Works well

I have no issues with this product. I am able to hear what I am recording. There is a small amount of lag between what I am playing and what I am hearing. I would hope you aren't trying to record your master works on an iPad or other tablet or you will be disappointed whatever input device you use. This device gets the job done.

Good for recording on iPad

It gets 5 stars because it does exactly what it's supposed to to and it doesn't cost very much money. That doesn't mean that it's the best-sounding pre-amp out there, it just means that for [the money], you get your money's worth with this thing. I've been using it to record vocals into Garageband with a Shure SM58 and I have no complaints. Yes, there is background noise, but what do you expect for this price? This thing is perfect for hobbyists. I like the sound of it enough to try using it on my iMac to record into Reaper, but I can't get the computer to recognize it as an audio device. I'm guessing that it's just made for mobile devices. Regardless, you can easily transfer AIFF files from Reaper to Garageband on an iPad with a combination of Audioshare and Dropbox so you can record a little here and a little there as you go. Perfect for anyone who just wants to record vocals outside of their house/apartment (as to not annoy the neighbours with LLLoud Noises!)

Not bad, but...

....the high gain is not clean/noisless as some reviewers had claimed it to be. The headphones monitor does not work during recording, as the manufacturer's website described that it does. For the price and size, it's good enough, but it should be fully functional as described by the manufacturer. I would not recommend this product. For portability, better to use a single channel audio interface.

Great for the money

Works as advertised -- geared for iOS devices -- very portable and good to keep on hand for practice and as spare preamp.
