Whether you're recording extreme adventures or simply lifelogging, the HERO Session delivers GoPro performance in a convenient grab-and-go camera. It has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth so you can control, view, and share your content from your smartphone.

More Information

Professional video and stills

  • The HERO Session delivers minimally compressed H.264 encoded video, capturing 1440p30, 1080p60, and 720p100 formats. So whether you're barreling down a mountain on your snowboard, surfing off the coast, or just recording your European vacation, you've got the flexibility to capture high-definition video anywhere.
  • The 8MP image sensor takes high-quality still images, perfect for taking selfies or group photos. Plus the HERO Session has a 10fps burst mode and a time lapse mode that takes photos at set intervals between 0.5 to 60 seconds. Burst mode lets you easily capture your friend's first successful dyno at the bouldering gym, and the time lapse mode is great for gear-mounted photos when you can't reach the shutter button.
  • With the HERO Session's 16mm ultra-wide focal length you can capture stunning wide-angle shots with an expansive field of view. So you'll know that photo of you standing on the Giza Plateau includes you, the Sphinx, and the Great Pyramids in one shot.

Compact, light, and ready for action

  • The HERO Session has the grab-and-go convenience of an everyday camera and weighs in at only 74g (2.6 oz.). It's the ideal camera to document all of your extreme or daily adventures because it won't add any significant weight to your gear. Or use it as a second camera and capture a different perspective.
  • The HERO Session is designed to hold up to extreme environments and conditions. The camera is waterproof to 10m without any housing. It comes with a standard frame, curved adhesive mount, and flat adhesive mount, so you can easily attach it to a helmet, handlebar, or watercraft.
  • There's nothing worse than running out of storage space or battery life when you're filming or photographing. Thankfully, the HERO Session has an expandable external memory card slot that supports Class 10 or UHS-I microSD cards up to 64GB.
  • The built-in battery delivers up to 2 hours of record time. So you can easily capture all of the mayhem of your first scavenger hunt in high-definition. Intelligent Battery Efficiency technology optimizes battery life, only using power when the camera is recording and shutting it off when it's not.

Controlled and connected

  • A simple press of the shutter button turns on the camera and begins capturing video or photos automatically. So, you don't have to wonder if you missed your friend executing a roll in her whitewater kayak. Plus, the simple one-button operation makes it the perfect camera for first-time GoPro users.
  • Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth let you connect your HERO Session to your smart device through the GoPro App or Smart Remote2. The apps give you easy access to all camera modes and settings, let you control the camera remotely, and make it a snap to view and share your content.

Rating of GoPro

After my experience I would never buy again, would never recommend one, I have gone through 2 in the last month now and after setting the camera up and connecting it to my phone via bluetooth, I am losing wifi connection constantly, causing all video recordings to be deleted and not saved. I am thorougly unimpressed I am coming in for a refund in the next few days.

Fun to have

Great tool for adventures and hikes, water proof works well, and quality is good. Tho taking pictures with the mono stick can be troublesome, impossible to click the botton 3 feet away, only way is too connect to cell a phone via Bluetooth and wifi. Connecting to timelap mode through GoPro is confusing, but again using the cell phone helps a lot. Does overheat on the lends pretty quick, does not seem to have any problems with that at least.

Great camera and great price!

I use the camera on my road bike, image is fantastic and crisp. I mounted it using go-pros handle bar mount and even on gravel roads still a great picture. Battery life is excellent to, I've had 2hours of video at 1440 and 30 fps.(remember to switch wifi off to get the longer battery life) I can't wait to try it when the skiing season is here!

Overheats so easily, battery barely lasts 1h, image stabilization is terrible, jittery, rough video, and even on 60fps it was disappointing quality for 1080.

Got this camera and played with it for a day. Disappointed. The idea is good, but its implementation is still far away from being acceptable, at least for my activities (alpine climbing): 1. Can't count on that the camera will start shooting after pressing the button - sometimes it will either have huge delay or will ignore the button press entirely. Missed two critical episodes because of that. 2. Battery life is too short and is not replaceable. 3. GoPro Studio froze right after importing one single GoPro footage. The only thing that I liked about it was the image quality (amazingly crisp and sharp), too bad the rest is in so much mess. Will return.

