Outstanding value - laser is the way to go!

Essy setup with included CD. I replaced my HP and the print quality on this printer is outstanding with duplex, nice paper handling and storage. I saw some comments here regarding plastically feel but this unit is solid and easy to assemble. Energy star rated - get a brother!

Up and running on Windows Vista

Bought a second printer for my dad because i got one for myself before. Good and reliable. When installing on Windows Vista more steps were required, but support website from Beother Canada has the steps to do it.

The Brother is Righteous

I have used HP inkjet printers in my home office my whole adult working life. As an academic, I run through loads and loads of printing, very little of it in color. So I finally wised up and gave up on paying through the nose for color ink that I seldom use. Step to Wisdom I: I moved on to the laserjet printer. Mistake: I tried to stick with HP. We have two people working out of our home offices, so we need wireless. I just went through over a month of non-functional wireless hell, and two HP laserjet printers. Then, Step to Wisdom II, I looked at reviews and traded the last wireless-incompatible HP laserjet printer in for this Brother model. Mes amis, this thing works. It comes with great directions. It is super easy to set up. They do not supply the cord, and irritatingly recommend going out and buying a USB cord to set up the printer--Yet the wireless set up works completely fine. The Brother wireless works like a dream, for everyone hammering out documents in offices throughout this house/satellite work farm. Now I like my printers like I like my men: Black brothers. I am kidding. Buy this one though. It's so much better.

A great printer, easy to use and install (my grandson did that!)

So far so good, but I haven't used the scanner yet. This is the second Brother printer I've had and I think Brother is the best.

Good Printer/Scanner

Does what it's supposed to do. Much better than replacing ink cartridges all the time.

Happy University Student

When I realized that it was becoming too expensive to keep printing my documents at the campus library, I decided to purchase this printer. It has been excellent during my first year of university. I've been using it to print out readings, assignments, important documents, etc... It's been especially helpful when my husband needs to print out multiple pages for large pdfs. It has been such a help in printing out flash cards and colouring pages for our daughter to enjoy. It's really only had a few paper jams. It was fairly easy to remedy. It prints really well on card stock for crafts and index cards. I am very happy to have purchased this printer! :)

Wait for it to be on sale

Got this DCP-L2520DW on sale (50% off) and I'm satisfied with it. Does everything as advertised. But be aware that this entry-level all-in-one machine has some drawbacks, mainly that it can't print more than about 25 pages at a time from a computer before stopping with the error message: out of memory. Brother's support page suggests reducing print resolution if this occurs, but there are no adjustable settings for that anywhere on this model.

Not an All-In-One Printer only a 3-in-1 Printer

Purchased this printer because it said it was an all-in-one printer. Even the specifications state it is capable of faxing. This printer does not fax it only prints, copies and scans. Other than that the printer functions well so far.

Fast Printer

Great fast little printer. Warms up quick and is always available whenI need it. Very easy to set up with a new router. I can print from all of my devices.

Great printer & easy set-up

This printer has been great. I had no problems setting it up wirelessly with my PC, Mac, or Android phone. However, I did also get a USB cable for initial set-up, in hopes of avoiding any wireless-related issues, and I've had none. I haven't had to use the cable since set-up (although I should have been able to set up without the cable in the first place but I didn't try). Overall great printer for the money.

Best printer I've owned

I bought disposable HP printers for years and finally saved up enough to try out a laser and what a life-changing experience it's been. I don't have to waste hundreds on ink that dies within 2 weeks, I don't have multiple problems when I try to print anything, it's been a smooth ride with my Brother laser printer! Wouldn't turn back, super easy instructions and very simple to operate.

Very Happy with my new Brother Printer

I was surprised how quickly the printer arrived, in only 3 or 4 days. The setup was easy and now I've been using it for almost a month without a hiccup. So far, so good!

Brother DCP-L2520DW Printer

Only had a week. Easy to set up, and print quality seems good.

