Paint comes off

First of all, the rubber tip (soft touch tip) styluses aren't as effective as the pen-like (precision touch) tip types. I recommend you buy a precision touch type for at least these 2 reasons: 1) durability; the rubber tends to not last forever and if it breaks, good luck finding a replacement part for the tip! The pen-like styluses last much longer. 2) accuracy; the precision touch is obviously more accurate as the surface contact is reduced to a pen-tip size (1-2mm) from a pinky finger size (5-7.5mm). Secondly, the reason for the 2 stars is that the paint on this stylus (which came with a bundle deal that included a laptop) started coming off about 2 weeks into its usage. It's still coming off very slowly after months of use. Needless to mention, the paint goes all over the place and it looks ugly. So, don't buy this particular pen if you're considering the soft touch tip styluses.

Previous identicle stylus

My last stylus lasted about six months. Wheather it has a bearing or not, but my tablet has a protective screen on it. I believe the most wear on the stylus is when you drag it across the screen. Or from screen to screen. As far as using it in general, I don't think I could go without it. It is so useful when typing or clicking on very small print. Once its in my hand I can't stop myself from using it in all applications. I do believe though by using your finger to drag things you could expand the life of the pen. Dragging by finger seems to be faster and less drag. My old one split at the bottom, and I'm sure it was because of dragging. But even using it all the time, lasting for six months at a cost of only ten bucks plus tax, still seems worth it to me.
