Good value

Just bought mine on sale. For this price you can't do better. The only thing I had to adjust was the string height, and you usually have to do that with any guitar to suit your playing style. Intonation was spot on out of the box. Fit and finish is perfect. No sharp fret edges. I have been playing for over 50 years and just bought this because it was on sale and the quality surprised me.

Since my original review I have been playing the guitar more and I am not really impressed. I have had to buy new volume and tone knobs are the original ones cracked up through the middle. The rhythm and treble switch seems to be loosing up.Also find the guitar doesn't stay in tune for long. Would suggest spending a little more on another guitar.

Another great Epiphone!

I now have four Epiphones - all of them are well-made, play well and sound different. I bought the Les Paul to take advantage of the twin humbuckers and the more raunchy output. My Casino produces smooth mellow tones, my EJ provides the typical folk sounds you would expect from an acoustic-electric. I also have a 12 string DR212 and my only disappointment with that guitar is that it did not have a built-in pickup. The Les Paul is a much smaller guitar than the others, making it easier to transport although it is relatively heavy. I was amazed at the quality of the finish for the price. It has a 12" neck compared to the stratocaster's 9½" neck. which is easier for beginners and those with more stubby fingers. It does, however, make bar chords somewhat more difficult than the strat. I am delighted with this purchase and am looking forward to hours of fun.

Awesome Guitar

Anyone looking for a Les Paul at a great price need look no further. Right out of the box I was thoroughly impressed. First thing I did was check the setup and found everything to be bang on. Usually when I get a guitar I need to adjust the truss rod in order to get the action low and fret buzz free - not with this one. In fact I couldn't believe that they got the action that low with no fret buzz at all. String height and intonation were right on the money as well. Basically all I had to do was give the neck a good wipe, tune it up and start playing. If you are used to a strat, you might find this guitar a wee bit on the heavy side. I'm not crazy about the strings it came with and will likely change them to a set of Super Slinky's. Pickups appear to be your basic Humbuckers which respond quite decently. At the end of the day, I don't think you can go wrong for the price.

Not Liking It

Ordered this one as a replacement for the first I had sent, which was damaged and basically not playable in my mind. I am not impressed with this one either. For a guitar that is supposed to be playable out of the box, and inspected by Gibson USA, it is far from it. 1st thing I noticed was the fret buzz as soon as I tried to play it, and I have yet to get this guitar in tune by ear or with an electronic tuner. I have tried stretching the strings to break them in, but I am at a loss as to what to do next.
