Excellent Basic laptop

This laptop is excellent! the quadcore processors is what makes it a standout among other dualcore laptops out there. I don't understand these people that are complaining about this laptop being slow? of course by default-this laptop is on single core only. you have to go to msconfig and activate the other 3 core processors to make it faster or to set it to the quadcore. I strongly suggest that if you don't know much about this product and has nothing good to say, just don't comment at all. peace! :-)

Poor Quality

this computer has given me multiple problems as in not being able to run much programs, going very slow and often crashing whenever i use my drawing tablet with it, thus resulting in me losing either shcoolwork or drawings done on the computer. some of my files are corrupted and im not exactly sure why it is in the first place and it doesnt open some files or even run programs properly, and it usually results in me losing my files and not being able to access them at all.

Cheap for a reason

I bought this computer to do course work and other everyday tasks. It has trouble doing more than one thing at a time and in the five months I've had it has sucked so much that after completing my course I rarely turn it on. My phone tackles everyday tasks better than this piece of junk. don't waste your money.

Be very careful!

After 7 months this laptop went black. Apparently a motherboard issue. Although the rep at Dell told me it was under warranty and i can just send it in to be fixed, or to be replaced, they did not do it. The told me it had a chip in the plastic case (the size of a small child's fingernail) when it arrived and therefore they could not open it up unless I paid for the damage in the case first. They wanted $269+ tax for that. (LOL!) The thing is - it did not have a chip when I sent it in, but whatever. The chip had absolutely nothing to do with the internal issue anyways. I'm so glad that I did not spend the extra $150-250 on extended warranty too, because that would have been like tossing extra $ in the toilet. Because of this so called chip, they would not honour the warranty and stand behind their brand and do what's right. Normal wear and tear is apparently a "way out" for Dell. I will never ever buy a dell again. The worst customer service ever! Just to get the return label to have the laptop sent to them in the first place was a circus! Seriously - it should last longer then a few months.

First Dell Experience

I just got this computer from bestbuy yesterday, and although I was a slightly skeptical about the intel pentium processor (only used intel core i5/i7), the quad cores certainly help it. Internet browsing is super fast. I was also pleasantly surprised by the weight of the laptop, it has a good build, but its really quite light for its size! Starting windows is great, it's very snappy. Colours are sharp and there's no lag insofar. Only issue would be minor in aesthetics, the enter key is quite small and thin in comparison to the scale of the rest of the key board, which can be lightly annoying. As well as the arrow keys. but that could just be an ASUS user getting the hang of DELL. Overall, I STRONGLY recommend getting this computer (specifically from bestbuy b/c of the great return policy-staples is a nightmare and walmart is always a gamble) for it's fast multi-tasking and great capacity for personal use. Trust me, you won't regret it.

A very basic computer

A few things you need to know before buying: 1. It has NO wired network connection 2. The WiFi adapter only support 2.4Ghz, NOT 5Ghz, but you can upgrade it yourself for extra money. 3. It has no DVD/CD Rom It is a very basic computer for very basic usage.

One thing for sure VRAI POUBELLE

I am returning it tomorrow

DO NOT BUY. It is so slow and cannot handle multiple tasks at once and I am not a gamer or anything. I am not asking a lot of the computer and it can keep up. My 10 year old lenovo which i was trying to replace is still as fast as this. There are also issues with it turning on - not turning on. There are actually you tube videos about how to turn on your Dell because it sucks. I got a lemon and am getting rid of it as soon as possible. It would have been nice if a sales person could have let me know more about the product. I am not tech savvy and need an interpreter when it comes to knowing the various computer terms. I had help setting it up and it just doesnt run like a new computer should.

decent laptop for the price

Pros: - The memory and hard drive are upgrade-able. - Price is nice for what it is (Celeron/Atom price, Oentium CPU) - Very lightweight and thin. - Doesn't get hot even with heavy use - Speedier then I thought it would be after cleaning out junk-ware. - Screen is nice, good color. - Not an Acer. Cons: - Only one DDR3L-1600 RAM slot, max 8GB. - Touch pad is pretty garbage. If you're looking for a cheap working notebook can't go wrong with this one. However, I would not pay full price, wait for a special.

Avoid this laptop

Terrible computer. Couldn't handle basic functions and died on the 2nd day I had it.

I got this laptop on sale for [price], and, at that price, I can't complain. For, a cheap laptop, it's pretty darn good!

Steer clear of this laptop.

This laptop is inadequate for even the most basic web browsing. Youtube videos that played fine on my now deceased 6 year old Acer laptop are choppy. It would seem that Windows 10 is more of a resource hog than the 1.6GHz Intel Pentium N3700 quad-core processor is capable of easily handling which does not bode well for future use once updates and service packs are installed. The display seems nice but I might as well buy a digital picture frame and load a screenshot of Windows 10 for similar functionality. I am returning it to Best Buy.

Save Your Money

Unit ok for basic functions, but had problems with this laptop from day 1. Returned to store following day, they said had to be sent to Dell for warranty repair. Unit sent to Dell, came back saying found no physical problems with parts did a driver software re-install. Took unit home still had same issues. The audio on these units seem to have a history of failure from what I have seen on the internet. Trying to get customer support from Dell virtually impossible. I would definitely not recommend Dell laptops.

great budget laptop

if your looking for a laptop for basic schoolwork, or watching youtube and typing with a nice keyboard, buy this computer, I don't understand people that buy budget laptops and complain about performance like the guy above..

  • from Surrey, BC

great laptop and cheap

buy it cheap laptop super fast and powerfull

  • from Windsor, ON

Super slow

Very slugish computer for a quad core. Not upgradeable in any way. Eventhough Best Buy customer service assured me that it is. This computer is stricltly for light use like surfing the web. Windows 10 is to heavy on the system I would not install anythins higher then Window 7. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Not Well Made

Dell is using poor materials. I needed to update the drivers to make the track pad work correctly. Windows 10 has been dumbed down and took awhile to turn all the data sharing options off. Just need it to run tax software so cheap enough for that!
