App no longer available on iTunes ( go ahead and check ) - so it renders the camera useless. There is no way to control or adjust settings etc. with out the app. You can't even line up the video. Contacted for support and they have no answer or endeavour in creating a solution to rectify this issue is what they told me. DO NOT BUY

I Bought this camera very basic and when connected to the camera your other functions in your phone don't work. You might as well buy a hunk of plastic from a bubblegum machine! after returning the third camera all due to the camera frying in my window and then dying, Best Buy finally gave me a store credit. If you are going to buy one of these cameras then make sure you get the extended warranty ... you are going to need it!! If there was a way that I could give zero stars I would.

Decent unit, but, really aweful quirks

This little device has all the bells and whistles of communications, but, uses them all extremely poorly. The short of it; - A single purpose, physical Bluetooth button included that connects to the camera and tells the camera to take a 10-20 second video, but, does not allow your phone to connect to it via BT. - WiFi with a range of only about 10 feet. (Can see my cars speedo from my kitchen window, but, my phone barely see the WiFi on the camera) - Video quality is great when looking at it on your phone. The long of it; Their (Geko/Gecko/whatever) website indicates a 20 second video capture. Their single page manual indicates 12 seconds. Conflicting information is present to whether the capture is half the time in the past up until half the time in the future, or if its 12 or 20 seconds from the moment you press the included single purpose Bluetooth button. The other thing about that button is that it can take 5 seconds to actually sync with the camera... so... yeah... Plan ahead when you want to use that button. The Micro SD card can be removed from the camera relatively easily, and the videos can be transferred to your PC, apparently. Its indicated in the documentation that before removal of the SD card, the device should be powered off. However, when I push and hold the button to power on the camera, it shuts down, but then 3 seconds after it powers down, it powers itself back on again. There is no method to connect your PC to the camera via WiFi. You can establish communications and get an IP from the cameras DHCP server, but, doing anything beyond that is a bust. Although you can connect to the camera via WiFi, there is exactly zero software that actually talks to the device to control it. Why is that a concern? Well, I'm not really interested in using a 5" cell phone screen to edit a reportedly 1080p video over a wireless connection managing 3 minute videos while I'm sitting in my car. Although the date and time are baked into the video feed, your GPS information is not. The moment you go to edit that video, the GPS information is lost, as per documentation. I won't recommend this to anyone. I'll be taking it down and bringing it back to Best Buy after a week of ownership. The money I paid will go into a different camera.

Flawed design

I purchased this dashcam and returned it a day later after learning of several flaws that made it unusable. 1. The settings are very limited, and you cannot configure to have GPS location or speed shown on the recording. The GPS information is encoded into the AVI file, and I was unable to find a software to extract it. Therefore, you have no proof where a recorded incident took place. The GPS location is only accessible through the app. 2. The app connects through wifi. Therefore your phone will try to get data through the dashcam when connected. So when you try to bring up the google map information in the app....the phone has no data it does not work. I'm sure you could reconfigure your phone to get data via the LTE network while connected to wifi...but that is at risk of running up your data bill by accident when using other apps. 3. I found streaming recorded video through the app hit and miss. sometimes it works, sometimes it reports errors. 4. You have a side to side swivel of only 15 degrees. 5. Again, the limited settings. You can set record resolution, g-sensor sensitivity, password, and record time after turning car off...that's it. You cannot set the record time per file, you cannot set what information is shown on the recorded file, you cannot set sounds (whether to beep or not) default it beeps loudly everytime you start up....very annoying. 6. Mounting on the windshield of a Honda Civic, the fisheye effect it so strong that you can see the speed gauge on the car. I did not have this problem with my previous dashcam. It makes objects in front of the car look more distant than other dash cams. The small form factor is great..but the product needs much refinement to compete with other dashcams on the market.

Geko Xpedition Dashcam just scorched and died within 24 hrs of install! Going for a refund!

0 Star if I could! Bought this dash cam on the recommendation from a Best Buy sales rep. In 24 hrs, the unit burned and died! First there was a scorch burning smell, then saw a spark and smoke! The unit was way too hot to even touch! Worse thing is to remove the windshield holder which is attached to the windshield by a 3m adhesive! Never will I buy a dash cam from this manufacturer again!

