Two cameras at cottage

I have set up two of these cameras at a remote cottage. They work perfectly. The tilt and move feature is excellent, enabling the review of the entire area in front of the camera. The set up is easy.

UIne excellente caméra

En lisant les évaluations précédentes, j'étais un peu découragé, mais j’ai quand même pris le risqué et j'ai bien fait. C'est une excellente caméra. Le stup n’a pas marché par l'application mobile, mais ça m'a pris 5 min avec l'ordi. Il faut simplement donner les bonnes réponses aux bonnes questions. Vraiment facile à faire. Fait un peu de bruits lorsqu'elle tourne, mais sinon le son est OK. Donne une très belle image. Je l'ai depuis 4 jours, 24/24 branchée. Aucun problème. Très recommandée. C'est bizarre que Bestbuy ait seulement des évaluations en anglais??????

Pricey but Works Great

I always go on vacation and used this camera to monitor my home. Love the motion detection feature. It sends me push notification and several pictures when there is a motion. App works fine. Remote view quality depends on your network speed. Setup is a pain. Once it is up, it works great.

I have a DCS 5010 & 5020 - Don't Touch the 5030!!

To remote view you have to login to MyDlink.com, well you can try. This is an exercise in frustration. Every time I visit, I am messaged that I need to download and install the plugin. Plugin fails to install virtually very time. I have tried it with Safari and Firefox, changing settings etc. The few times I actually saw camera video it seemed ok. However, there is a looong lag between sending a command, e.g., to rotate left and actually seeing the camera rotate left! In my experience, camera is ok but Dlink's website is difficult to access and very slow - if you are lucky enough to get it working!

Utter Junk

I have bought 10 over the last year, 6 of the 10 failed within the first few months, all for different reasons, funny colours in the images, no images, constant self reboots, self resets (need to reconfigure again and again). Some of the replacement devices for the defective devices were defective themselves straight from the box. Setups are buggy and the web interfaces are also buggy. Also noticed the "cam in use" green blinking led blinking away on two of the replacement units, leds stop blinking when I cut the internet connection - seriously wondering about the cloud security. Nice when they work but cannot be trusted to work for very long.

Excellent stuff

I have four of these placed strategically around my house and view the video streams remotely with the MyDlink app which is free. You can also monitor remotely through the MyDlink web interface. To view the video streams remotely, you have to create a MyDlink account and register each camera with MyDlink. This is probably the hardest part. The setup wizard that Dlink supplies is excellent, and I have had no problems registering cameras with MyDlink. You have to adjust your firewall to allow the setup wizard to see your cameras on your local network, and the setup wizard tells you this, though not as prominently as it should. These low-end cameras from D-Link are not full-featured. At the least, they allow remote video monitoring and sending snapshots and video clips upon motion detection (this works decently). So do a little research and buy the camera that suits your needs so you don't end up writing a 2 star review with nothing but whines in it. There's always a knowledgeable floor person at most BestBuy locations who can answer most of your questions even if it's about how to get these set up (in case you're having trouble). I'm satisfied with this product. and Best Buy offers a decent price. Just keep in mind you get what you pay for.

D Link DC@-3030L

Camera is not easy to easy to set up if like me you are challenged by anything to do with computers. Part of the hassle is installing the plugins for the browser (Chrome will not work fro some reason). The silver lining is that the people at the help desk were very supportive. After an an least an hour of trouble-shooting we got it to work. Now an hour of trouble shooting may seem a long time to you but after dealing with the wait times imposed by the likes of Shaw and Microsoft, Dell, Air Canada, VISA etc. (you get the picture) I find waiting a mere hour to be a refreshing improvement. On top of that its actually works so no need to return - again a refreshing improvement.

Don't waste your money

Cameras are good quality but the app (Dlink lite) is absolute garbage. Continual problems with camera feeds. If the power fails you are back to the begginning with set up, which is a nightmare. Customer service is absolutely useless, unless you like wasting your time. I would give zero stars if that was option. Unfortunately the cameras are only useful if the app actually works, which it never does reliably. Junk.

Greatly Disappointing

Very poor everything. Refresh rate is extremely slow. Settings were not easily changeable. Disconnected frequently. Poor night vision. Can't see through class or window screen with night vision. Manual focus was impossible to perfect. Panning features very difficult to use. I do not recommend this product in any way

Garbage camera...horrible setup experience

This is the worst experience I have ever had with any product. As a Technical Solutions Engineer I can say that this product has the worst configuration experience of any system with which I have worked. After 4 hours of trying to connect (which requires you to plug it directly into your computer to register (not included in the product packaging instructions at all) it still wouldn't connect even with using WPS or a direct ethernet connection cable plugged from the camera directly into the router. What a piece of garbage...

Don't waste your money

We live on an acreage with average internet. This product took hours to set up and ended with more than one call to support which was no help. I ended up getting it working through trial and error. Once it was working I wanted to configure the settings on a pc only to find out they were trying to fix a problem with windows and the different browsers. So I waited until the fix was done and I'm trying to connect. Still can't. So I'm stuck with a camera that I can see the picture on my phone but I can't set up any schedules or anything. Overall my experience has been horrible. I think if I disconnect the camera and smash it to pieces with a giant hammer it will be well worth I paid for this piece of crap. It gets one star because there is no lower rating.

This is a glorified baby monitor..

You can only view the camera on-line, there is no way to remotely record the footage. Recording is done by a micoSD card in the camera. So if someone takes the SD card or the camera you will never know who. You think D-Link would offer some kind of subscription service for recording.. I’m really disappointed.. but my fault for assuming..

Good picture, frustrating to change settings, not user friendly

This took me 3 hours to connect up to my wifi. Instructions do not tell you you have to set up via ethernet cable then go online to mydlinks.com, sign in, pick your camera and settings and enable the wireless setting. It kept dropping the wifi until I went into wirekess setting and checked extender and pointed the antenna towards my modem. All my other wireless items I can use outside no problem. I do not understand why a wireless camera would not come with wireless enabled. I then put in the Sd card, well it would not work. Looking online again at tht FAQ, well I now have to enable it as well, but when i go onto mydlinks.com and sign in it does not show my camera. I tried their on line chat...told me to change my browser and signed off. More investigation found out i could access using my cameras IP address, which leads to a site that is not secure. Well I finally was on and enabled the Sd card. I am now totally frustrated, good thing the picture quality is good. This is sold showing SD Card slot fir local recording so why wasnt this feature enabled as well I now have to figure out how to change the password

Its not good

The notification seems to work ramdomly and all you get is a popup on your phone and that popup doesnt seem to respect notification sound volume so unless you happen to be looking at your phone the camera is useless.

Would not connect or hold connection

Spent several hours trying to get this thing connected. Very buggy, would connect after many attempts, then lose it's connection making you have to start all over again. My home wifi is strong, I even have a high end extender. All my devices connect even my smart tv at the other end of the house which sits right below where I wanted this camera positioned. Either bad wifi antenna or defective. Very frustrating. Will be returning for a different product/brand.

GREAT NANNY CAMERA!!!!

I bought this to keep an eye on my children who were constantly eating food and shoving wrappers in or under the couch & sofa. Both kids blamed each other. This camera has a recording feature with a MICRO SD card slot. It's time and date stamped. Also automatically adjusts for NIGHT VISION. I was able to catch the culprit so it works well for kids. You can also turn on your DATA and check on them while out doing groceries etc. Very easy set-up....matter of minutes!
