The gentle sound of lapping waves is music to your ears. You squeeze shimmering grains of pristine sand between your toes and look up at the cloudless sky to Soak up all of the sun's toasty rays. Your Hawaiian vacation has finally begun.
You're just about to put your towel down on the silky smooth sand when suddenly you hear your phone vibrating from deep within your backpack.
You quickly glance at your trusty Pebble Time smartwatch resting on your wrist. It's wirelessly connected to your smartphone thanks to integrated Bluetooth 4.0. The always on, colour e-paper glass display says it's your boss calling.
The last thing you want to do is fumble through your bag and talk to your boss about TPS reports while at the beach. Instead, you easily push the tactile buttons on your Pebble Time to activate the built-in microphone. You make a quick voice note to call your boss back when you return to the hotel.

The watch itself is great. It provides notifications and gives me all the information I want and sometimes more. It's not a stand alone product and must work with a smart phone, which was expected. It would be nice if it had more apps that could function on their own but it would probably cost more and the battery life would take a hit.
The biggest con and I think it's pretty huge is that the watch face itself is easily scuffed or scratched. In doing research about this it isn't so much that the gorilla glass becomes scratched but the antiglare coating instead. This is a big enough problem that I would recommend not getting this product unless you intend to get something that would cover the gorilla glass. There are plastic covering solutions out there. The only thing is that when you put the plastic covering on it creates glare so that you end up wondering why they even including the antiglare coating in the first place.
A wonderful product with a big glaring con that could have easily been avoided with a better design choice.
Simple smart watch, no frills.
Does the job that I was looking for with my iPhone 5.
Paired up with iPhone 5 easily.
Battery life is not 7 days, generally 4 or 5. That is why I give it 4 stars.
If you are active, or in my case a drummer, the battery life can even be lower due to the fact every time you flick your wrist the LED screen illuminates. You can turn the motion sensor back light off, but then it is difficult to read the watch at low light levels. Perhaps both a button or motion option to illuminate the back light would be a good alternative.
Overall I am pleased with the device and have no regrets with my purchase.
Doesn't charge and doesn't hold a charge longer then a few hours
Love the smartwatch, after 2 weeks charging cable does not work properly and no available replacement locally.
Got this as a replacement for the Pebble Smart watch that suffered from a blinking screen...manufacturing defect
We'll see how this makes out
I love my Pebble Time. I bought it mostly for being able to see the information on my MP3's when they are playing. But now I use it for temperature, time texting and fitness. I only have to charge it every 5 or 6 days, and playing music the face is always changing. Way better to read in direct sunlight then anything else. It's a steal at [price].
Purchased when on sale, pretty good so far!!
Great watch with excellent battery life. Very light on the wrist. The strap feels good and soft on the wrist.
Apps are in plenty.
Bought a Black one for me and the Red one for my wife.
Pairing with the Iphone was a breeze and no notifications are missed.
Lots of options in the pebble app store and it would take time to go through everything.
I bought this watch on sale after reading a few reviews and doing the research on it. Basically it does the job I need it to do. It is not glamorous and there are not a lot of apps for it that I like....and that is okay. The battery life is amazing and the watch faces are fun to change up. The fact that it is water resistant is also a nice benefit. For the price I paid I am satisfied with my purchase.
I purchased a Pebble Steel last summer, which stopped working in early January. It is now the middle of March and I have still not received a replacement. The 'troubleshooting' process was repetitive, as I was asked to do the same things over and over, and their responses sometimes took days. I'm at the point where I don't even want it.
The Pebble Time is a great smartwatch for a price that's much lower than other smartwatches. There are plenty of watch faces to explore and some great apps. Battery life is excellent. After three days the battery is usually still at 50%. Notifications from Android work great. Emails, texts, Facebook messages, alarms...everything comes up on the watch but can be turned off if desired. The user interface is a bit limited, but fairly simple to learn. The included rubber ban is surprisingly comfortable.
As a person approaching my 50's I'm finding the small screen a bit difficult to read, especially in low light. This is not a fault of the watch - just a warning to others that have aging eyes. Like others I have also found that the outer bezel can scuff very easily. I'm very careful with my electronics, but the Pebble has some minor scuffs (not scratches) after only a couple of weeks.
Overall I would recommend the Pebble Time.
