I have been having problems with WiFI coverage for at least 4 years. I have bought extenders and other routers to try and solve the problem. The dual band TP-Link C9 has not only solved the coverage problems but made the speeds as fast as my wired connections. It was easy to install, took about 10 minutes, I like the stand as I have set it on a book shelf. It is located on the main floor and provides wired speeds to the basement and second story. Have had it installed for 2 weeks, and not one issue. Very impressed. For the price and the service quality it has to be one of the best buys. I liked it so much I purchase another for my son with the same results. Try it, you will think you have gone to WIFI heaven!
I'm going on memory a little, but I wanted to have QoS running and it required a firmware update to have the function available. Once updated, the printer server function no longer worked. I had to revert back to an older firmware to make the printer work again. The router that shipped was hardware V1 and at this point V3 is available, so I guess they're clearing out old units with a sale. So far I have not read that the V1 version has any known issues.
After about 4 years my old D-Link 850L router wifi stopped working and I needed to purchase a new router. I was deciding between the netgear 9400 or the TP-link C9 and went with the cheaper option for the first time in my life. I would say im an advanced user but my fiancé would be able to set this router up without any issues. This was the first time I heard of "beamforming" technology, and I can tell you that it does work! With the old router located in one of the spare bedrooms, it was hard to get a good wifi signal in the living room even with a range extender. Once I hooked up the archer c9, my wifi speeds were maxed out on all devices in any room in our house - My apple tv streaming in the living room has no issues now. Great product!
Been using it for almost a month now and I'm very happy with it so far. My first AC router and love the great range and fast speed.
I purchased this router less than a month ago as a replacement for one from another manufacturers when the Wi-Fi started failing. I am quite pleased with the performance so far. It seems to provide good coverage for the entire house with no weak zones.
Setup was very easy and the App to remotely manage it is very useful. My only minor annoyance with this router is in setting up Port Forwarding. Port Forwarding must be set using the Virtual Server settings and there is no way to assign a label or name, that I can see, to the particular port being forwarded. My old router allowed me to create labels to identify what the settings were for as a reminder.
I bought this router on sale and feature for feature is quite comparable to other ac1900 routers that were more expensive. I think this router represents excellent value.
I bought this router from my brother-in-law's recommendation, after I mentioned to him that my half my devices (laptops, desktop, phones & tablet, Android TV) just keep on dropping connections. He said older router just can't cope with all the connected devices (min. 5~7 devices in the evening at my home). So I bought it. And wow am I happy now. It's easy to setup. No connection drops, It's smooth as silk!
Only minor thing is the price... but it's rock solid so I think it's worth it.
He bought one and he loved it, now I'm loving mind too!
I bought this unit based on some online research and reviews. I was not disappointed with the performance of the unit. It is easily the fastest performing unit I have ever owned.
The only negative is the lousy firmware support by TP-LINK. Out of the box, the parental controls function was not working. I upgraded to the latest firmware and the parental controls is working, but DHCP and IP reservation is broken. I had to back up to the last " beta" firmware. But the parental control does not function fully the way it should.
I hope TP-Link will get the firmware updated.
I bought the C5 trying to be cheap but returned it as the range wasn't what i expected. I was replacing a much more expensive linksys model. I installed this one and there are absolutely no "deadspaces" in my house now. I'm extremely happy with the range and easy of configuration of this router. Pretty much takes 5 minutes out of the box and you are done. Keep in mind the 2.4ghz band has far greater range than the 5ghz. So you will end up connecting to either network depending how far away you get from the router. But the 2 rooms upstairs in my home that didn't get coverage by the linksys now have coverage. Don't buy any model less than this one for best results it's not worth the hassle. You won't regret buying this one.
very easy to setup, very power full, was able to stream youtube videos on 4 devices at the same time.
It gets the job done, 5GHZ signal works fantastic, 2.4's range could be a little bit better
Set-up took minutes and was quite simple.
Range seems good and using multiple device at the same job is no problem.
Range is superb, super high performance, it looks good and GUI is very clear and easy to use.
People left review bad reviews (i.e. difficult to setup, have to reset everyday), it's not router's fault, it's their ISP's fault.
Bridged via ISP modem. Easy set-up in minutes. Increased wifi range appreciably.
Up and running for about a month with no problems.
I had in this my house for 3 weeks now. I purchased it because of the reviews but I am disappointed that I have to unplug this rotour and plug in back in every couple of days. Tried calling support and they ran me through some software update. No change though. I think its time to try another one.
As we added more electronic devices and increased Netflix use, it became more and more clear that our old router was not up to the task. With some trepidation, I purchased this one, inspired by the excellent Thanksgiving sale price. With every router I purchased previously, installation had been a major hassle, and a couple of times I ended up resorting to Geek Squad out of frustration. In contrast, this one was a breeze--it took only a few minutes! Performance so far has been excellent as well, with strong signal reaching all corners of our large home. Highly recommended.
This router works amazingly with the newest firmware. You can find the firmware on the TP-Link website. i would suggest upgrading it to the latest before configuring the router.