  • from Richmond Hill, ON

It works pretty well for me.

Great printer for home office. And I can print documents from iPhones. Very handy.

  • from Halifax, NS

It is good

Generally speaking, it is easy to use and prints well

Love my first laser!

Looks great, exactly as expected! Very easy to hook-up and wireless printing is a breeze! One thing to note. It was a bit bigger than I imagined. Almost didn't fit in my work space and the manual does ask for air ventilation clearance around the printer. Be sure to measure your space and check the dimensions before ordering to ensure it works for you!

good buy

Reliable, quality product. Easy setup. Recommend.

Great Printer - Wireless

My old mono-laser printer died after 12 years of service. This is my replacement. The print quality is good, and all my devices are wirelessly connected to it (Windows 10 laptops, Ipad, Macbook, Android phones). Setup took about 30 minutes. With a decent router, you shouldn't experience any issues. If you do, try reserving it's IP address. The WPS option is the fastest and most reliable way to connect it to your Wi-Fi.

  • from Richmond Hill

Very good wirelss printer and copier

Easy to setup (done in mere minutes). Easy to use. Decent paper capacity (250 sheets) Very good b/w print speed (27 pages) It's a little bulky and I wish a tray slid out where the printed documents appear but that isn't a big deal. I can't complain. It's all I need at a good price point (got it on sale) and good performance

  • from Ottawa, ON

It took over a week in the mail but when it arrived it was fine. Easy set-up. Good quality print.

Mac User - not so great

I found I had to re-install the driver/software every time I wanted to print something wirelessly from my Mac. OSX 10.10 I also have a Dell (Windows 10) computer that it printed from every time without problems. Trouble shooting from the website was really time consuming and got me nowhere on the Mac. I took it back and Best Buy let me trade to a different printer (different brand) that I set up wireless at my home on both computers within minutes.

  • from Victoria, BC

obviously best buy is writing their own reviews - printer DOESNT work

it is always "not connected" and you have to restart the printer EVERYTIME YOU WANT TO PRINT. DO NOT BUY DO NOT BUY DO NOT BUY

Returned after 2 weeks

I picked up this printer after reading reviews, but sad to say I had to return it. Was excited about the Wireless printing feature, but it never seemed to work consistently. One night, within a 5-minute period, it went from printing across all devices to not being recognized by any of them, and then back to working on only some of them. Exchanged it for an HP which works great.

Overall content

Overall happy with this purchase, though I have had difficulty getting the wireless feature to work.

Great Printer and Copier!

I've had this printer for over a year and it is amazing! This is my first Brother printer. Definitely recommend it.

Scanner Fails to Connect

This is the worst wireless scanner printer I have come across. Have had to contact Brother several times because the wireless connection fails. Have had to download the software several times and the scanner works after each download and fails the next time. Worst is that the support is through chat only, unlike Cannon which has a technician available for support..

good deal and good printer

Good compact 3-in-1

This is very similar to the DCP-L2540DW, but without the document feeder and ethernet port. I've read customer reviews that claim there is no USB port, but that is incorrect; you can connect the printer directly to your non-wifi computer with a cable (not supplied) that has a Type B plug on the printer end. Other reviewers have also expressed frustration with the printer not being found on the network. I suspect this has to do with the dynamic assignment of local IP addresses. The first thing I did after connecting it to the wifi network (easily accomplished with the router's WPS button) was to go into the router settings and reserve an IP address for the printer, so that it will remain static. This may not be a necessary step, but it's worth trying if you have problems. I agree with others that the LED screen is pretty pathetic, and the machine does clatter ominously when printing. But it's a good, compact machine for those who don't use fax (most of us, these days) or seldom copy multi-page documents. If you do think you might use a document feeder, the 2540 is not much more expensive and in fact is more regularly discounted than this one.

Perfect for me. Easy to use from many miles away. Your print outs will be waiting for you when you get home. I love this high tech stuff. Even though i am stupid when it comes to computers?