If you are looking for a phone replacement on your arm, a touch screen, swipe for apps and using Siri, look elsewhere. But if you are like me, all I am looking for is a tool/ utility to vibrate for notifications, which I always miss when the phone is in my pocket. I look for a quick outside temperature check, and I like the fact that you can forget about it being on your arm for days, due to battery and water resistant, until you need it. I don't have to reinvent my whole day to learn how to use the watch and fit it into my life. Just put it on and go.
The apps and watch faces are plentiful, and some are really handy, with weather, tides, wind speed, and forecasts. Sure, it would be nice to have a "cell phone like" touch screen with all the above features, that is water proof and a 5 day battery, with a screen that is always on, but you can't buy it.
I have tried the moto360 LG Gwatch and other amazon knock offs and all have been returned because they do not do what the PEBBLE watch does and it does it so well!!!
*5-7 day battery life (WITH SYNC AND BLUETOOTH ON) and that's proven-- even with constant notifications
*notifications works like charm and it just looks soo cool when you see them
*does not overheat on your wrist (MOTO 360 SURE DID)
*huge selection of watch faces
*PEBBLE HEALTH WITH MISFIT FITNESS TRACKER IS A SOMETHING OF A GENIUS WITH THIS WATCH
*DID I TELL YOU HOW ACCURATE THE VOICE TEXT MESSAGING AS A REPLY!
THE ONLY CON is that its not touchscreen (but seriously I would trade that for longer battery life and heat)
This watch keeps my phone off my hands and does so well notifying me of emails and calls and texts
I picked up the Pebble Time on sale for $[price] perfect price for this watch. Not disappointed at all the watch easy to use. There are a good number of apps in their app store and very easy to set up. This is my first smartwatch and so far it is meeting my expectations. Downloaded an app to monitor sleep worked great also a few games and new watch faces. I can spend days customizing this watch.
The band and look of the watch feels a little cheap, but it does what it is supposed to do well. At this price pick one up you can't go wrong.
I've tried a few 'smartwatches' over the last couple of years and the Pebbles have always been the easiest to use, the most reliable and have the best battery life, the e-ink screen is one of the easiest to read too especially in direct sunlight. I also like the fact it's not over packed with useless junk apps that you never end up using, it simply does what it's supposed to do. Incidentally, I've run my 'smartwatches' on both iOS and Android but there is a 3rd party app that works perfectly if you're using a BB10 device by BlackBerry.
Week long battery life, color screen, notifications, open source (lots of apps), screen is glass (instead of polycarbonate like the original, won't scratch as easy), and WATERPROOF!
I don't know of any other smart watches that even come close to the level that the pebble time is at. Oh, and it works on Android and iPhone, really whats not to love?
Bought this on sale and it's the best deal I've made in a long time. I've had a Pebble before, but traded it for an LG "G" watch because I like the colour screen. The screen on the pebble time doesn't have as many colours as the LG, but it has more than enough for the size. The time has a water resistance to 30M against the LG's ?, and I've never had the Pebble Time run out of power. It claims to run 5-7 days on a charge but I've never put it to the test as I charge it for an hour or so every 2-3 days. The LG had to be charged every night, and even then occasionally ran out of power. The face is readable even in bright daylight, and a quick shake of the wrist turns on a 3 second backlight at night.
The rubber wristband that comes with it contributes to it's toylike look, but that was quickly changed with a mesh 22mm steel band, now it looks great on the wrist. Nice work, Pebble.
I purchased this a few weeks ago and use this mainly at work as it has a more subtle look of a regular watch.
I have a Samsung Gear S, Gear Fit, Moto 360, and now a Pebble Time. I have a friend who had the prior monochrome Pebble and waited patiently for the color model which is much better in usability due to the color.
Ignore anyone who says their smartwatch is better than another. Truthfully, there is no perfect smartwatch. Each watch I have fills a need depending on the activity, similar to owning a nice analog watch for classy events and an Ironman for sports. If I had an iPhone I would buy their watch to match, but I do not so I buy Android compatible ones, no arguments required over whose is better. Each is different, not 'better'.
Yes the Samsung and Moto screens are much better however you pay in battery life. Yes I do miss the touchscreen however it is a price/battery life tradeoff. Yes the screen brightness and colors are muted however it is the price/battery tradeoff again.
