Sucks even more than a Bronze 5

This laptop might as well be a piece of trash. It worked fine for a short time but after it just started crashing and giving me the blue screen of death at random moments. As well the computer sometimes has seriously lag issues and after restarting the computer, it told me that the disk need to be fixed or changed and this has happened twice. Now I have to send it to get fixed. Wasting my time and my money. Also, when you install the laptop, the disk is constantly at 100% and if you don't fix it, the computer is slower than a tortoise. Also, when you buy the computer, it already has some apps installed such as these dumb games and the most annoying part is the Mcafee which pops up every hour saying to renew your subscription even though I don't want too. If you want a computer that works like a piece of poo and can't work a few months without crashing or giving the blue screen of death, this is the one for you. :)

It Has Issues...

I like the laptop and it does justice for what I need in a computer. #1 No CD / DVD Drive which is something I look forward to in a laptop. #2 I am currently having issues with the Battery. It does not hold a charge and is slowly losing any charge at all. ALSO, when I unplug the laptop to use only the battery power, the laptop shuts off and does not recognize a battery at all. Having to send it in for hardware repair under warranty is a nuisance as well as a pain in the butt! #3 When your subscription with McAfee is done, you still get non-stop pop-ups to renew your subscription and there is no option in the McAfee nor the Laptop settings to turn this notification (spam) off.

Not bad but not great

I had bought this one a few months back. It ran rather well but it quickly became slow, when I hardly did anything. And it's loaded with useless software and free trial games. The most disappointing aspect? There is no CD/DVD optical drive. I was wondering why I couldn't open up that port when I saw that it was screwed in tightly. Upon unscrewing it to see what the problem was, it's just a piece of plastic. I'm VERY disappointed as CD/DVD optical drives are the norm when it comes to laptops and desktops. Now I have to pay to have one installed. Don't buy this one.

Piece of crap!

Slow as molasses- I am assuming because there is way too much crap loaded on this thing, keyboard locks up and have to restart computer, constantly get a message IE not responding- same with msn live homepage, programs take forever to load, volume is a little off- almost tinny, don't like internal battery, And NO DVD player- why take the time to hunt something down and load it when you can pop in a disk. No longer a fan of ACER!!

I hate it!!!!

I hate the laptop.Waste of my money. I already sent it to acer to be fixed and 6 months later i have the same problem. It just switches off in the middle of nowhere. I hate it. I will never buy acer again

Random crash and restart

The computer is slim, looks nice and comes with a decent size hard disc and ram. I have had no issues with the wireless abilities and it seems to perform well online. I have had huge issues with random crashing that always involves a loud buzzing noise in headphones and a forced shut down/reboot. The machine does seen to run a bit warm, not hot, when being used lightly. The battery life under the balanced setting is poor and the battery is of the internal type....not a fan of this type. I would not purchase today with what I know, I purchased 2 of these at same time and only one is experiencing this issue. Others online have experienced same problems.

Piece of Junk

I never believe a laptop will not have a DVD drive in this modern age until I got this piece of junk. Unfortunately it discovered this late as I have a laptop and needed this as back up. Money lost

3.0 far

I'm not a computer geek. I just got this computer and I am packing to move, so haven't had time to really sit down and get to know it. I am hoping for the best. My star rating is a guess.

Decent laptop for the price

I purchased this when it was on sale, and it's a pretty good laptop with lots of speed and plenty of storage. A nice feature is the numeric keypad. The trackpad is a bit large, so it takes a bit of getting used to. I'd recommend using a mouse instead. Sound quality is on the tinny side unless you're using headphones. There does seem to be a bit of an issue with the keyboard locking up if the computer goes in to sleep mode, or if you don't shut down the laptop every time you're finished using it for a period of time. This occurred the second day I used it, and I had to research some solutions online as this is a known issue with some Acer machines. Apparently it's a driver issue, however, all driver updates have been installed. Online forums suggested removing the power cord and any usb devices, then shut down the computer and restart. So far, that seems to work for me. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you need to remove the battery, it's not easily done without a screwdriver, which is weird considering this is a newer laptop. All in all, I'd recommend purchasing this computer, however, if you do not have any experience in troubleshooting on your own, the little quirks may be very frustrating.

