Toshiba 55 inch

We bought this TV to replace our LG and are returning it today after 5 days. There is no comparison between the LG and this one. I'll admit we were lured by the price and Toshiba name. The picture is ok straight on but any angle it deteriorates substantially. The picture in none hd is poor and we have to say you get what you pay for. Stay away.

I bought this tv for my gym assuming that the low price would be reflected in the quality of the tv, but I am very impressed with the picture quality. The build quality on the tv could be better, but for the price, I really can't complain. Do yourself a favor when setting up the tv, go into the picture settings and turn off all of the extra features like edge enhancement, noise reductions, dynamic contrast, etc.. These features really degrade the picture quality and make it look pixelated and blocky. Also turn down the sharpness setting. I also reduced the backlight to 40, but the gym is relatively dark, so adjust to your preference.

So far so good Great T.V.

Bought this for the Grey Cup so far it is better than I thought it would be. I have seen things in the picture that was not on my old TV unbelievably clear .

Disappointed and Upset (A LOT) because of some really stupid ridiculous things

I am thinking about returning this tv and getting a refund. I am very disappointed and upset with this tv because of some really stupid ridiculous things that bother me a lot. I mostly used it for watching channels through an antenna (may in the future use for blu-ray or streaming video) and what I express in this review is as far as I know/to the best of my knowledge. I have used an LED tv (pretty sure 50 inch) from 2013 of one of the top tv brands of today and without mentioning which brand I may make some comparisons with that below. -one time (maybe the first few days after getting it), I think it was on and I fell asleep for a little while and woke up and I'm not sure after how long or when but somehow the screen was black but some light or some brightness I think was visible in the screen and I think whatever I pressed on the remote control was not changing it. I ended up cutting the power to it and then turned it on, I don't know if I accidentally pressed something or something is wrong in the tv or what -when I press the INFO button, the time and date does not display. (this might seem like a small thing, but it bothers me A LOT! I am so upset about that. Who makes a tv in this day and age without that simple basic feature?) -i think this tv operates more slowly like when changing channels, I think it takes longer to go to the other channel compared to the other tv (I like to be able to flip through channels fast, not waiting so long for a channel to load and then changing to another) and maybe also to get program information for the current program after turning the tv on; even when scanning for channels over the air, I think that takes longer too compared to the other tv I used, but that tv I think also gave me the option to scan for only digital or analog, but this tv seems to scan for both without giving me the option to scan only digital channels, maybe wasting precious time -it doesn't show what shows/programs/content will be coming on hours in advance when I press INFO; it only shows what is coming on at the moment and after that (I think they call that program guide or something), the other tv showed program info for many hours later -when I was pressing the PIC SIZE button, I normally keep it on Native, but when I put it on Full, some parts of the picture were being cut out compared to the Native picture size. Not sure but that maybe seems like a defect; and if it really is, who knows what other defects there are in this tv that I won't even know about. I don't want defects in a tv I bought brand new -the remote control seems a little cheap/low in quality. Sometimes it's annoying to press button/s so that function, whose button you were pressing, occurs -the image or picture quality is maybe ok; Comparing default settings in dynamic picture mode, I'm not sure but I think the picture quality was better on the other tv I used (for the sale price I got it, I don't think the picture quality makes me want to return it but I should still maybe mention this) -the power consumption of this tv is more than I think some top brand similarly sized tvs; I don't know what is so negatively different about this tv that it uses that much more electricity/energy (it might not make a big difference on the electric bill) -speakers I think were louder on the other tv I used, maybe better sound too I think I read that Toshiba doesn't make tvs anymore (including this one) but some other company/s manufacture it. I don't know if that is a bad thing or if they manufacture it to a certain standard or specifications.

Screen Goes Black less than a week after I bought it

I bought this 55" 1080p LED TV (55L310U) from Best Buy less than a week ago. All of a sudden one night the screen goes black and no sound. After 30 sec or so the audio comes back. Remote control does not work when TV went black so I had to pull the plug to reset. And it keeps happening. Thank goodness this happened early so I can bring it back. Surprised no one else has experienced this considering all the positive reviews.

Great for the money

This TV is great value. If you view from the front great, a bit to the right and left side of tv it is a really good picture . to far right or left and it loses quality. This is as good as my Toshiba in right in front. Thanks

Do not purchase this TV. Great price and performance WHILE IT LASTS. 4 months in my back light system has went up and the tv needs to be repaired. After looking into multiple forums it seems that this is a big issue with many users. I was lucky enough to have the issue within my 1 year warranty but many others were not.

No frills TV and no buzzing sound (so far!)

No buzzing sound as others have mentioned (was on the lookout for it). Apart from that, the TV is good (not great but at this price point in Canada you cannot expect more from a brand name). If you are buying this TV, know that it is not smart (I was looking for a non-smart TV actually because I use chromecast). It has 3 HDMI inputs which is 1 more than most more expensive TVs (usually have 2 for some reason - I don't know why). The inputs are on the side of the TV (which I prefer) rather than the back. Easier to mount close to the wall and still have room for cables. Power cable attaches vertically which also makes this TV favorable for wall mounting close to the wall. The only con is the sound. It is terrible. And I mean TERRIBLE. Get a sound bar :)

Excellent TV

I bought this at the Moncton, NB Best Buy store. I love the TV. Picture is crystal clear, and the sound quality is much better than my old TV. The folks at Best Buy in Moncton were great to deal with. Would recommend to anyone.

Great TV for the price! Once you find the best settings, image quality is very good for a 60 hertz TV.

Great TV!

Bought it for [price] on Black Friday. No complaints so far. Great picture quality for the price. TV sound is fine but I run mine through a Samsung sound bar which makes a huge difference. Get a chromecast to make up for the lack of smart tv features and you have got a VERY good 55inch TV

Good for the price

Horrible neon sounding buzz coming from the set, impossible to focus on anything but that noise. Asked for an exchange and the new set still makes the same buzzing sound although much less noticeable. Your literally have to put your head behind the set to hear the buzz. Overall Picture - I would rate 7 or 8 on 10. Sound - Very thin -better to put it thought a sound bar. Buzzing sound - If you get one that buzzes ask for an exchange, chances are you wont get 2 bad sets in a row. Toshiba - 1 star Best Buy - 5 stars for easy exchange process.

Great TV 5/5

I bought my Toshiba 55 on black Friday. It's quite a great deal for the quality. Mine works fine and I have had no problems till now. With PS4 HD MI quality. You don't need a smart TV. It's really amazing. All you need is just any HDMI connection. Or HDTV. I will recommend. But get your warranty too for peace of mind sake.

We bought this TV on Black Friday. The 55" screen & price made it attractive. However there is a loud buzzing sound from the TV and we will have to return it sadly & see what the Oakville, Ont. store says. It's disappointing. These things can happen with electronics. But it's still surprising because it's brand new and out of the box. Not sure if we'll go with Toshiba after this experience.

Faulty LED backlight issues

I was very pleased with this purchase - size, image quality, and sound are great for the price. Within 10 days of purchasing this product, the left side of the TV dimmed. I am glad it happened within the 30-day return guarantee; I'll be getting my money back TODAY.
