I bought the machine about 3 months ago. I haven't printed or copied 100 pages and the machine will jam in the paper tray and the feeder on top. I've had two HP 8610's that were nearly flawless for years. This machine pales in comparison and is headed back to be returned today. DO NOT BUY!!! (I would give zero stars but I can't post review without giving at least a one star rating.) *eye roll*

Why does Best Buy give this a 4.6 rating?

not worth it, spend a lil more and get some reliable.

Terrible Printer

We got this printer and it worked great...until it didn't. We had to have it replaced TWICE for it just breaking down for no reason. Spent hours with HP on the phone and they had no idea why it was broken but just sent us a new one, which, again, worked great for a month or two....until it broke again. Avoid the hassle, don't buy this printer.

This printer is garbage! It was working fine until about 8 months into owning it, I was informed that the ink cartridges were empty. Which was surprising, considering I only printed about 5 pages. When I went to Best Buy to get more ink, the employee told me that ink dries up if you don't use it every 2 weeks. This information would have been helpful when I bought the printer. Once I replaced all the ink, it wasn't printing at all and after I called customer service they informed me that the print head was not working, and agreed to send me a replacement. The replacement printer I just received also DOES NOT WORK and now I have to send two crappy printers back. NOT WORTH THE HASSLE.

Not loving it

I bought this printer a little over a year ago and it just suffered a catastrophic failure. The ink cartridges no longer move therefore I can no longer print. I would not recommend this printer.

  • from Windsor, ON

Good while it lasts

Got a good year and a half out of it until a fatal print head error. That's it- done. Considering this unit costs as much as an ink refill, I guess you get what you pay for.

  • from Vancouver, BC

Broke down

After a year and three months, printer gave us an error message like another reviewer 0x6100004a. Troubleshooting did not help so I think this printer is garbage now. We didn't even use the printer for 5 of the 15 months we owned it. Very disappointing.

  • from Sault Ste Marie, ON

planned obsolescence

The printer has stopped working due to Printer Failure 0x6100004a after 1 year and 2 months (2 months past the warranty period). Troubleshooting options on HP website were unsuccessful.

Good for the first 12 month

I bought this printer 12 months ago, it was cheap to buy and worked very well. I was very happy with it. The ink was expensive. Lately, I have some issues with the printer and it is not printing at all and I could not find a way to fix it. As soon as I turn on the printer I receive a message of a paper jam, given that the printer is clean. I also get a message that the printer was not shut down properly. After all of that, I get a message saying printer failure and gives me an error code. I googled the code and tried to find out what is it about, it turned out to be there is a problem with the ink and print head. These problems can not be fixed and the printer does not print anymore. I tried to reset the printer and reinstall again, but no use. Only scanner is still working.

Paper feed stopped working

I've only had this printer a couple of months and the paper feed stopped working. I've had other HP products and never a problem but this......... UGH!!

  • from Burnaby, BC

Pretty Good Until it Stopped Working

Good quality text and colour pictures. Set up took about 30 minutes though. Ink is expensive. Printed about 80 pages monthly and the XL cartridges (extra large capacity) only lasts about 3 months. Stopped working after about a year and a half due to "print head error". Not able to clean the print head. Going to have to bring this to electronics recycling depot. Knowing all this now would I buy it again? .........NO.

3 major problems with these models

1) Expect to get only 50 pages with the ink that comes with it. 2) The printer driver was printing 2 sets of a full document if I optioned to print only specific pages. This happened the 2 times I tried it. HP probably did it on purpose to get a few extra cartridge sales. 3) Scanning software did not work with Windows 10 Ink is a lucrative business and HP has been fairly slimy trying to get people to buy more ink.

Where do my pics go?

I've had the printer almost a month but have only printed pictures via the doc feeder once. Was disappointed to learn I had to almost break the sheet feeder in order to retrieve mu original picture prints. If anyone has this model and has found a way to get the prints back, please let me know. Thanks, Terry

Not Recommended

I have had this printer for over a year. I have had to re-install it about 10 times because it is always offline or my computer cannot find the printer. I have to run the "fix" software almost every time I use it. I have had HP before without any issues, but this one is junk. I will try a different model one more time before I buy another brand.

  • from Kanata, ON

It worked for one day and then had constant problems after that. HP customer support was not apple to fix the problem. Do not buy this printer!

  • from Richmond, BC

Good printer

Just got it from Black Friday sales. Very easy to install. I have connected all my devices wirelessly to it. Print and scan, perfectly. Like the idea of instant ink, but I will see if it is good or not.

  • from Regina, SK

Very disappointed with this printer. Very expensive for ink. Bought an extra large print cartridge and got maybe 25 pages. Totally unacceptable. Can't figure out how to get any support from HP. Very bad purchase wish I would have read these reviews before buying this piece of junk. Had it for about 1 year and it is going in the garbage. No more HP for me.