Probably the Best of the best choice of simple to use Dash Cams

So before I get into the review, this dash cam has no motion detection parking hard wired kit mode. However as a dash cam for recording proofs for accidents it is probably the smallest dash cams out on the market, plus the fact it has a built in gps and wi-fi access which you need to center the cam when mounting since it has no screen itself. When mounted properly, you can pull the dash cam from the mounting bracket easily to hide it from thieves or just to take it with you. With its internal battery, you can power it on without the plug to access the video files within the sd-card through the wifi connection. It also comes with a bluetooth remote button that can be mounted anywhere so when you press the button, it will record a 20 second video with snapshot of whatever is occurring in front of your car. This will be saved in the events folder so it doesn't get overwritten when your micro sd card recycles. I actually bought this device twice. Once before christmas of which I returned it thinking it was too much work to install. The second time after watching a video of someone installing this device so I decided to give it a try once again. Second time the charm of which I found the usb cable was just long enough to wrap around the front dashboard, under the steering wheel and pass the middle car hump to reach the plug beside my hand brake. Now that it has been installed, I really recommend it highly to everyone looking for an easy to use dash cam.

Great 1080p wide angle Dashcam

This dashcam is tiny, wifi access from smartphone. Compared many at this price point and took a gamble on this new unreviewed model. Footage posted by BCHobbyist on YouTube looks very clear and crisp. Pros: - excellent 1080p video, tiny, 125 degree wide angle lens, great night vision, bonus 16GB microSD (max 32GB), 20min battery for parking feature, GPS, G-sensor, no voice msgs, App converts microSD card AVI to MP4 + GPS file, 3M adhesive pads (2). Cons: (more of a wishlist) - App needs update to fix password glitch, gets warm from wifi video downloads, cannot adjust video resolution or brightness, no PC/MAC software viewer, large lens housing ring prevents using other dashcam CPL polarizing filters, originally advertised as 155 degree wide angle. Conclusion: works well as a 1080p dashcam, great value on sale, look forward to App & firmware updates. Once setup you can forget about it until needed.

Do yourself the favor. Don't buy this

a waste of time and money with no support from best buy or Geko... Real smart best buy with your review system not letting true reviews being posted.

I can't believe Best buy buyer would even buy such a piece of junk

Can't edit video other then on their app. No editing software other then what GEKO app if you can even download that app on your phone. I have an |Iphone and Ipad and it won't let me. I would consider myself Tecky. I have 3 go pro's 1 drone. Edit videos with Sony vegas and premier cut pro. This thing is pure garbage! Who ever the buyer at best buy bought into this needs to get fired. They barely have a website.

Would not connect to app (Android)

The dashcam itself seems well made, is very small and compact and good packaging. The size and apparent functionality would seem to make it my ideal dash cam. The major issue is that it wouldn't connect to the app or work with the app. On first attempt, it connected to the app but wouldn't work beyond that. I couldn't change any settings or control the camera in any way, only getting an error message. I tried updating firmware, re-installing app, and on subsequent attempts it wouldn't even connect anymore at all. Despite having a 'power' button on the side of the camera, it seems to always be on and recording as long as it's plugged in (which in most cars would be whenever the car is on). Presumably you could alter this through the app but was never able to work. (I knew the camera had been recording from when I checked the memory card.) The camera itself gets very hot within only around 5-10 minutes of use, especially around the memory card slot. The booklet mentioned this and claimed it was normal, but it's still a bit unsettling that it gets that hot/warm and isn't considered a design flaw. Ultimately I had to return it since I could never get it to work with the app. Tried with Nexus 5X and LG G5 (both running Android 7.0/7.1). Still don't know if the issue was the app or the camera.

love it

I just bought this for my fiance and he loves it. He's a social media junkie, so he was looking for a device that would let him post cool videos of the road instantly. The set up was easy and seems to be very straight forward. He especially loves that he can edit and add all kinds of music to his videos on the Xpedition app before he posts them.
