Great for Europe and Canada

The maps are already in the GPS, just select US/Canada or Europe. This unit worked right out of the box. No problem with signals. Used in Spain for 3 weeks and in Ontario before and after..

Going to Europe? Buy this GPS!

This unit worked right out of the box. After using it a few weeks here in Ontario, I used the GPS for 3 weeks in Spain. The unit is already loaded with U.S., & Canada, and Europe. You just select which version you require and it is made available.. I would never have got around Madrid and small towns near the coast without it. No problems acquiring Satellite signals. Once back in Toronto, I selected US/Canada and the machine quickly led us home. Worth every dollar.

Didn't like it

This was my third TomTom, previous one Go 2535 died suddenly. I purchased this model because of European maps; however, it is stripped down version of 2535. Few things I didn't like: 1. Permanent mount - if you want to take it off, suction cup had to be taken off as well, too much hassle for me. I prefer to take off the unit without removal of a holder 2. Lack of Bluetooth, 3. No voice command 4. Traffic sensor not included My old unit had more features, don't really understand the reason for removing important features.

Not worth it

Ive had an old TomTom for over 12 yrs. used it in Europe and North America with no issues. I bought this new one for the updated maps. its horrible and unreliable. updated It and it didn't pick up a signal at all on the way up to the cottage. that's 2hrs of searching for signal, sitting on the dash. on the way home a total of 10mins it worked. In the GTA if drops signal a lot and takes way to long to find a signal. the map jumps to parallel side streets and shows you going down a street your not on. the unit can't keep up with your driving. Not good when you need to know where your going. I bought a 2nd one thinking it was only my unit. Nope they both were bad and unreliable. it saddens me to return both. My patents Garmin with both EU and North American works beautifully in Europe and here. Spend a few more dollars for the Garmin and don't get stuck in Europe some where looking for a signal for 4 hrs. What happened to you TomTom? Ill be getting a Garmin after using both.

I owned a TomTomOne for many years

I chose this TomTom 5" GPS World Traveller Edition (1505M) because it takes a micro SDHC card. I inserted the sd card before I connected to TomTom MyDrive Connect and updated the maps. Downloading was extremely slow and it took more than 3 hours and at least an hour to install on my device. However it's done and my gps works great! I’m very satisfied. Also, I ordered it on Nov 27 and received it on Dec 1. Fastest delivery ever!!!

Just not good enough

I purchased this Tom Tom because I needed european maps. I was unable to upgrade my older basic Magellan Road Mate. I was surprised and dissapointed to find that I could not use the Tom Tom in the same location on my lower dash, as the old Road Mate worked perfectly there. The loss of signal was so bad that the unit was unreliable. I realise the fix for this was to place the unit on the windshield or upper dash, however, I do not like the view obstruction or the dangling wires. Gary

great product

have used this GPS for 2 weeks in Europe (the island of Sardinia); it's very easy to setup and download (for free) the latest maps; great accuracy not just for large cities but also for attractions and difficult to find areas; EXCELLENT for warnings on speed traps; graphic is very good with multiple options, extremely easy to follow (especially on multiple intersections and spaghetti highways/roads/intersections); easy to attach/detach; small enough to store in any car compartment when not in use; micro sd card allows you to store multiple maps; well done TomTom!

overall a good product

We like our TomTom GPS device but we had to buy an additional universal plug for [price] bucks because the one that came with the unit would not stay in the outlet and kept falling out.

the worst

don't get this i had it for 5 months now and gave me so much issues and it's dead

Good unit for the price

This is our second TomTom unit; I prefer how it works. Updating Maps the first time was a bit challenging as it was a different unit, but eventually successful. On sale, it was a good unit for the price.

simple solution

I like the large screen, and the directions are simple... it's a good product.

Bad update

New maps available, but can not be installed, because not enough memory, Very Very STUPID. The lifetime update is a joke

Only tried it out a few times in Quebec but seems to work perfectly well, just like my old TomTom. Takes you to the right place with no signal drop. I love the big screen and its easy to use. Just hoping it works as well in the US and UK when I go there later this year.

Works great. would definitely recommend

Worked great right out of the box. Locates GPS usually within 10-20 seconds. Very fast re-route calculations, usually within about 3 seconds (hard to tell the upper limit). The integrated low-profile suction cup seems great for now as it makes the device quite portable (time will tell about the long-term durability). Default settings seem to suit me well, but going through the menus shows a vast amount of customization settings. Auto-detects charging state (for automatic turn on/off) and time of day (for automatic dimming). Touchscreen has a good amount of sensitivity which to me feels at about the level of industry standard (compared to other GPS brands I used recently). No Bluetooth or other high-end and optional features, but also means less gimmicky things to break. bottom line: works great, so far reliably gets from point A to B, excellent value especially when on sale, would definitely recommend.

Tom Tom GPS

I had an old Tom Tom GPS. it worked great but battery was losing power. So it was time for an upgrade. Spend some money. I went to the US used all the way; the route was totally different I did not mind to see new towns. But it was a little longer then my regular route. For the many I spend it is a great buy. I would recommend it to anyone

Good but a few criticisms

Generally, so far, I like this unit. On the down side, I don't like the semi-permanent, hard to remove & carry windshield mount and power cord... compared with my old Magellan which was easy to remove from the mount & reconnect again, enabling me to carry the GPS in the soft carry-case (provided). Error correction feature is good idea; but not easy to use.

A good device

I really like the road displays while driving. Very clear and easy to understand. Also like the free map updates. One caveat, though, you need to buy a micro SD card for extra memory if you want to load all of the maps. Otherwise you load selected regions, not the full set.

We have always used a Tomtom for our travels, and had contemplated updating our older (5 year) one, when my wife decided to wait to see what the boxing day sale would offer. The offer WAS GREAT,Our former one only had Canada and the U.S., so we needed to pay an additional 70.00 to get Europe. We are very happy with this GPS... only used it for a week, but given the fact that we are accustomed to use this brand we decided to continue and are very pleased....So in the end, not only was the offer great, the GPS exceeds our expectations as well. Thanks again Best Buy for a great product. Unfortunately we have NOTHING negative to add to these notes...lioke anything newly purchased, the big thing is to read instructions first, whicgh I did, and all went great. Thanks need to download at this time...going to Europe will be a breeze.

ease of using

The only reason that i choose tomtom is ease of using. The apps is user friendly.
