Overheats

I got this and returned the following day due to the gpu overheating and forcing shutdown after 30 seconds of fallout new vegas, pretty sure I got a lemon. The display is awful and had the worst light bleed I have seen. Very disappointing overall.

Well

After my laptop died in 8 months, I had to get a new laptop. After paying extra I got this laptop. Pretty descent laptop.

Not bad, a few bugs

It preforms decently well when playing games and can do all day to day tasks with out issue. The keyboard feels a bit cheap and the screen is a bit dark even on full brightness. However I have encountered a few issues that lead to me trading it in. From the moment I took it out of the box there were audio bugs (audio was either very distorted or had heavy static) These bugs weren't just present when running games or programs that require a lot of resources. The occurred while on skype, while watching youtube. The first instance of these problems was during initial start up with cortana. there were also a few other bugs where I would launch a game and the screen would go black until I closed the lid and then opened it again, and then the game would continue. Now I know this sounds pretty bad, but I traded it in for another unit of the same model, which I'm using now and it is problem free. It's possible the first one I got was just the one random defective unit that managed to slip through quality checks. Its possible it's not and the is a common problem with this model.

Screen and keyboard

People do not understand: In order to give you a GTX1050 there has to be sacrifices. IPS panels and back lit keyboards will make this price a lot higher.

Overall great performance for gaming

I took this back as I need a computer for video editing, the display card is not compatible with Pinnacle edit software so could not use that part of the program rendering for editing.I will purchase a faster CPU as this is what's needed for fast rendering. My daughter loaded a few games and verified the laptop can run the more power thirsty games with ease. The USB ports on the right, mid placement are a challenge as I am right handed and having stuff plugged into the ports impedes mouse usage. Overall the system is very well built and the cooling configuration worked well though this unit is not really a "laptop" as it is big and clunky and the airflow stream does heat up underneath. The keyboard buttons are a little weird and I was always mistyping things as the buttons are softer touch and feel a bit cheap or like they are going to break if I put too much pressure. Looks great and Bestbuy sometimes offers open box units for 799 which I believe is an amazing price for this unit.

Nothing sacrificed

In terms of power and graphics this laptop sacrifices nothing despite it's low price in comparison to most gaming laptops. It's battery power is stellar, and while it is lacking a backlit keyboard as well as a fancy screen, these components are far from necessary to enjoy the laptop to it's fullest. All in all, I highly recommend this laptop for gamers looking to save money without having to sacrifice power.

two major downsides?

I got this laptop about two weeks ago. There are two major negative thing about this laptop: (1) the screen is not IPS (2) The keyboard is English-French and not backlit. I have connected the laptop to an 27" IPS monitor and I used a wireless backlit gaming keyboard. The thermal cooling of this laptop is good, but you may need to use it as a desktop.

Really enjoy my expierence

Sure the screen is a bit on the bad side but it can handle any task that you throw at it and run most games at medium settings at a solid 60 fps

Hardware is great

I've had this about 2 weeks now and have used it every day, including some moderate gaming. Hardware has not given me any issues whatever - my only complaint is the OS.

Amazing

This laptop can run any game at 60 fps with MAXIMUM settings, with lower end settings around the 100 to 300 mark. The quality of the screen is amazing, and overall is to.

Powerful laptop for a budget gaming laptop

Bought it for programming and gaming. Handle every tasks easily. Gaming is smooth on any game. It has a free slot for an M2SSD (smaller version) but I replaced the HDD with an SSD and now the laptop is 100% QUIET when NOT gaming (which it was already not noisy with the hard drive). You cant go wrong with this laptop and for this price, its a bargain. Yes the screen is not an IPS screen, but that doesn't matter since I sit in FRONT of the screen and not on the sides of it. Also, its not that thick (only 1 inch), doesn't look like a gaming laptop and thats what I like about it.