On the flipside, watchband is very comfortable smooth and no issues with it. Have not yet tried another band however have no reason to until this one breaks.
Bezel is a bit thick and could have been thinner or screen a bit larger, however overall size is well balanced to fit the average wrist. Only if you have a huge arm/wrist will this might seem small on you. Best to see this in person in the store before purchasing.
When I know I will be out from morning to late night I wear this knowing it will last into the night. Under regular use the Moto does not last past early evening depending on how many notifications were received.
I find the discussions on week long battery life irrelevant. Does your smartphone last a week? Do you not charge your smartphone every night? All I require is full day life and this more than fits the bill. I usually end up late into the night only at 80 to 90 % depending again on use with the backlight and display on full with auto backlight on. Every night I charge it together when I charge my phone. At least with this watch I have the option to skip a days charge without worry, but would you do that with your phone?.... no .. so not sure why everyone is up in arms on this. It has a magnetic charge connection which takes 1 second to connect and have had no issues.
Decided on the regular time vs the time steel as didn't want to pay extra as the guts are the same except for the battery, and truthfully in a few years there will be other new model so I will put the savings onto that one. A personal decision.
Vibration notification I find is more noticeable than the gear or moto. Mind you I like to wear these a bit looser and also the Pebble is thinner and lighter which makes a difference. I have never missed a vibration on the Pebble, however have often missed it on the others.
A big difference I found are the apps. Samsung and Moto have a lot of paid apps to add on or with a nice watchface. With the Pebble community the majority are free and useful. This more than makes up for the missing core Pebble functions. I have more apps and games with the Pebble and use it more due to the longer battery life. On my Gear and Moto I have no games as constantly worry about prematurely draining the battery during the day, along with barely any apps or faces as the useful ones are paid. Samsung Tizen is not popular enough yet so am sticking to Android Wear for now.
This Pebble Time is what the first one should have been. However I see Pebble as Nintendo, they beat to their own drum and as such they do it well without trying to out do everyone else. They take the good and refine it and results in a surprisingly well balanced watch.
I wish this watch has is a touchscreen as the first time I used it, I was trying to swipe the screen! Native calling or speakerphone along with text input, heart monitor, that is present on the gear and moto is missed from this watch.
I have owned a pebble for the last couple years. Prior to buying, I wasn't sure I needed a smart watch. But my wife was always on my case for missing her text messages (didn't feel phone in my pocket). So when I looked at the messaging capability, I went and got a pebble. I was instantly impressed with the watch and was eagerly waiting for the followup. I did not jump on the kickstart, but instead waited for the release. First off I like the Time OS better then the first one. It provides more detailed information of my daily tasks and appointments. Plus great to get detailed weather. Having colour is great, but don't expect a bright screen. In some way the B&W pebble was easier to read, especially text messages. Text on Pebble Time look neat, but the animation shrinks text size down a little. I am only getting about 4 days out of the watch battery, but I am an active user of it, which may impact the battery length (about same as my first pebble). Overall it is a great smart watch both functionally and in looks. The price is also much better then some of the competing watches, which makes this still the best smartwatch on the market.
I love getting my notifications on my wrist.... especially since now i can simply glance at the watch and get an idea of what is going on without having to pull my phone out. Also, working in an open air environment, my ringer wont pester my coworkers anymore.
5 day battery life you say? Suck it iWatch!
1. battery time - up to 3~4 day(I think 7 days possible unless you get notifications) you will realize that Pebble time is a watch. It is not like other smart watches which have to charge every night.
2. readability - available to read the screen even weather is too bright. you can also activate backlight by shaking the watch at the night.
3. Remote and notification - you do not need to unlock the screen.
4. 30m water resistance.
1. Cell phone battery - If you use Iphone, think twice for purchase this watch. It is connected by bluetooth, it means your phone never goes into sleep mode. always on as watch. If you turn on GPS for weather for the pebble, you will see battery is dying in real time. you will have to charge your phone more than watch.
I like gadgets and the pebble time did not disappoint me. Definitely looks better than the first gen, light and comfy to wear
Color screen is definitely better than b and w, but can use a brighter screen and sharper Color. Lots of apps and watch faces to choose from, however some of them are not that great but I guess you can not expect too much since most apps are free.