Good performance, LOTS of hardware issues

I purchased this laptop in August 2016, the CPU, ram, and hard drive speeds are very good and I never notice that much lag. The display and keyboard are also very good for viewing and typing. The main issues that I had were the laptop having random reboots, blue screens of death, and system crashes where it blasts very loud static and the display freezes. The laptop gets these problems anywhere from 2-5 each day. This might be a manufacturing issue, as I have friends who haven't had problems with their acer laptops from the same lineup, but the problems I am having are very inconvenient and happen WAY to often.

Slow laptop, loaded with bloatware.

Very basic slow laptop, loaded with bloatware. Spent days removing unwanted / annoying software that slows down the laptop even more.

  • from Toronto, ON

NOT RECOMMENDED: Nothing but problems

I bought this product in August, and have had many problems. I've been on the phone to Acer support over 8 times - the computer runs too slow, programs take forever to open and I've had to do a complete factory reset as it would not recognize my password and shut me out. So then I had to reload all my programmes and lost files. This not only took a lot of time, but is costing me money away from my work.

standard laptop

I do like this computer, it has been easy to use and can do all the online work that I bought it for. The speakers seem a bit underpowered but overall a good unit to have. Steef.

  • from Maple, ON

I return my laptop back to the store.

Many options not working. Like camera, touch pod. Sometimes it got frozen. I don't have time and knowledge to fixing all that . I decided to buy Apple MacBook.

Acer Aspire E 15" Laptop

I think it works well for what I wanted the computer for. I am able to help my child with their homework and this computer has made it easier to do so. Thanks.

  • from Saint Catharines, ON

Inspired by the Aspire !!

The Computer was for my 10 year old daughter. it fits her needs and demands perfectly for the price point. They play games on it, watch you tube videos and does homework. It processes well enough to suit her needs . Its look is very stylish. After a month of having this computer we have had no issues and it did replace her Chrome book because the Chrome book could not down load any Android platforms. Impressive unit so far!

  • from Toronto

DO NOT BUY IT(lasts for a while)

It is a great computer with the best battery life, but after a 8 months it loses its battery life becomes laggy, slow, and glitchy. Also a annoying feature is that the computer has 3 states ( off , on , and blank). The blank state happens when the power button is lightly press, what you see is a blank black screen that does nothing, and the only way to get it back is by reseating it. Do not buy it.

  • from Courtenay, BC

Love it !!!!!!!

It works so well and tons of room for data. love watching videos in it and games work on it too (minecraft, Kerble space program and all the office). I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

  • from Richmond Hill, ON

It was pretty good for the first 4 months, then it started having endless problems. My biggest problem: the computer turns off randomly, claiming it's out of battery, when it's actually 3/4 full. I realize the battery is probably damaged somehow, but I've only had it for a year! The mousepad is horrid. A simple game shoots the CPU usage to 100%. It comes loaded with a ton of useless programs. I wish I'd spent the money I did on this thing and bought something else.

Internal Wireless Card Problem

Keeps disconnecting from WiFi, and is not able to reconnect until the laptop is rebooted.

  • from Airdrie, AB

Absolute Trash

When you first setup the computer, there's soo much useless junk on it that needs to be uninstalled. I can't seem to open Google Chrome without it freezing up almost instantly. The wifi kicks me off every few minutes and I need to reconnect no matter how close I am to the computer. It's been absolutely disappointing

  • from Barrie, ON

its good

  • from Edmonton, AB

It's decent computer

This is a decent computer for what it is worth. Basic processor, so files and videos don't load as fast but it does the job. If you just need a computer for surfing the web and or school. Some things I do recommend is... 1) remove the TON of boot loaded software on the system (yikes) there is a lot. Frees up space. 2) Go look for a D.I.Y videos on how to increase basic PC performances, this helped speed up the laptop by a long mile. I didn't feel like paying BBY for it. 3) if you want a fast computer for gaming or running multiple programs at once, look for another system. You are going to have to spend some money if you want that. Other wise, overall pretty satisfied with the purchase. I didn't expect much.

