This is probably the slowest laptop that I have ever worked with. I bought it on sale and still ended up returning it only three days after the purchase. It took 5 minutes to open WORD, took 10 to open CHROME and another 5 to SHUTDOWN.

Super slow!

This computer is suuuuuper slow. Its getting worse and worse as time goes by (7 months) and I barely have used it. It often delays while I'm typing so I'm not sure if it registered that I typed at all and then it only displays part of the words I've typed so I backspace and then the rest of the words come unexpectedly... so horrible. Also, the touchpad buttons are so LOUD! And the touchpad is not very sensitive and does not register my finger quite often.

Absolute garbage

Bought this thing 6 months ago....motherboard crapped out...zero help from bestbuy...spent 45 minutes on the phone... It's now on its way to India!! Who knows when I'm ever going to see this thing again.... I am now using my 10 year old shop computer that I drove my truck over ...but at least it works! Don't go to Best Buy Don't buy hp Sincerely

No issues!

I've had this for a couple of weeks now and didn't have any issues at all.

If you have patience buy this one its progressively very slow as time goes by.

Don't buy

I bought this laptop on black Friday. So I've had it for 5 whole months and it is starting to crap out on me. The wifi adapter constantly turns on and off, the touch screen works only half the time, the overall computer is slow even right after I've restarted. I'm now using my 10 year old laptop in its place while I discover how to return it and get a different brand. Waste of time

Everything is nice except the dumb looking keyboard

The up and down keys are too small and uncomfortable press. What brain dead moron thought to downsize some of the most commonly used keys on the keyboard?

Bought it today, will be returning it tomorrow

Was extremely slow right out of the box. Spent 2hrs removing bloatware and trying to configure it properly. Had issues connecting to my WiFi right out of the box using the HP setup. Had to manually connect to my WiFi then to reliaze its a single band WiFi connection and DOES NOT support 5ghz connections. WiFi was extremely slow due to its poor signal even though I was 5ft away from my router. Trackpad and buttons feel really cheap, speakers and located under the laptop and were not loud at all. Returning this tomorrow, don't want to deal with it today. Its a budget laptop with a decent CPU and Memory, but its not going to cut it for what I want it to do. Wouldn't recommend this laptop.

Lots of problems in 4 days

It did not work installing the updates on the second day, The HP support reinstalled one program. Since, then, I have a problem working, specially with File explorer. I cannot minimize or adjust window size. Can get only one window at the time. Top right hand corner controls do not work on most screens. Have not been able to get in touch with HP yet for this problem

Don't buy it

Worst part is the WiFi is really crappy, I know what I am talking about I am in IT. HP support has been terrible as well. Touchpad is bad too.

  • from Laval, QC

Went through the steps to set it up, first reboot took 15 min and got stuck somewhere, second reboot 5 minutes. don't waste your time with this. Either it came from the factory like this or HP makes garbage.

Not too bad, but important keys are tiny

Bought this laptop last month. Overall pretty satisfied as it does what you would expect, and is pretty speedy. A pet peeve are the Home, Delete, End, Backspace keys are embedded among other keys and hard to see/find. These are among the most used keys and should've been larger.

Good for the money

It's a good deal for what you are paying. I would have thought that it would be a bit quicker than it is, but I'm used to running a quad core. Over all it's a good buy in my opinion.

Should be in clearance section

Old technology. Wireless N max which is well on its way out. Wireless AC is the newest, and on anything worth money today. Low definition screen, or old 720p which technically is HD, only old HD when it was first popular some 15+ years ago. Now the second number should always be above 1080p, and be warned that some sellers try to fool you by changing the 2 numbers around and will report it as 720x1200 for instance. To be safe both numbers should always be above 1080p. Also the Pixels Per Inch (PPI) are very important, the higher the number the better. This HP laptop does not report the PPI so it is probably terrible, but research the HP site for the answer. In modern day a ppi of over 300 is good, 400+ is excellent. Finally, the harddrive, even though it is a Tb drive, the rounds per minute (RPM) are only 5400. That's the slowest for HDD drives. You want 7200rpms for the fastest possible read/write times to HDD. Better yet get a laptop with the SDD drive, super fast, unfortunately still very steep in price. The CPU in this isn't bad at all, but unfortunately a CPU does not a good computer make.

bad batteries

Great laptop except for one MAJOR problem--the battery. This laptop needs to be plugged in to a power outlet at all times.

  • from Ottawa, ON

Good deal if you get on sale .Slow at times, but the i3 is better than the AMD on my old HP .Disconnect or disable unused stuff as it constantly wants to upgrade and override.. Win 10 also takes time to get used to..I used a wireless mouse ,so i don't have the mouse issues..Good enough for a entry level laptop.

Very good HP Touchscreen Laptop (Intel Core i3)

This is my first laptop and I am very happy with it. I specifically wanted the touch screen option which I am happy with. For those who prefer a different keyboard (which I like) they can always attach their old key board. You can also use your mouse if you prefer and I like it because I use both (touch screen and mouse). I do prefer this laptop as it has the Intel Core processor. The speed is very good. The only thing I would have liked was the CD included but I can live without it. Overall, a very nice laptop. I would highly recommend it!!!

Battery life

An excellent choice for those looking for an inexpensive, yet reliable laptop. It can run several programs at once smoothly, and is a solid buy for anybody looking to use this for work/play (The Touch screen is a nice addition) ! The only downside i can think of is that the battery life is not as good as it could be....The battery drains too fast and having to re plug it over and over again over several hours can be a nuisance... Overall a nice buy! P.S.....I also recommend buying a wireless mouse as the pad on this laptop is not that great :(

fast as jetplan

  • from Toronto, ON

Not bad except for mouse pad

Not a bad laptop all in all, the only thing I don't like is the mouse pad and the Right/Left buttons. Sometimes I have to click several times for them to work or respond. Feels a bit cheap quality hardware.

