It provides four different pattern modes for versatile recording, so can capture something ultra-quiet or deafeningly loud.

More Information

  • Stereo mode uses both the left and right channels, perfect for capturing a realistic, general sound image
  • Cardioid mode is best for podcasts, sung vocals, and other voice work - it records sound that is directly in front of the microphone, delivering rich, full-bodied audio
  • Omnidirectional mode picks up sound equally from all directions, which is ideal for capturing a true-to-life ambience, like a live recording of a band's performance
  • Bidirectional mode records from both the front and the rear of the microphone, perfect for capturing the nuance of a musical instrument, or recording an interview between two people
  • Includes controls for headphone volume, pattern selection, instant mute, and microphone gain so you can manage every aspect of the recording process
  • Adjust the microphone's sensitivity to reduce distortion and feedback or use the instant mute button to take a break
  • Equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack so you can listen to what you're recording in real time with no latency delays
  • Innovative tri-capsule array enables sophisticated recording techniques
  • The stylish, retro aesthetic boasts a metal grille and shiny, chrome-toned frame that are inspired by classic recording equipment
  • A hinge lets you adjust and pivot the microphone in relation to the sound source to improve sound quality and use the set screws to secure its position
  • The microphone can be folded down for easy portability, or removed completely from its base for field recordings
  • No complicated drivers for hassle-free setup
  • Simply plug it into your computer's USB port with the included USB cable, calibrate it with your operating system, and you're ready to record
  • Requires a minimum of 64MB RAM and is compatible with Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP (Home and Professional), and Mac OS X (10.4.11 or higher)

Extremely Happy

Bought this about a year ago. I use it on BOTH Windows and OSX with no issues. Sound quality is great. Now I need to get a spring arm with a shock isolator because the stand picks up ALL the keyboard noise when I type.

This microphone does is not reliable at all. I've tried everything, and it only works when you plug in a dual sided 3.5 mm wire into the microphone port, and then YOU LITERALLY CAN'T PLUG IN A HEADSET!!!! I've literally tried everything, and people have gotten new ones and they still don't work.Apparently, the blue yeti may randomly stop or start needing to be plugged in with the wire, which makes this extremely unreliable. Honestly, either save up or get, like, a logitech mic or something.

Warrant does not work!

I bought one of these, an in 4 months mine broken. I tried to contact the company and best buy to repair or exchange my blue yeti and not of them helped me! The company only replied once and then never more, and the reply was a automated message, like copy and paste. The mic is very good, but the company behind it, isn't.

Great Mic

Great mic, buy it when there's some type of discount. There are no drivers for Windows 10, keep it in mind. Works great so far, no problem with it.

Really picks up more than I expected

As far as picking sound, it seems to work really well. (I'm using the cardiod pattern, for online speech.) I am sitting about 2 feet away, and the other party claims to hear me very well, and it even seems to pick up stuff further behind me and from kitchen half a house away. It's quite heavy, larger than I expected (in diameter and in height) but feels sold and well built. My only complaint with it, and why I didn't give it a five star review, is that the knobs on the side don't really lock it into place well... they need some teeth or something. It's also a minor thing, but the way the cord plugs into the bottom interferes with the base if you need to rotate it upside down for access to the mic port on the bottom. The power light is red, and flashes when muted. This is a bit of a bad design... when not in use I'd like to keep it muted, rather than have to unplug it... but the flashing would drive me crazy. I really think they should have made the light green when plugged in and powered on, and then have it go solid red when muted.

Had for a year, still works like brand new!

I've been using it in my studio for over a year, been using for voicing animation projects and network cartoons. Had it for a year and the microphone still works like brand new from the box. Would recommend the Yeti to anyone. Bought the Samson Meteor, and other competitor and returned them the same day! Both had horrible manufacturer defects, static noise, and cable problems. It is safe to say that Blue is one of the best companies to make recording devices in the whole market. P.S - be sure to cover it from dust and get a pop filter!

