I have owned 2 IPads, and 2 Ipad Minis, the last being retina. And I have always hated having to use Itunes as an interface. I bought the Galaxy Tab 4 hoping it could replace my Ipad min retina, but the screen res just wasn't as good. And as a photographer high res is top of my priorities. FINALLY this S2 does it all. It is fast, has a beautiful screen, and is expandable beyond my needs (where the Ipads are never expandable). Drag and drop for vids, music, images. ... perfect. Card reader works great.... I've found all the Android apps I need. Finally.... goodbye ITunes.
I've got this tablet for over a month now and I am impressed with its quality and performance across the board. It is blazing fast, extremely light and has a good battery life. The whole package. I would strongly recommend this product.
This tablet delivers! Buying the Logitech k380 keyboard for it now.
This thing is definitely the best Android tablet out there for the money. Sure, there are some others with higher build quality or a faster processor, but they usually cost around 700 bucks. This thing is pretty fast, has an incredible screen, it's the thinnest and lightest tablet on the market, and has a pretty good fingerprint scanner. It has kind of an old processor, but it's still crazy fast; it's basically the Android version of the iPad Mini 4. It doesn't have the best battery life out there, but that can be solved with a simple power bank. If you have the money, and want a solid Android tablet, I think you've come to the right place!
This is just what I needed ! Sort of toy for me - as now I can play all kinds of games. Also can function many more things like my email etc.
Love it !
Love it does everything I need, perfect for tavel. Adding the 64G memory card a big plus.
very good 8 inch tablet for the price
I have an older Ipad 3 and this thing is much lighter. It doesn't break your nose when you drift off to sleep at night when you suddenly relax your hand above your head!
It is pretty responsive, and pretty to look at. Most of all, is weight and size that is going for this tablet. The battery is not the longest lasting by any means, but we live in a world with 16 charge cables in every house, so get used to it!
The screen response watching Rogers NHL isn't as nice as my old ipad, oddly, being this is the latest greatest from Samsung.
I find the fluidity of the picture suffers in comparison during hockey. As for slow speed video it is fine.
Size and Weight, portability, fast response processor are all 5 stars.
If you open the wallet for this definitely consider the OEM case with it!
Great tablet, light weight, extremely portable. Vibrant colours and fast processing speed. Very responsive touch screen. I am still getting used to the camera. I haven't used it outdoors to appreciate colour quality. I have only used it indoors, maybe not under the best lighting conditions so the overall look is kinda beige...Reading text from magazines is easy on the eyes, as in little eye strain. Watching videos or movies is a pleasure. I am really happy with this purchase.
On the plus side, I really liked the size and screen of this tablet. Eight inches makes it much more portable than the 9.7 inch version (which I also tried out) and the 4:3 ratio is great for web browsing. Resolution was also good.
I also had no issues with performance as everything seemed pretty snappy.
Expandable storage is also a plus.
On the downside though, it is quite expensive at $500 (though on Boxing Day, it was on sale for $400) mainly as the battery life is quite awful. I couldn't get more than 4 hours of screen on time under Wi-Fi. Review sites state it should be at least 6 hours so maybe I had a faulty unit. However, even 6 hours isn't that great compared to the iPad-mini (10 hours) or some other Android tablets (Lenovo Yoga 3 is up to 12 hours).
Stand-by battery life wasn't great either.
Samsung bloatware is also pretty bad. Some of the apps can be disabled but many can not. Plus, there are loads of Samsung stuff running in the background.
Finally, mine also had a creaky back indicating some build quality issues.
Primarily due to the bad battery life, I returned it and I'm searching for another Android tablet to fit the bill.
Hopefully Samsung will up the battery size in the S3.
Amazing screen, camera, performance very smooth.