QoS works great and has a simple interface to configure it.
Both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz radios are VERY strong. I had another AC router from a year ago and the range on the Archer C9 blows it out of the water. Easily doubled my coverage area.
The interface is easy to navigate and for the technical people, there is an advanced tab that has all of the configurable options that most other routers have. I was tempted to flash DDWRT on this router, but at the time of the review there is no way to return to stock firmware besides JTAG. The stock firmware is frequently updated though and the up-time on this has been great. NO issues, no dropouts, no locking up. Simply excellent.
USB ports work great, there is a simply configuration tab for them. They mount with no effort required. Able to browse to the simply by mapping the network drive or \\192.168.0.1 (default IP) in Windows Explorer. Drives show up, transfer speed is decent over AC.
I have multiple devices connected and configured via QoS and they are fine. A Laptop, Xbox One, PS4, Samsung Tablet, Chromecast and mutiple Android phones. No issues. Performing an Internet speed test over WiFi from the laptop maxes out my cable internet connection. I could barely get 80MB/s on my old router, on this one I get 120MB/Sec every time. This is a huge plus.
Not much else to say about this router, it works. I recommend it.
I've been using the Archer C9 router for about a month now. Replaced an older Asus model. Installation and setup is very easy, almost plug and play. Quality of the unit is remarkable. Well finished and solid. The administration menu is well laid out. It offers a basic interface and an advanced one. I like the dual 2.4/5.0 Ghz bands. Range on the 5.0 Ghz band is not as good but that's to be expected with higher frequency radio waves. On the 2.4 Ghz band the range has increased quite significantly compared to my old Asus - I now have a signal where I previously had none (e.g. on the deck outside, behind the furnace). Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase. Will definitely consider TP-Link again in the future.
I have been having a bad time lately with tech products with getting features to work or even getting the product to work at all.
Not so with the archer C9. Everything I have tried has worked using the wizard installers:
1. Router offers significant speed and coverage improvements over my previous N router - even for wireless N devices! My previous router was bullet proof fro dropouts and this one is looking good so far.
2. USB print server worked first time even though my cheap printer was not listed in the compatibility list - a bonus.
3. USB drive works and is accessible on my network on the USB 3 port
All without installation headaches!
The management software is well organized and easy to use and not buggy.
Router runs cool.
I can't ask for anything more.
I purchase this router largely based on the price. It was less expensive than all the other AC1900 router. My troubles started when I went to install it. I am using a Bell modem and could never get it to work. Bell says they have been getting call about this model. There seems to be an ip conflict. After 3 to 4 calls to tech support I finally got it up and running. I thought all was good and then the router crashed and again I called their support guys. They recommended resetting the router so I did. Problem showed up the next day BTW - the support company did not know who Bell was.
Long story short, I wasted hours trying to make this work. In the end I returned it and purchased a netgear ac1900. It install in 10 minutes and the performance is much better!
Beware the reviews and do your research on other sites. The other router are more expensive but based on the time I wasted getting this to work the saving went out the window.
Everything is good for this router but...
Setup screen does show much details, eg. No name for each reserving MAC address.
I had trouble setting up remote desktop logging in from outside network using noip. Others just fine with same config.
Sorry, router going back to store.
J'avais quelques limitations de signal à la maison, le routeur est très forte, j'aime aussi l'application, elle fonctionne sur iPhone et Android.
Ca fait quelques semaines qu'il est branché et nous n'avons aucune réclamation à faire. tout est ok!
Bought this as I had some latency problems while streaming, I installed this Archer c9 and set the priority to my smart tv and gaming laptop. Many people in the family are connected and we no longer experience issues,
It works fine, nice specs. Nothing super of the ordinary though. However, I returned mine because my old router-modem performed just as well (or atleast only a bit worse), without having to bridge it like I do now. Good or it's value though.
My old router was dropping constantly, and despite all attempts to fix it, I had to get a replacement. I was a bit concerned, since that one wasn't quite old (less then 2 years) and from a well recognized brand. I remember spending a fair bit on it.
I couldn't believe the difference in performance after installing the TP-Link. This thing is fast, and it's quite noticeable in my house, since we have about 8-12 devices connected to it, including two Apple TVs, laptops, desktops, smart phones, one Google Chromecast. And all those devices have had no problem in connection, and no lag.
This router is fairly new, and hopefully the performance stays the same. I would recommend this to anyone with mid - large house, and multiple media devices.
I am very exited today when I installed my new router, it looks very nice and the price was very satisfied. I strongly recommend this product.
My Internet is way faster now.
I spent some time in the configuration but all was configured ok,
The internet service runs well and I open websites and videos faster than previously. I like the design too.
I think this router is good, i am not sure how test more aspects but i am happy with my purchase
Bought one for the office,
15 devices are intensively downloading e-mails, streaming, providing webinars.
This router has a strong processor and ram! way better than the competitors!
I switched to TP-LINK two months ago, in my small apartment and in my office. All simply works flawlessly.
