the device will work, printer, scanner etc. Impressive for a Tablet/PC hybrid. The sound is quite good for something that small. Good Buy.

Great value for a windows tablet. Ticks all the boxes, fast, long battery life, free keyboard etc. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cheaper Surface alternative.
