Cheap!

Touch screen is very cheap and does not take your command properlly - it gets frozen and does not react on your commands right away. Hardware build is so, so, I was expecting better finish. Will return it tomorrow!

Defective

It seemed like a great value for the money at first. The HD display is stunning, backlit keys, convertible touch screen and AC wireless and usb 3 but was too good to be true. Just a few days after beginning to use it and no extra s/w installs other than windows updates the system became deadly slow. It got even worse when it started locking up completely to the point where I had to hard shut down. There were several disk check repairs run thst took hours and when I analyzed the drive it had 38% fragmentation. How is that possible in a brand new laptop? My guess is a defective hard drive. Maybe it was just bad luck and I hope others had a better experience but I did not wish to tske the risk and replace and BestBuy was great in letting me exchange it for a different brand. I went with an HP with less bells and whistles but much faster core i5 processor and it blows the Acer away in performance for same peice on sale.

Acer Spin 3 offers more than you’d expect

These old eyes wanted a big IPS screen but these old legs wanted a tablet to hold while sitting in a comfy chair. Tried several 11", 12", 13" tablets and flip/spin/rotate convertible laptops leading up to the Acer Spin 3 15.6" purchase. The Acer Spin 3 Intel i3 differs from the Intel i5 only in the Turbo Boost feature - but who’s going to notice at its full-time 2.3 Ghz any change toward the 2.8 Ghz boost limit? The best feature about the Acer Spin 3 isn’t even mentioned in the ads. The Acer Spin 3 has an unused internal m.2 sata port with a mounting post for a 2280 SSD - used in some places where it can be ordered with SSD. Bonus! Of course I put in a big m.2 sata SSD, cloned free the HDD to the SSD, made the SSD the boot drive. The original HDD is now a dedicated data disk. How many laptops in this price range (or even higher) are able to run 2 internal storage drives? Ram memory is so cheap that the single removable sodimm was replaced with 8Gb bringing it up to its limit of 12GB total. FAST! I deducted one rating star for the lack of a RJ45 Gigabit ethernet port (there is room) since I mostly prefer hard-wired over WIFI. The Acer site is sparse on Spin documentation and support but the “community” forum postings nicely explain the extra SSD capacity. Screen properties are above par including the eye-care features. Front-facing speakers sure beat the rear-mounted. The Spin has a lit keyboard - rare in this price range. l’ll miss the DVD writer but slim lines prevail.

Great laptop

I've had this for a week now, and like the reviewers of the i5 model I also had 100% disk usage right out of the box, but a quick google search showed me this was more of a Windows 10 Anniversary update problem than an Acer problem. I disabled all of the processes listed as problems and have had no performance issues since. It did take several hours to load all the updates right out of the box. It's a little loud - makes a weird clacking sound when it's working sometimes- but not enough to warrant a return. Battery life seems good - although I leave it plugged in most of the time. The ports are all in reasonable spots (not along the back like I've seen some models). There is no CD drive and the battery isn't removable. The 360 feature works as promised - when it's fully in tablet mode the keyboard is inactive so you don't accidentally type something - and the touch screen works in either mode. In tablet mode the screen autorotates so you can look at long spreadsheets all one screen. So far I'm very pleased with it.