Good printer for occasional printing

I just got this printer after a small Epson printer and much prefer the HP. Print quality reasonable, and the scanner does a good job. The software was a bit confusing for starters but I've gotten used to it by now. Getting replacement ink can get expensive, but the HP ink refill subscription was an easy choice for me. The folks at Best Buy did a good job helping me with showing different printers and helping choose this one. Overall, after one week, I'm quite pleased with the printer and would make the purchase again.

Belle qualité et prix excellent pour le rendement, à suivre pour l'utilisation d'encre.

Good Printer. Expensive Ink

Bought it because it was on promo at Best Buy. Found out that the replacement ink cartridges are amazingly expensive so I ended returning the unopened package. I'm sure it is a great printer, but too expensive per page for my liking.

waste of money - after 10 mos

We're glad we had a replacement plan on the printer. Now we know why they always have these on sale. The first month or two the printer worked fine, then it got noisier and noisier. My printer did not recognize the computer and vice versa, we had to uninstall and re install. I seemed to be paying way too much for the ink. Last week [July 18/17] I needed to print something, and all we got were the colored ink, no black would print. We cleaned the heads, re aligned the paper, basically starting from scratch. I took a pic of the LCD screen showing almost full container of black [XP Size] and only 1/16th of the other three colors. Why didn't the black print. Took it back to Best Buy [found out we had to complete a replacement plan order on line] store could not help, have to wait till the shipping label arrives, then send the printer back, wait for Best Buy to receive the printer [can't drop off at store] before they send us a gift card in the mail - which could take up to 30 days. REALLY? We would NOT recommend this printer to anyone.

  • from Pemberton, B.C.

Almost perfect.

I would give it 4.5 stars but there's no half star. :D The only thing that's missing is the legal size scanning and printing.

  • from Gatineau, QC

Very hi quality

I very inprest whit this printer, it set up on my network and all my tablet and laptop are connected. All this whit no action from me.

Piece of Junk

I don't know what printer the rest of you got but it wasn't like mine. Ever since I replaced the ink cartridges, it hasn't worked consistently at all. It will just decide to not print one or more colors, including black and then the only way to get it to print again is to do a head cleaning - which uses a LOT of ink. I've spent hours on the phone with HP service. We burned through so much ink one day that they sent me 2 new color cartridges. Since then the black has stopped, then I do a clean (which eats ink from all the colors), then black came back and now is inconstant again. It's going in the garbage. Luckily it was massively on sale. Too bad for the hundred bucks I wasted on ink trying to get it to work. I had Canon printers for years and they never gave me any trouble. It's time to go back I guess.

Bought this printer on sale, the price was great! The set up took me a little bit as I'm not the greatest when it comes to technology. Once it was set up and ready to go it seemed to work great. We had a power outage a couple of days later and it messed the printer up. The set up had to be completed again but it wouldn't recognized the set up ink cartridges. So frustrating!! As I needed the printer to work that day. The printer will be returned as it will not run now without the set up ink. Is this something that will happen with this printer every time the power goes out or flickers? if it is, I will not be buying that again as that happens often where we live. Too bad as it seemed to be a good printer for the very short time it worked.

Piece of GARBAGE

This printer is the biggest bag of garbage, I now understand why it was on such a good sale. It printed fine for the first... 10 pages and after that it was paper jam after paper jam. To top it off, it is now out of ink after printing maybe 25 pages total because there was an additional 20 jammed pages. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER - shell out some additional money to get something decent.

Although I've only had this product for a couple weeks, I find it very easy to set-up and to print. I enjoy the wireless function, and not having to constantly connect and disconnect wires from my laptop. I find that the printer works relatively quickly, taking less than 2 seconds to print each page ( for A4 paper).

la meilleure imprimante que j,ai pu acheter a un prix incroyable,un Gros Merci

  • from North York

Good printer for the price

First think, when installing the printer on your computer you need to pay attention to your country location. You need to scroll down to the bottom of the page to change the country from US to Canada. If you do not do it then you could not set the country later to join the HP Instant Ink plan. I had to call support to set it up. It is slower than my previous Kodak printer but, good quality. For scanning, it scan the whole screen and not only the lettre or the picture. I need to find out how, probably need to call support to see how and why. In all, I am happy with this HP printer even my son bought one for his home.

I have had many printers. This unit is the best yet. All 5 functions work great. the Fax feature is really fast. HP make good products....

