Just what I needed

I came across this monitor based on recommendation of my 18 year nephew who is a gamer. But I bought it not for gaming to because I have serious eye issues but have a job that requires me to be on computer constantly. Now I use it with my 13 inch Macbook. If you have similar challenge with eye strain and are looking for the following features I will recommend that you purchase this monitor 1. ergonomic feature - you can move the monitor up and down as you desire 2. eye strain reduction - there are multiple ways to allow you to adjust the brightness by selecting - any of the 8 modes (I use the Reading Mode that seems easiest on my eyes) - brightness Another plus is that is sturdy and solid built just inc are you are not familiar with ASUS and wonder about it product quality. One reviewer commented on colour being poor. I don't experience that problem.

good monitor, contrast can be better

Not bad for the price. I had two computers connected, on to HDMI the other to the DisplayPort; depends on which one fires up first, it will pick up that signal most of the time. Wish the two images can be set to any sizes. Great for watching video.

Good Monitor

I got this monitor in December 2015, have been using it for over 7 months. It is a great budget monitor if you are getting you foot into 4K movie/gaming. As normal/causal gamer, this monitor will satisfy most of your needs in 1080P, 1440P, and 4K settings in games. Please make sure your video card is powerful enough(recommending GTX 980ti SLI) for solid 60 FPS+ gaming experience. TN panel is good for gaming but not good enough for color reproduction. If you have need on accurate color display, this monitor probably will not impress you.

Very nice moniters. Exceeded my expectations

I purchased two of these for my new gaming pc. I am impressed with how little I had to tweak the settings to my liking, and the picture is wonderful, even at the 2k resolution I use for my secondary moniter. You can swivel the product to a portrait-view if you would like to, and they're very adjustable, both in height, and tilt. I highly recommend these!

Great Monitor!

Really crisp and sharp lettering. I have nothing to compare it too, but the pictures are unreal. For a lower priced 4K monitor I would not hesitate recommending it. The ONLY minor issue is that the monitor does in fact do 60Hz on every resolution EXCEPT the highest resolution. I was a bit disappointed about that, but because the display is so amazing I would not hold back on buying it. I found the mouse movement a bit sluggish at the highest resolution but I got used to it fairly quickly, I assume it's because it is only running at 30Hz. I set my mouse sensitivity to very fast and it helped quite a bit.

This monitor exceeded my expectations on every level. My major concerns were a low framerate and bad viewing angles. However, after spending time on my games I began to notice that the viewing angles were surprisingly crisp for a non IPS monitor. As for the framerate, 60fps for gaming seems to be enough to satisfy me others may feel different. Ultimately this is a great value and anyone wishing to experience 4k should consider this as a great option.

Awesome monitor

Got this on Boxing Day - very happy with the purchase. Awesome rez, excellent for gaming. Just be careful when plugging in the power and output cables. You really need to insert them in far enough in their respective sockets.

Amazing graphic quality and value

Got this monitor as one of the boxing day door crasher deal to replace my 5 years old Dell LCD. BEST DECISION EVER!!! Image is sharp and crispy, 28" + 4K gives me tons of space to work, multiple tabs on Chrome and man gaming / watching movies on this thing is mind blowing! Definitely recommend!

A bit washed out + backlight bleeding

I bought this on sale and I had a hard time finding the right calibration to get a crisp image with vibrant colors. Before this I had an lcd samsung before LED times and that one still looks better. In standard profile the windows desktop and texts are a bit blurry. also, when watching a near black image, you can definitely see the light bleeds at the left and right edges. But all that said, I think it has a flexible pan tilt which is great and it is the most affordable 4k that you can buy given that it is 1ms. I did not see any ghosting or shadows when gaming, but be aware that you need at least a GeForce 980ti if you want a frame rate over 20 in todays 3d games.

Great Monitor

Great 4k Monitor To get 4k with 60hz refresh 1.2 display port cable is need. There was a 1.1 cable included but limited 4k refresh rate to 30hz. using hdmi 2560x1440 with 60hz refresh was good. 4k with 28" monitor, the text can still be very small and hard to see. 1ms response time, actual seems much higher. Stand is very nice, pivot aids in connecting cables on the back.

Well worth the purchase...