Received this laptop DOA

This laptop came in Dead on Arrival. It powered up but there was no screen image, just a faint flicker. Did some trouble shooting and this problem has something to do with a loose or malfunctioning memory module. Shipped it back.

  • from Castlegar, BC

Arrived DOA

This laptop arrived Dead On Arrival with the unit powering up, but no screen display, just a faint flicker. Returned it the next day.

Not bad

I was reading the reviews and I am confused as to whether I should buy this laptop or not.

Battery Life

I'm not sure about anyone else...there have been no mention of battery at all in these reviews. But i'm curious to know if anyone is having any difficulty with battery life. I had to plug in the laptop twice in one day....charge does not seem to hold for more than a couple of hours. I also find the laptop itself rather slow.

  • from Hamilton

Don't buy

So slow right out of the box. Takes 10 mins or more to load any program after a restart. Any other time the blue pinwheel turns and turns then a program will load after 5 or so mins. My 5 year old laptop works faster than this brand new one. Now I get to head back and return this. Thanks HP for wasting my time

Decent for the price

Buying and shipping was simple. Got it on sale on Black Friday - yay. Easy enough to set up and operate. I just wanted something for photo editing and storage mostly with some web surfing and video messaging. All of which are easily done with this machine. BUT It feels cheap. The laptop as a whole as well as the keyboard and mouse. It almost feels like it's hollow inside. The keyboard does not have a back light. It doesn't have a CD drive which was a minor drawback if I wanted to let the kids watch a movie while traveling. It's a good thing Netflix allows offline viewing! Overall, I do like using this laptop but I wish I had known about the backlight and cheapy feel prior to buying. Now ya know.

  • from Toronto, ON

Easy to set up

Very happy with this laptop. Got it for a group I work with. Just wanted something with a good size memory and easy to use. The price was excellent.

HP Laptop

Bought after having a bad experience with another one of hp's products, it was a similar notebook and was the exact same price but has no touchscreen,i ended up returning it because it was constantly dropping the internet signal and when I did have internet it was very slow. It had an AMD6 processor. What have learned from this is that I will never have an AMD powered computer again!!! Even the most basic intel processor the i3 that this computer has is so much better, loading is super fast and downloading is quick, the 8gb of ram and 1tb of storage are are added bonuses, meaning ill never have to upgrade them. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a fast and efficient laptop.

Had it for 1 year, starting to fail

I purchased this laptop in 2015, during the Black Friday sale. When I first got it, I would have easily rated it 5/5. As with all new computers, everything runs smoothly and seamlessly on first startup. I also loved the touchscreen function. Although I don't use it often, I thought it was pretty badass having that option. I purchased this computer solely for leisure and basic office work, which includes surfing the internet, watching movies/TV shows, Microsoft Office, and basic programming (SQL, Visual Studio, Java). It gets the job done for these, so I've rated it 2 stars to be generous rather than 1. However, having owned this laptop for just a bit over a year now, the hardware on this computer is starting to greatly disappoint. I take care of my computers. As a computer scientist currently in the field of business IT with a hobby in building gaming rigs, I'd like to think I know my way around a computer. Just a bit over a year now, my speakers on this HP laptop have blown. I'm a bit OCD, I never have my volume over 50-60%. Having it suddenly blow on me was extremely surprising. And has never happened to me in the previous 6 laptops I have owned. As well, I typically use headphones when watching shows anyway. Secondly, my battery level indicator is constantly stuck at 99%, even when unplugged. Because of this, my laptop would automatically shutdown without warning on battery power. Again, I take care of my computers. When connected to a plug, I normally remove the battery because I know it can be damaging to the battery. Despite doing this almost religiously, the battery is starting to fail me anyway. These problems are disappointing because this is the first HP laptop I have owned and these problems have never occurred across the widespan of laptops I have owned in the past. Increasing this frustration is that these problems began to occur as soon as my 1 year warranty expired. Sorry for the long review, but I think it's important to hear from an owner who has owned this laptop for over a year now, rather than going by the reviews of people who have only just purchased this laptop. The positive thing is that this is a lesson learned for me. In the future, I will definitely be spending a little more for a better laptop, and I will be extremely hard pressed to purchase another HP laptop.

A very good laptop!

This is a solid laptop that does everything I've asked if it quickly and seamlessly. The display quality is good, I find I can use the keyboard quite easily. This laptop is lightweight and sleek. I got it on Black Friday on sale, and have been very happy with it, as well as with Best Buy - who had it to me very quickly and efficiently!! I am glad I bought this laptop.

HP 15.6" Touchscreen Laptop

Just purchased this computer so have not had a chance to really use it but the thing I do love is the touch screen and the number pad.

  • from Mississauga, ON

Solid laptop

Bought this for a child for homework and Netflix, primarily, and it's handled that very easily. Simple games run well, though haven't tried any really CPU/GPU intensive tasks. It's quite light, the plastic feels like it might be kind of fragile, but no issues thus far. Very portable. Touchscreen is responsive and a nice feature.

My HP Touchscreen Laptop 15.6"

I find this laptop excellent in every way. I am very pleased with the hd screen, the graphics and the touchscreen are exceptional. From the time you turn it on seems only seconds that you are into any program you desire. I would recommend this laptop to anyone as I am completely satisfied with my purchase.