Do not buy

I was really excited to use this camera. I took a video right away and through it up on my Sony TV. I had to go back to the camera settings to make sure it was not set to 480 p because the video quality was just awful. The camera was set to 1080. I took a side by side with the gopro at 1080 and my ipad mini 2 at 720. I put them side by side and myself and my friends had a really hard time telling the difference. My girlfriend even said the ipad was better! I agree. So , take it back and get the 4k one? Not after using the app! Why do I need to register to use the app that controls my camera? Why do I need to AUTHENTICATE to the app before using it? You need to change your wifi to connect to the caemera, but you can't authenticate to the app WITHOUT WIFI. Wow. What a pain. Don't forget your password for the app because gopro locks you out after 3 failed attempts and good luck getting the account unlocked. I've been waiting since Friday night and it's now Monday morning. Do not buy GoPro. You will be very disappointed.

The app is crap you need to register to use the app that controls the camera and it's just garbage. Spent the better part of an hour trying to log into app after GoPro decided to reset my password. Ended up wiping my ssd card in frustration. Do not buy. The camera is ok but you have zero control without the app. Why do I need to register to use the app? Garbage.

Go Pro

Received from my parents at Christmas and was quite shocked. I have wanted one for snowboarding and didn't think I could afford one. They overheard a conversation I was having and that's where they got the idea. Delivery was excellent Set up quite easy Took it snowboarding and had no problems recording or getting sound Would recommend this product

Failed miserably

This unit failed during video capture, it did capture photos when set to once every 5 seconds. During my motorcycle trip, I was attempting to capture video of my journey on a very curvy road, and the unit locked up, not once but twice and my video capture was lost. I checked the firmware as suggested (it was the latest). I used a 32GB SD Card with 90MB/s READ, 45MB/s WRITE capabilities, well beyond the UHS-1 recommendation for this camera. Even when testing in my hotel room, with the unit fully charged, just sitting on the desk, the unit got hot to the touch, failed to capture the video and locked up such that I could not get to the menu or options until I had completely reset the unit. There was no video capture at all. I would not recommend this product. Perhaps wait for the next generation or until they have worked the bugs out. As it stands now, the unit I received was not reliable and failed miserably at the worst time possible.

Good little cam! Happy with it for the price....

Great little ride a long.

I am a model railroader and have used several small cameras to do cab rides of my layout and others. Most cameras wi-fi did not always work well or the size resulted in less than great optics. The Session rides very nicely on a flat car and fits through bridges and tunnels. I found I didn't need to secure it to the flat car. The battery and micro SD card make the recording seamless. The quality of video and sound leaves little to be desired. This is a great buy for this kind of application.

Don't hesitate to buy

I've used other gopro's that are the large rectangles. Never been a fan of the form factor. I use them only for motocross and street sportbikes so the bigger ones with their orientation make a lot of wind drag when mounted to the helmet or snag branches on the mx. This camera's form factor is AWESOME. Small, light, couldn't possibly be LESS in the way. Had it for a few weeks now. On top of the helmet, side of helmet, top of gas tank, on swingarm, on front fender, on side fairings, etc. Just perfect. I especially like how easy it is to fit in your pocket if you stop off at a store and don't want to leave it on the bike. Never skips a beat. Used it for 2 full hours one day without turning off and battery read approx 25% left. Video stabilization is quite phenomenal even on "buzzy" race bikes and hard suspension. Smooth video with minimal "jelloing". Decent color saturation, Display is easy to read, features and software work flawlessly, blinking led is easy to see (if you can't remember if it's recording or not). Main button is easy to use even with leather gloves. I wish the menu button on the back was bigger, can't get at that one with gloves on. I was leery initially of the mounting cage. My worries are completely assuaged. Cage holds the cam secure and is nearly impossible to accidentally unbuckle. Strong but flexible when it get's whacked, easy to operate and leaves access to all buttons and usb/sd card when mounted. Don't hesitate to buy one. It's worth every penny, works perfectly, gives great video, is not in the way, is waterproof as is, and this thing take a beating. :)