I bought this to give me an alternative between my computer and Ipod. Overall it's a great tool. The battery life isn't great when using it online. I have to recharge twice a day. Also the recharge time is too long. The screen resolution and sound is great. Light and has a good look. Gets hot on upper right back side. I had this issue with Samsung S and returned it as it burned. I keep the S2 in a cover so not much of an issue although worrisome when it gets too heated. I'm learning the android system therefore can't comment on all it can or cannot do. I haven't attempted download of my itunes. It's not a click and load as most apps off my Ipod were. Great to find most of same apps on Samsung. Download of pics, docs, etc very easy and quick. Great to see a screen I don't have to squint to read. I'd give this a good recommend but would mention the heat up. I'm overall happy I bought this. I see a long future with this one. I'll get some of those books read now.excited to learn and discover more of what Samsung and Android have to offer here. Keyboard is a nice feature. Smooth and easy to type on. I did buy a keyboard for my writing but Samsung on screen does a lot of work for me. Oh, right, the slim light weight is perfect and love the colour. I thought the gold would look garish, but very styish. Very good sound without external speaker. Haven't tried my speaker with it but don't see it not being very good. I bought the 8" for my preference having small hands and wanting more use for various tasks. It was a good choice for me. I see this year as a great one for more writing getting finished.
OKay so my only complaint i have with the Tab S2 is that its battery life is bad!
Compared to the Ipad Mini's battery life, which is super great. I found that i had to charge the Tab S2 every night after using it for a few hrs while watching videos.
Never had to do that with the iPad mini.
Okay besides the battery the Tab S2 is amazing. Its super slim and light And can easily fit in my jacket pocket.
The software is fast, and applications are fast and easy to use. The colours are amazing, and videos are crisp. Also the added bonus of upgrading to 128GB of storage is amazing.
I purchased this tablet on a boxing day Sale as an upgrade to my Samsung note 8.0. I love the 8 inch size..considered the 10 inch one but like the portability of the smaller tab. Still figuring things out but seems to be working well. The screen resolution is awesome and an improvement from the Note. I love the gold colour, very rich looking and the quality is as good as an ipad. The thin factor takes a little getting used to but once my case comes in it will feel much better in my hands. I have always used android devices and almost always Samsung and have cases for all. I would recommend this tablet to anyone.
Light to hold and easy to use. The screen is fabulous and the tablet is easy to use. had some difficulties in getting the manual but customer service sent me the site asap. The start up directions could be clearer and included in the box but once it was turned on everything went well.
bought this for [price] during boxing day sale this year and truly loved the product...initially we thought about buying an iPad, but this one way much better than iPad...light weight, slim design, overall performance and fantastic hardware config makes it unique.
I debated this tablet for a while, I am formerly an iPad user. After purchasing this is am very happy that I made the switch. It opens apps quickly and even the most demanding apps run flawlessly. It is light and comfortable in your hands and is also very sharp looking in gold. With the addition of a micro SD slot you can have plenty of storage. The battery is good and it charges quickly, I highly recommend this tablet to anyone who wants to run top apps in the play store as it will handle them. The split screen feature also works well with very little slowdown. The sound is on par with an iPad, small speakers but descent sound.
This is a very nice slate if you're in the market for a smaller but high-end Android tablet.
TouchWiz has been toned down a lot over the last couple of years to the point where it's actually not overly intrusive any more. This Tablet's customized OS is well built and most importantly runs smoothly with no performance hiccups.
I'm not usually one for "gold" coloured gadgets, but this gold is more of a rich gold-tinged brown and actually looks classy with zero cheesiness factor.
Screen is beautiful and plays video smoothly, whether from a file or streaming via Netflix. For some reason pics taken on my iPhone 6+ don't look great on the screen which is strange because they look good on my Windows tablet and on the iPhone that took them. Games look great with what has become Samsung's trademark bright and saturated colours.
Camera is mediocre, but that doesn't bother me because tablet cameras are really for odd jobs and should never be your primary shooter.
I strongly recommend the Samsung Book-style case. It's solid and attaches to the snaps on the back of the tablet. I tried another after-market case available on BestBuy.ca that was slightly cheaper and it was terrible. The Samsung case is really worth the money - it's well built and matches the premium feel of the tablet.
Overall, as a brand-agnostic gadget-lover this is the device for me. It's the same size and form factor (right down to screen resolution) as the iPad Mini, but it's a lot more capable and useful for those with the savvy to take advantage of it's capabilities.