It's good but often "short term"

I have had 3 Blue yeti microphones, and in each case after about a year or so of use it stopped being recognized as a blue yeti, It turned into an "advanced USB device" or " 2 - usb device" in these cases the mics still work but they lose some of the quality, but very quickly they degrade down to the point where the USB cord has to be bent hard and in exactly the right position for the mic to even be seen by my computer. these are good mics for a while but look into saving for another one or upgrading in about 10 - 13 months. Pro / con: The only real downside I have for the "Blue yeti" is the weight, which is taken up mostly by the casing, the actual microphones and circuit boards are relatively light, the case is just heavy as hell for absolutely no reason

Great Mic but victim of productions error

The quality of this mic is fantastic for the price, but I own several and the silver series has a production error with the microphone thread, preventing a tripod from being used.

Bought in early April, been using daily, still works like new!

I left a review about two-three months ago when I just bought it. Used daily for production recording, still works like a brand new professional microphone! Much better than other competitors or any of the Snowballs. BIG NOTE: cover it with cloth whenever you leave it, dust gets on it quite fast. Recommend!

Got it 3 days ago, so far so good

Some people complain that the faulty model they have received is the typical Blue Yeti model, false. This microphone works wonderfully so far. A friend has been having it for years without any problem. Some people may receive a weak power cord outlet in the microphone which should be payed attention to and replaced. Otherwise, it is worth buying. Great crystal clean sound, wonderful options. Closest thing you can get to a real professional studio microphone.

Like the curate's egg ..... good in parts!

As I was preparing to provide some narrations for a company's video tutorials, I thought I would look for something a little more professional than my headphones/microphone combo, and with better sound quality. My research led me to the Yeti Blue microphone. I was using a very basic audio programme (Audacity) and the narration sample I had sent to the company was recorded using Audacity and my headphone/mike set. I was offered the commission based on the sample file that I sent. Then I bought the Yeti. After plugging it in, using the USB port, I fired up Audacity and tested the microphone. I was extremely impressed with the quality of the sound that was recorded. There was no comparison between the Yeti recording and my sample narration. I made a Yeti copy of my previous sample recording and sent it to my client, who was likewise impressed with the greatly improved quality. Close to the end of the job, I prepared for the final two recordings only to find that I could get no response through the Yeti. No matter what I tried, nothing recorded. Delving into the bowels of my computer and changing settings did not produce any useful results. I came to the sad conclusion that the Yeti was faulty. I returned it to BB and exchanged it for a new one. That one worked perfectly, which leads me to believe that the original Yeti had died. R.I.P. The replacement has worked well and it functioned as soon as it was plugged in. If the first Yeti I purchased had not failed, I probably would have given 5 stars, but because there was a problem, and always the fear that the same thing could occur again, I give it 3 stars.

over rated

The Blue Yeti is 1. Unnecessarily too big 2. Mine broke fast (the outlet for the cord) 3. If you don't have a compressor your done for because the mic is very sensitive 4. If you want a shock-mount for it you have to buy the special blue yeti one (that's over priced) 5. A very heavy microphone.

Very Good Audio Quality

Very simple, powered via usb. different recording methods, with a gain controller for how sensitive you want the mic to be. Headphone jack with amplifier found on mic is amazing, very clear, very good audio quality. Highly recommend for any purpose(gaming, recording, video chatting etc.)

Yeti Mic + Apple Computers

I've hada Yeti microphone for a while now, and it was a wonderful mic, good sound quality, easy to use. 10/10 would recommend to anybody with a Windows computer. However, something in the microphone is incompatible with Apple's new Mavericks software, and a loud static gets in the way every time the microphone is used. So if you have a Mac that's currently running Mavericks, don't get this!! It won't be worth it

This is a great microphone and it's really easy to use! 5 stars!

Blue Yeti is great

I use this microphone with Dragon Speaking and am very happy with it. I can be 12 inches plus away from the mic dictating, speaking conversationally and the pickup and accuracy of my dictation is very commendable. My only con is that the volume and gain controls seem to be very flimsy, not in keeping with the quality of the rest of the device. It shouldn't be a problem in that I won't be using those two controls very much. When you install the mic, you might find that your speakers don't work. Go into control and click on "Sound' icon. With mine, three icons displayed. Disable all icons except the one that has 'Speaker", that should fix the problem. I recommend this product as being very worthy.
