It was a faulty unit rebooting automatically.

Works well and very easy to setup.

I was not getting a good wireless signal at the back of my house when my router was at the front. I needed good signal strength for Netflix and streaming. This product took longer to unbox then it did to get working. I now have a functional video stream where even my wireless range extended wasn't completely reliable. The only downside is that one of the modules doesn't have a female plug built in.

Works Great

I have a router in the basement and the laptops on second floor were getting average WiFi signals. This device works as promised and the laptop on second floor gets the same speed. But I have noticed two problems (1) After installing this device I get disturb in the PC's external speakers. Funny enough, the disturbance sound is higher when volume is lowered and goes away on higher volume! (2) The touch switch operated lamp stopped working. But sometimes it switches itself on and then it can be switched off by touching it.

Creates interference

Works great for ethernet signals. I got this unit because I have my router installed next to my PC in the basement and my son's laptop on second floor was not getting WiFi signals properly. Now he gets same speed as I get on my ethernet connection. But I have noticed that this device creates interference in signals through the home electrical wiring because (1) Now I get hum in my PC music system (speakers). which surprisingly is more when the volume is lowered and goes away when it is increased. (2) It made my touch operated bedside lamp stop working. It intermittently comes on or off.

Quality of power lines is important

I have tried this at a couple different locations in my home in an attempt to improve network connectivity versus WiFi for some slower/older WiFi devices. I learned that the quality of the power lines in the home, plus the way the home is wired (multiple outlets on one breaker versus different outlets on different breakers) affects the reliability of holding the connection between the devices and the data throughput. In one location I could not use it as I could not maintain a constant connection between PC device and router device PLUS the throughput was pathetic (1MB/sec if lucky and at times long pauses of no throughput at all). In that case I had to run a long Ethernet cable which got the job done for that location. At another location in the home I have found over the past 2 years the connection to be solid (from PC to router) with a throughput of approx the same as my G band WiFi of 54mbit. So it has done the job for that PC (that PC isn't used for much other than data backup). But the throughput of this one success is not always the same. It fluctuates making that PC useless for online gaming or acting as a media server for HD video to my TV's. I just use this PC for casual web and data backup. The concept of these devices are great, but in reality they are not a high performing devices, particularly if your home is wired in such a way that it doesn't work well for what they need. In the end I ended up selling the 5 devices I purchased and running long Ethernet cables and boosting WiFi router signal strength.

D-Link PowerLine AV500 3-Port HD Media Starter Kit (DHP-P339AV/RE)

Works on & off... I have a few observations: 1) seems to heat up a lot...not sure if this is normal - I need to unplug every other day to let it cool down 2) can't get anything more that 25 Mbps, I assume it has to do with the power outlets? 3) middle light never holds a steady green light - fluctuates between green and amber all the time - it hasn't affected the steaming, but not sure if it's supposed to do that

Good Value

The flexibility to connect upto 3 devices with LAN is awesome and works extremely well. Great value for money !

Works very well for Netflix and streaming

I was looking for a means to be able to stream movies and use Netflix in my rec room, but I did not have a strong wi-fi signal and did not want to spend a lot of cash. I plugged this in as instructed, and it was instantly working. I am using an old PC that was gathering dust since I purchased my laptop, along with a wireless keyboard. The Powerline unit was exactly what I needed. Remember to purchase the kit for your initial setup as it includes both transmitter and receiver, along with a couple of (very short) Ethernet cables.

Easy to install and works well

Installed downstairs where wifi didn't reach very well and gives me 26+ mbps connection. Main computer gets 26-27 so seems to be very little if not no loss in connection speed. I have yet to try multiple devices it on it though. Great product works well - just plug into outlet and router and then the other into another electrical outlet in the house.

Very Good

works great. very convenient and reliable.

Works great!

Had a little trouble with set-up, but once I read and followed the instructions everything went well. My device really slows down with wifi so I needed a wired connection. The powerline adapter was exactly what I needed.

  • from Toronto, ON

works ok

quite stable, works slower than direct internet connection, but more stable than wifi.

  • from Vancouver, BC

Not impressed

expected a faster and more reliable connection than my home wifi, but ended up with a slower and unstable connection using the powerline.

  • from scarborough

reveiw about product

this product is good only when ur internet speed more than 15 mpbs.it does not work at 5 mpbs.

  • from Victoria. BC

plug it in and go!

I would give 5 stars but the speed gain was only about 20% versus my wifi.
