I purchased my first Solo in December 2015. Since then, it has been replaced by the company (3DRobotics) four times due to crashes caused by hardware and software fails. Every crash puts an innocent life in jeopardy. Fly at your own risk and know that YOU are legally responsible when it crashes

Okay drone..just like the DJ phantom`s

I tried out this drone for 3 weeks it`s okay it like the all the Dj phantom they are just okay...and not bad...I will stick with my DJ1 Inspire now that`s a drone worth getting!! I love it next month I will be getting the DJ1 Inspire Pro Drone :)

Has potential

I was one of the first SOLO owners in Canada when I first came out. I'm an experienced RC enthusiast and built my own in he past. Do not get this drone until 3DR gets he act together and produces SOLO 2. If you are really lucky you might get a good copy. DJI product is by far the best on he market for what you can do with consumer multirotor, never mind the bias comments, take it from owner of both products. 3DR was good to give me my money back but all the trouble I had, wasted entire season and beta tested their product that should have never made it to market., they still owe me. DJI rocks...who cares about constumer service as if you really won't need them, at leas for the first year anyways as their quads fly great.

Love this machine!

If you're a Gopro user and looking for an aerial platform, this machine is worth your consideration. There's a lot happening in the pro-sumer UAV world right now and the 3DR Solo is bleeding edge. I'm new to UAV's and spent a year trying to decide if I wanted to bother trying aerial video because it isn't cheap but when this machine came out earlier this year, it's features pushed me to go for it. I have not regretted it! Do your research before buying, though! There are several 3DR Solo support groups on Facebook that have a wealth of useful information available not only about the machine but about aerial videography and using UAV's in general.

Works amazing

Love my Solo, I installed the gimbal and I've been using the smart shots to get really great drone footage. I was surprised at how flexible all of the settings were! Would buy again, great product.

Good Drone

I have had around 5-6 flights so far with no issues. Recommend to everyone to read the manual first and do all updates and level, compass calbration before first flight. Also on the first couple of flights leave on the stock settings. Find it very easy to fly and have since put the speed on max. Maybe not best for filming with speed on max but more fun to fly. On my last flight I was filming my Traxxas RC car and was flying only 2-3 feet off the ground at fast speeds. Keeps elevation well and only had to bump it up a couple of times. It can be a little hard to tell what direction you are facing. Wish the LED's were brighter. Be careful if close to objects because left can become right if drone is facing you. The only other things I wish it had was for the controller able to hold a ipad air. Plan on getting the gimble and backpack.

Frustrating start but getting better.

I have had some frustrations getting through some initial issues for flight and video. Now that I have these behind me I think I am going to really love operating this drone. Out of the box I could not get the drone to fly due to it's inability to get a GPS lock on satellites. It turns out the internal wire underneath the battery pack was not connected properly and I had to follow the directions in the manual to disassemble the drone (some prying of covers and unscrewing 7 small screws) to get at the circuit board and push the cable lock into the board better. Once this was accomplished the drone could sense the GPS satellites. It does still take up to 5 minutes occasionally for the drone to see enough satellites to allow for controlled flight. Next issue I had was I could not see the live video feed. It turns out you have to have the phone, controller, drone and camera all turned on and hooked up to wifi before you plug the camera into the drone ( I had been installing the camera with the cable prior to turning on as instructed in the training video). No clear instructions on this trouble shooting in the manual - I had to go on line to get this tip from 3DR. Now with all that behind me, flying the Solo drone is a blast and I love the video. Had I not have experienced these issues out of the box I would have given it a 5 star rating. I am still waiting for the gimbal to be delivered and I hope there are no further frustrations getting this additional tech to work properly. Happy aerial videoing!

Beautiful drone with a lot of features!

I recently bought this drone, and boy I am very impressed. I was on the fence between the DJI and the Solo. I'm glad I picked the Solo. My friend's Phantom 3 seemed a bit more shaky in strong wind, despite having a gimbal already. The autonomous modes, removable motors, changeable gimbal, and an overall upgrade-able system allows for great modularity and use for this drone. 3DR believes in their product, that if a fly-away occurs due to a bug, or error - they will replace it for free, including any gimbal or camera attached to it. PROS: +Modularity/Upgradeable +Ease of use with autonomous shot modes +Nearly dummy proof - it won't take off when there are clear errors. It trouble shoots with you +Fly-away warranty +Open source, using Linux computers and the ArduCopter system CONS: -No gimbal included at that price -Need to buy camera separately at that price

3DR Is A Joke, Don't Waste Your Time...

So once again I get a notification saying the release date has been pushed back. Bestbuy should be embarrassed for supporting/selling anything from 3DR. Don't waste your money, go with another brand, it'll never be released. Wouldn't recommend 3DR to my worst enemy.

Not released yet.

Not sure why you people are reviewing it when it's not out yet. Also you can attach a gopro to the included rigid mount. The gimbal is for stabilization and advanced controls. Gimbals are delayed and 3DR is offering a second battery free as compensation.

U need a gimbaled mount to shoot

Nice equipment to be sure but remember you need a camera mount to use your Hero camera. Quite an expensive part

best drone on the market!

This drone takes filming in the air to a whole new level with its smart shots and orbit control making the shots look like a expert took them!

Look before you leap.

Maybe you should research your purchase a little more before you make it. Just saying.... Might also want some extra props and a couple more batteries too.