  • from Ottawa, ON

Great printer for the price

For the price of this printer when it is on sale, it is awesome. I'm not sure how they sell printers for so cheap especially ones that print as well as this one does. I've had this one since last fall and really have had very little issues with it. I have had some problems with printing from my phone but zero problems with it printing wirelessly from every other device in the house. The print quality is very good in my opinion. I have never had it jam and I do use the double sided feature. Scans very well. I've never tried the fax feature so cannot comment on that. I do have the HP instant ink feature and it works flawlessly. I receive new ink in the mail well in advance of actually requiring it so it's on hand when I really need it. Someone mentioned that they had issues signing up as they were located in Canada. I had no issues with this at all being that I'm also in Canada. For the person who said that they can't find drivers for this printer and can only find one for the 6960. To that I say, duh! This is a 6960 series printer. Anyway, great bang for the buck when on sale. You won't regret this purchase.

  • from Coaldale, AB

Great printer

The printer set up very easily and print quality is great. Very satisfied with printer. If I had to come up with a negative it would be that it is a little slow initializing the print job. All in all, a great printer

All I wanted in a printer - and more!!

I wanted a new wireless printer and saw this one on sale at Best Buy (fabulous price) and decided to give it a try. This is the first HP printer I've had and was impressed at how easy it was to set up. Hooked it into the wireless network and immediately all our Apple devices - laptops, iPads and phones were able to find and print to it. So easy. The print quality is excellent and it is quick. Haven't tried the scanner yet nor the fax (who faxes anymore - lol). If you are looking for a great printer with simple operation - I would suggest a close look at the HP JetPRo 6968.

  • from Waterdown

Great wireless printer

Bought this during boxing week, so I got it for a great price. Setup - easily done, not complicated at all. Print cartridges are simple to change. Print and scan quality is great and the speed is as expected. There is an app as well to print from your mobile phone which is convenient. No issues printing wirelessly either. My one complaint is that the printer can be setup either wireless or wired, but not both. I have an older desktop without wireless; I'll either need to give it wireless capability or plug in the ethernet when I need to print from it. Since it is not a main computer, it is only a minor inconvenience. For this one less star. Overall, very happy with the build and print quality and ease of use.

  • from Montréal, QC

the driver is so confusing. because it says 6960 and the printer that you bought is 6968. when i install it i keep searching for 6968. but you really dont need to look for that. 6960 driver is compatible with 6968. stupid HP for not adding this information. that is why people return this printer because they couldnt find the driver.. but overall this printer is so GOOD!!

We had an HP printer previously and it wasn't great but we thought it was just coming to the end of it's shelf life. We bought this printer based on the mainly positive reviews and when it arrived, and we started to set it up, initially we thought it seemed great. It connected to the internet easily but that was about it! For some reason, even though the printer's setting showed we were in Canada, when we tried to sign up for the Instant Ink, the Easy Start program thought we were in the USA and wouldn't let us download the printer software unless we input a zip code. There was no facility to let us change our country. We skipped the Instant Ink registration and tried to download the software but the program wasn't having any of it and kept pausing about 2mbs in to the download. Absolutely crap and not worth our time to persist with it especially given as others have said how easy it should be. Perhaps there's a fault with it? Anyway it's going right back and next time I think we'll try a different brand. Sorry HP - just not good enough.

  • from S.C.

I like this printer!

My son installed it, making that part of the process good. I do church bulletins, so, not having to turn the paper over and reload it is a great time saver. It prints some things really small.....bill confirmations, etc. but I guess I need to consult my manual for that. We got it for a good price, too!

  • from La Malbaie, QC

Really simple

I have installed it in a half hour!! All our phone, laptop and pc work whit it!! I even don't have to wired one of them!! All the installation and settings have been done on the screen of the printer until they ask to connect ( wireless) something, after it continues on the device you have installed!! I never have heard a sound from it!! I star all my printings in the room aside and when i enter the room the printing is done or almost finish!!! Great quality of printing too!!

  • from Sarnia

First time printer buyer

This is the first printer i ever owned, i do not regret buying this at all the set up was easy, loading the ink was easy. Not only does it print, it does everything wirelessly. I downloaded the apps to this printer in my phone and that makes everything even more easy. I thought i was just buying a printer, instead i got a printer, photocopier, fax machine, scanner all in one. I give it 10 out of 10 and i believe it was worth every penny. It has exceeded my expectations 10 fold and i dont have a business this is just for home use.

  • from Alliston, ON

Works great!

Our old printer died months ago. It was wireless too but rarely worked properly as far as the wireless connection went.We snagged this one on a cyber-Monday sale and it is great. Easy set-up, although because we have a Mac we had to call the help centre, but they were in fact very helpful, which is nice. Works like a dream, no problems so far with connection. Like that the ink will be cheaper too. And my husband is like a kid with a new toy because he can print right from his phone!!

  • from Windsor, On

Love this printer!!

It came earlier than expected, was super easy to install. It is much quicker than my Epson. I don't really print much but when I do it is awesome so far!