Nope, Just Don't.

Never have I ever wanted to go back in time and slap myself so hard. This laptop is to computers what a flaming engine is to a plane. I've had this computer for about two years now, here are all the problems i've had so far: Flickering screen whenever the screen is moved in any direction, Dead pixels,Black screening, White screening (it's a thing), Broken charger, Broken camera, 2 total resets, no ability to update without resetting to months earlier (had to disable updates), no ability to hold a wifi signal long, not detecting usb drives, consistently saying usb drives have issues, mouse scroll is broken, RAM says its running 100% while being at 2 GB, and a boatload of other issues that I'm sure I'm forgetting or have gotten used to. If i had to sum up this computer in two words it would be "Garbage Fire". Would I buy this computer again or any acer again ? Not with a gun to my head.

  • from Orleans, ON

Ok but not great but any means

I was dissapointed in the overall speed of processing and internet use. The mouse pad is crap like another user mentioned. I will probably get used to it after a few months. I have not deleted all the programs I don't need so maybe that will help.

  • from White Rock, BC

It's ok...

I recently bought this laptop primarily for basic work use. It comes with a bunch of pre-loaded crap that slows processing immensely - if you are not a computer expert find someone to tell you what can be uninstalled. The mousepad/scrollpad is the biggest POS I have ever used (buy a mouse right away or you will want to throw your new computer out a window). It does not handle games well even at average graphic settings (not why I bought the laptop but wanted to mention). So, if you get this on a good sale like I did, probably worthwhile for basic use (email, word processing, presentations, etc.). Would never pay regular price or recommend buying this laptop for advanced use.

  • from Laval, QC

does not worth it

Do not buy this! many problems with it Un ordinateur digne des années 90!!

  • from Montréal, QC

It is an ok laptop

I bought this laptop before the school year. I enjoy it, the only thing that annoyed me is that it does not have Bluetooth. I have windows 10 which has Bluetooth but the laptop itself does not.

  • from Toronto, ON

Good laptop poor features

Great laptop for everyday use. Approx 5 hours of battery life. Didn't notice it doesn't come with a CD drive which isn't well advertised when comparing Acer laptops on this website.

  • from Belleville, ON

Seems okay. Have noticed once in a while I loose my jnternet connection and I have to click on again and I am back to the article I was reading. It is not my service as we do not have that issue with our other laptop or TV.

Look for another product

My one star rating is only because I have to enter a star. I really would give it a zero. I bought this laptop, and was immediately having internet issues (wifi being dropped). We had Bell come and there was an issue with the line. Bell fixed that, so I thought the problem would go away. It didn't. Within 2 days, I reinstalled windows to try to fix the problem. I have updated the driver, and searched for fixes; but I cannot keep a wifi signal for more than a few minutes. In searching for answers, I found the following site, full of other consumers with the same issue with this model. (the review guidelines won't allow me to enter the URL, so go to the acer community and type in "Acer Aspire E15 limited internet connectivity issues Wifi", and you will find others with this issue). I have had this for less than 3 months, and wish I hadn't spent my hard earned money on it. A word to the wise, spend your money on a better product.

Perfect for students!

I just bought this laptop today. It was a choice between this one and the 14" of the same laptop. What I liked most about it was the fact that this one in particular has a 1000gb hard drive, where as the 14" has only 500gb. Its pretty fast, although I made it faster by deleting all the bloat wear it comes with. With that being said there was ALOT of bloat wear pre installed, but it took no time at all to delete it. The touchpad is incredible. I used to have an older laptop so I'm still adjusting to having no lag what so ever. Another con I personally think is a con is the way e keyboard looks. I feel that with it being so elongated and close to the screen it makes the bottom half of the laptop appear larger which overall makes the computer look larger than a 15.6" screen.I've heard that this computer crashes within a year by a friend but, that's the first and only time I've heard/read it. Over all I really like this computer, and its performance so far! Great computer for a student who just wants a laptop for the basics!