Amazing All-in-one

This product was beyond my expections

  • from Deep Bay, BC

Oh Brother!!!

I purchased this printer a couple of weeks ago and am very pleased. It was easy to setup with clear directions - I personally like the pictures. I have used it to copy, scan and print from both my computer and phone. The quality of all three of these functions very high. The only complaint I would have is it is a little loud when it prints but this is compensated for with the quickness of the printing. With what I have seen so far I would most definitely purchase this printer again if I had the need. I would also encourage anyone who is looking for a monochrome laser printer to consider this one. You will get very good bang for your buck!!!

Awesome Laser Printer/Copier combo!

Replaced my HP inkjet multi after it died last month. Read some reviews of this beauty and found one at a great price, so took the plunge. Was looking for laser over inkjet as the consumables on the inkjet are too much hassle. Just needed copy and b/w printing capability and this has just what I'm looking for. Pulled it out of the box, set it on my desktop, connected my usb cable that formerly connected my HP, connected the power cable and installed the software. All was seamless and fast and was test printing in minutes. Dead simple and so far works as promised - which is GREAT! Can't speak to the wireless snafus as I'm all cabled here due to security concerns. Only con is the display could be lit and is kinda small for these old eyes. I'd reco this wonder to anyone in a heartbeat. Nice work Brother!

My New Printer

One major problem it took me 2 hours to set it up. The reason being I had no idea I wasn't pressing the actual start button. I kept changing plugs and cords and anything I could think of for why it wasn't going on. After almost 2 hours I sat there and looked at the machine and realized there was a little button on the left side at the top, with no name. I pressed it and what do you know the machine has 2 start buttons one that works and one that doesn't. I think the manufacturer should know about this. Overall great machine so far. Great price.

Great product

This was easy to connect to my wifi network, affordable and easily allows me to print from my mobile devices.

  • from Mascouche, QC

Nice printer but consumable expensive

We purchased this printer as an add-on for our office where it is used sparingly. This IS NOT an office printer by any means. Setup was easy (lucky we had a Laptop to connect) and is working flawlessly. The only downside is that Brother printer consumable are a bit more pricey and print fewer pages that other Lazer printers. This is why we gave it a 4 out of 5 overall score. Would we buy another one? Yes, if the volume of printing was the same. Any higher and we would definitely go with a HP.

Absolutely no problem, it works wonderful. Very good buy. Thanks

  • from Mississauga, ON

Very good printer

The printer has worked well since set up except for the WiFi connection after a few days. The scanning feature would not communicate with the router and had to get Brother Support to assist. Also the basic instructions do not include the set up of the scanning and printing utility which provides many features. Overall very good value and goodbye to expensive inkjet refills.

  • from Brampton, ON

Wi-Fi will not stay connected

I'm very pleased with the speed and output quality, but I have 2 kids and a wife always commenting on how this freek'n printer will not stay connected to our network, not even for a day! Frustrating to have to reboot the printer each time we need to print from it. I wish I could have said this printer is great, but I can't. Consider only if you plan to connect via cable.

  • from Nanaimo BC

great printer, but problems with Apple AirPrint

It took me only a few minutes to set up the drivers on my mac, connect to wireless router, and enable google print. However Apple AirPrint would lose connection every time the printer went to sleep, so printing from iPad through AirPrint or the brother app seldom worked. After a couple of days of researching online I learned that you need to enable IPV6 on the printer. I also assigned the printer a static IP address. One of the steps fixed the AirPrint issue (I think it was enabling IPV6), and now printing from iPad and iPhone works great. scanning also works great. it is a four star printer, but for making it so difficult to determine how to set up a popular feature I only give it three stars.

Efficient, Functional, Economical

I find no problems so far. Paper is loaded to 75% of tray, no paper jams. Very satisfied!

Good Buy!

a good purchase, but it would be better to have an easy to scan system with this printer
