Looked great but performed terrible.

Purchased this yesterday used it today. everytime i started driving the dash cam was frozen. so i unplugged it power it off then on again. then back to normal. drove a while and it again froze. had to power cycle it again. so for something that its only purpose is to record something its not doing its job so i will return both that i have purchased. and i will be getting something that hopefully will do what its made for.

Crashes and Screen Stops

This is my second Geko because my first one stopped working in 30 days. I am experiencing the same exact problems as the first. I simply do not like it, it is not worth it. I am going to return it and have to get one that has better reviews. Highly recommend against buying it, likely you'll experience problems.

A good and inexpensive dash cam

I finally settled on this cam because of the good price and good reviews. I just do not understand 2.7 stars rating from Best Buy. The video quality is good and I didn't expect the best quality anyway. DoD is your choice if you look for one of the best dash cams. I did have a little problem after a few days of use, it crashed and froze when I turned off my car. I reformatted my new 16g SD card and reset to the defaults. Now the cam is running flawlessly.

Not a reliable camera

I went through three different GEKO cameras that all stopped working within 2 weeks. First one started to freeze and stop recording randomly (screen would freeze or mess up and it would not record), second one didnt work out of the box (wouldn't read any memory cards, not even the one it came with). Third and last one started dying after only a couple days (same problems as first). Gave up and got a refund. It's too bad because it is a decent dash cam otherwise. The video quality is pretty good during the day (but a little grainy). Not very good at night but still good enough to use for insurance purposes. Camera also has some nice features such as G sensors and motion sensors. The cam itself is relatively small and easy to use as well. However all of that is for nothing if the thing will never work.

Okay for the price point

This camera is okay for it's price point, the video quality is okay, but not that great. For example, you cannot read the license plate of a vehicle that passes you in the adjacent lane, the quality is only really good enough to read plates directly ahead at short distances. One thing to note is that if you are experiencing the problem of only getting 10-20 sec. recordings intermittently, turn off the motion sensor, this solves the problem. Overall I am satisfied with this product.

Great Product Quality

I love this dash cam. The mount is very strong. It never drops from the windshield. Also, I can adjust the angle of the camera with the mount easily. The quality of the video is great. I can see everything clearly in the video including the license plate number of the car in front of my car.

Very worth it and easy to use

This dash cam is well worth the money. The quality of the product is perfect. I have been using this camera for more than two months and everything works great. Also, I am not a very techy person. The basic function on the camera is good enough for me. It is very easy to use. I don’t need to spend bunch of time to figure out how to use it.

Poorly designed, broken out of the box

This camera has a big flaw, the SD card falls into the body of the camera rendering it useless. The manufacturer has indicated they have redesigned the camera to prevent this from happening. Very disappointed with this product, cannot recommend based on this.

Geko E100

Overall a very good dashcam. All functions work very well other than motion detection. When switched on, unit would continuously stop recording every 3 minutes or so then restart recording. Good support from manufacturer cleared this issue up. Would recommend this product.

Geko E100 Dash Camera

I like the camera but the suction cup arm to attach it to the windshield, broke after just a few days. I was replacing a dash camera that no longer worked, so I was able to adapt the other suction cup arm to this camera. The only other thing I would improve is the capacity for recording. The card fills up quickly and images have to be deleted regularly. I was hoping it would continually loop and not capture images unless I pressed the button to record it permanently.

Stay away

As others have said, the memory card will drop into the body of the camera and its gone. Mine did this and I could not get the screws out to take it apart. This alone is reason not to buy it as the card needs to go in and out to download it. A very poor design that needs to be fixed.

Good video quality, build quality could be better

I'm no dashcam expert but the Geko E100 is alright. The video in 1080p is pretty clear. I had no problem in making out license plates numbers with it (for when it might be needed). Not sure about the audio, it's a little hard to understand. I like that it has the time stamp on the recorded video. I'm still trying to figure out how to take still pictures so I can't say much about them. The build quality isn't so great. I already had to take it apart (which probably voided the warranty) because the microSD slot is just a little too wide and if you put it in wrong, the card will fall into the back of the camera instead of the microSD holder. The manual is also pretty vague in terms of what the buttons do. One of the selling points for this dash cam is that it's supposed to "withstand the harshest weather conditions, extreme heat and cold". Living in Canada, I hope that this is true. I only just bought this dash cam so my review maybe a little early. If this wasn't on sale, I'm not sure if I would've bought this.

Decent quality at this price point!

When I first decided I needed a dashcam I wanted to get something affordable and easy to use. I came across the geko e100 and saw that it could still record in 1080HD and take still shots if I wanted or needed to. It is small enough that I can hide it behind my rearview mirror and avoid getting distracted by the LCD screen. The size is super compact. I went ahead and made the purchase and I am completely pleased with the day and night video footage. They are much better than I expected for a dashcam at that price. This is my first dashcam so I do not have much to compare it to but it was very simple to set up and go through the menu. I like the design and the material they used for the body of the camera. That’s just a plus since the video is the most important aspect and there are no complaints there. I would definitely recommend this dashcam for a first-timer.

Graet product & good price!!!

There are only a handful of reviews on the e100 but I liked what people were saying considering the cost of this dashcam. When I first got it the packaging was nice and sturdy as well as the device itself. I had read that the e100 would avoid focus-swift which is where the corners of the video frame would blur out when the lens got really hot. I live in a climate that is extremely hot and muggy so for me this was a plus. I will have to wait for the hot season to come around to put this to the test. For the cost it was a good choice overall. I like that you get a wide variety of video resolution settings. I mostly use 720P to save space on the 8gb sd card that was included but when I take a road trip I definitely take advantage of the 1080HD video resolution. The videos come out clear day or night. This is the dashcam I use on a daily basis.