I have absolutely no complaints about this monitor. The picture is sharp and clear, no real special effort to get up and running. The only thing I didn't know was that the display ships by default in DisplayPort mode 1.1. At this setting, you can only get a 30 mhz refresh rate. Just go into the display's on-screen settings, and switch it to mode 1.2. Then into your OS display settings, and now you can set it to 60 mhz. No problem. I was also concerned that the included DisplayPort cable might have been a normal one, not the 1.2 you need for full 4k and 60 mhz refresh rate...but it was the correct one. I've played some 4k movies on it, and a couple of games in full 4k, and they all look amazing. A great display, and as a bonus, I got it on sale... :)

Best monitor I've ever had.

I've been a gamer for many years, and owned plenty of monitors. This ASUS is very impressive! I run 'Star Citizen' and I'm a flight-sim geek (with oculus), so I know what I'm talking about. Such joy, to increase my resolution 'way past 1920x1080'. I highly recommend this monitor!

Perfect companion to the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro

Already with high res. on the small screen I did not want to lose that resolution with a larger screen. This ASUS monitor provides a perfect fit to the computer, offering pristine colours and response times. It connects to just about everything, with almost 3D clarity.

Great Value

The quality of this monitor is great for the money. Awesome color depth and contrast when looking directly in front. Tried it with a Macbook Pro 2014 and the 60Hz refresh rate works very smoothly: no lag, no flickering. Configuration is quite easy as it has multiple modes and a broad set of options to adjust it. Just a piece of advice: if you want to use this with the display port cable at 60 Hz, you have to change the DP monitor setting from 1.1 (default) to 1.2. And voila, you will get magnificent 4K at 60Hz.

  • from Toronto, ON

All I have to say is WOW. This monitor is amazing. After trying another brand for less cost, this monitor really out performs my expectations for gaming in 4k.

Don't buy for Macbook Pro mid 2012

Bought it for my macbook pro retina mid 2012 and it doesn't work. it works at 4k but only up to 30hz. I tried with the 1.2 display port and same not luck..

  • from Toronto, ON

Macbook Pro 15 retina Mid 2012 owners!!!

I recently got this monitor and I wasn't able to make run at 60hz in my Macbook Pro 15 retina Mid 2012... I tried with the display port 1.2 to mini display port and not luck.. The problem is that this macbook pro doesn't come with the thunderbolt 2 which is built-in with 1.2 display port.. So, you won't get the 60hz in 4K...

Geat Monitor at a fantastic price point

Bought this monitor to use with my MacPro 2013. I am very pleased with the ASUS. Quality is fantastic. No issues with the TN panel as I am using it in a 3 monitor setup and with that configuration you are looking directly at the screen from left (Asus), centre, or right monitors. Some have noted in the forums issues with DisplayPort on the MacPro with tearing on the right-hand side. Some have said that upgrading to Yosemite will resolve this issue. This I did before the monitor arrived and upon connection everything was fine, no tearing issues at all. Anyone using this monitor on a Mac should use a DisplayPort to mini-DVI or DisplayPort to Thunderbolt cable. The DisplayPort cable that ships with the monitor is a DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. The online service from Best Buy was excellent and monitor was delivered within a few days of ordering given that it was shipped all the way across Canada. Thinking about buying a second unit given the quality of this first unit. Cannot justify the $ premium to buy a 4K IPS panel for sure when this gets you 90+ percent of the way there. Tom's Hardware has an excellent review on this monitor.

Great Monitor at a Great Price

After spending some time tinkering with the settings i now have the pleasure of gaming on a beautiful 4k monitor. Another great monitor from ASUS.

Love the display

Love the display. Was not able to switch the display to 4k at 60hz (only 30hz) with the cable that came with it and a display port to mini-displayport adapter. Had to buy a mini-displayport to displayport cable to get it to work at 60hz.

Good Monitor - Bad Displayport

Overall this this a good monitor. Picture quality is very good with deep blacks. The quickfit feature is very handy that lets you see photos and documents at their actual size. There is, however one major problem. Asus ships the monitor with a non-standard Displayport cable. I also had the a problem with the monitor and after some online research found the problem to be the displayport cable. It appears that most displayort cables sold have pin 20 connected on both ends, which according to should only be used in specialty applications. I finally tracked down the right cable from Belkin but had to order it online. So why doesn't Asus ship a proper displayport cable with their monitor so that it will work properly.

  • from Toronto, ON

This monitor will turn off every hour or so if you have a NVIDA graphics card. The buttons are a pain to use as they are on the BACK of the monitor. Picture quality is great and so is stand, but if you're paying [$price] for monitor, it should be perfect!!!!