Battery life is not as good as the first gen, I only manage 5 days not 7 as per advertisement but definitely better than others
But don't expect it is as fancy as a apple cause it's not
I personally prefer the pebble than the apple but it's really personal preference.
My only negative on the pebble is that it's a bit overpriced compare to the first gen and not enough improvements or new functionalites
Verdict - if you do not own a smart watch b4 then the pebble time is great
But if you already own the first gen pebble, wait for the next gen b4 spending [price]
Waterproof alone is a big plus, how the others could think that they could make a watch that is not waterproof is beyond me. My battery is lasting about 5 days.
I purchased the watch on Sunday August 2nd, and by Sunday August 9th, the face of the watch looks all scuffed and marked. If general wear of this device without wearing it 100% of the day causes this then I would be afraid to actually wear it under water or while sleeping. I think the manufacturer needs to supply better scuff free glass. Other than this the product works as described.
Advance ordered for release date July 28. Arrived on time, however I could not get it to pair. I called Best Buy and they without hesitation set a replacement aside for me and swapped it over on my arrival. The service rep at Best Buy worked with me to ensure it had paired prior to my leaving the store.
I had earlier sent an email to Pebble Time with my problem and to date (Aug 8) all I have received back from them is "we are busy with extreme overload".
Thank goodness Best Buy was there to back their product.
All that said, I love the device, loaded the Misfit app and getting 3 days out of a charge. Highly recommend it. I'm certain my startup issues were unusual.
The smartwatch is very nice and works well delivering notifications from my phone. I really like the always on display and how the battery lasts more than a couple of days on a single charge. Music control comes in handy when the phone is in my pocket when using headphones without controls. The display is a bit hard to see in low light conditions and the back light doesn't stay on very long so its hard to read notifications in the dark. I think the watch looks nice but the lightweight plastic body and silicon band makes it feel very cheap. If you're looking for something more stylish, I would wait for the steel version with the leather or metal band to come out.
I backed this watch via Kickstarter and received this watch a couple of weeks ago and I must say I haven't had much to complain about, battery life is awesome for the amount it can do! Doesn't last me a full 7 days but still comparable to other smart watches on the market it's pretty good.
The only thing I'd not is the charger, it's connection is secured using magnets and isn't strong enough to hold the cable with the watch on the end (doesn't pass the watch cable fan test)
Check it out, definitely worth the purchase!
I got the kickstarter edition, which means I got it before the retail release. Been using it for the past 3 weeks and can't get enough of it. Upon first use, the screen may seem a bit dim. But after using it for a few hours, I got used to it and have no issues reading the time.
- great visibility outdoors
- always on
- lasts up to 7 days (for me as I use a watch face without the second hand)
- can change watch faces easily
- quick app to track number of steps taken everyday (misfit)
- quick app to purchase coffee from starbucks (javapay)
- can shower / swim with it
- light weight
- silicon watchband feels nice on wrist
- great support from Pebble if issues arise
- easily control phone's music app
- fully charges in 2 hours
- charging cable isn't great (needed a bit of adjustment)
- gorilla 3 glass isn't as scratch proof as you hope (luckily I bought screen protector
- indoor display isn't bright
Overall, I am very happy with this watch and I wear it everyday. It definitely made me look at my phone a lot less and no longer need to wonder who sent me a text as text message notifications are sent to my watch with the whole message displayed.
i highly recommend a screen protector / bezel sticker from gadgetwraps, slickwraps, or dbrand.
I had the original and now the Time via Kick Starter.
This is the best watch for the value! It has lots of apps, great battery, low cost (the original is great), it is also light weight, waterproof, connects to Android and Apple.
They make it easy to develop your own apps if you are a bit of a developer.
I also have the Apple Watch (supplied by my company) but recommend the Pebble overall. Apple Watch is nice for the touch screen and will likely get better but for the next year Pebble is the #1.
Pro: Long battery life, sharp display, highly visible under the sun, lots of apps, works with third party smart accessories, good build quality, anti-scratch glass surface
Con: only 64 (not 64bit) colors supported, toyish swatch-like design, wider than usual watch band, non-touch screen
Overall one of the best smartwatch available, but if you are looking for a more modern and mature-looking smartwatch to wear with your fancy suit, you should get Cogito or Cookoo instead. Otherwise look no further and pre-order now it now.
PS: I have the kickstart edition and I've been using it for over two weeks.
