Overview

Keep the precious people and items in your life safe and sound with the iSmartAlarm home security system. This self-controlled, wireless system uses your smartphone to remotely arm, disarm, and monitor safety features, alerting all family members via text, phone call, push notification, and email the moment there a breach in security.

More Information

After a recent report of multiple break-ins in the area, you've decided to step up your home security. Protecting your family and home is of the utmost importance, so you decide to call a security firm for an estimate. The fees, however, for system installation and long-term contracts prove to be more daunting than you expected.

With the iSmartAlarm, you've got a DIY, self-monitored, self-controlled, wireless home security system that will put your mind at ease without breaking your bank account. And it's easy to install with plug-and-play technology -- all you need is a Wi-Fi connection and a smartphone to use it.

Now that you know home security is both attainable and affordable, you also need to know how conveniently the iSmartAlarm functions. With its companion app on your iPhone or Android device, you can arm, monitor, and disarm the security system at any time, from anywhere, and in real-time.

The app also sends you alerts, emails, and text messages when a break-in or unauthorized activity is detected in your home.

Why you need this:

  • Sensor detection: Includes 2 contact sensors and a motion sensor that notify you instantly of intruders.
  • Be alert: Designated members receive phone calls, text messages, push notifications and email when the system detects a break-in or unauthorized activity.
  • Wired and Wireless: Have the option of a WiFi connection or a more reliable wired connection to your home network.
  • Remote control: Arm, monitor, and disarm the system at any time, from anywhere, in real time through the iSmartAlarm app on your iPhone or Android smartphone.
  • Remote tag: You can give a Remote to anyone in the family as a dedicated identification key, so even if they are too young for a phone or they don't have a smartphone, they can still control the system and be monitored.
  • Multiple users: Each designated user of the iSmartAlarm home security system can view the home's status and safety during suspicious activity.
  • Easy installation: Enjoy easy DIY plug-and-play setup with no monthly fees or contracts required.

Love it

Simple to set up, works great. Bought starter and 2 spot cams, i use 2 of the window sensors on my front and back gate as well so I can be sure they are closed before I let out dogs

Needs better range

Wish the item could have further range. The door sensors could not reach basement

Great product

I purchased this roughly a month ago and it's well worth the money. Easy to install, sensors are of good quality, works as described, good value and when the alarm goes off the notifications are fast. I may need to get another siren as the unit is installed in the basement but I am very happy and I would recommend this product.

It does exactly what I need it to do.

I have only had the system for about a month and everything is running fine so far. But everything it says is true. Installation took about 15 minutes. I even purchased a camera and another siren that faces the window so the alarm can be heard from the outside. Everything works great. The app works well also. I can't say I have had any problems as I have only had the system for a month. But it sure does the same job as any other alarm system that charges you 25 dollars for monitoring. This was also perfect for us because we have a townhouse. There are only so many doors and windows on the ground floor. Looking forward to picking up the keypad when BestBuy carries it so it will truly be like a real alarm system.

Better than I expected!

I expected it to be good, but not great, but oh was I wrong. This thing is not only great, but it is rock solid. Setting it up was quite easy, and having tested it out it works exactly as advertised. The door/window sensors work absolutely flawlessly, sending me a push notification on my iPhone instantly. And I mean instantly! Much faster than I thought it would be. And it never misfires on its own or fails to send when I opened a door. The batteries it came with are at full charge, and it's nice to see that indicated on the smart phone app. You can monitor the individual device's battery power via the app, which is a pretty handy bonus. The motion sensor is excellent, and sends me a notification via my iPhone as well. I gotta say, this has left me feeling very secure. If I am out, and I get a notification, I will know for sure that someone is accessing my room without my permission. Not really a downside, but I don't bother using the key fob, since the iPhone app has that same function and more. Speaking of the app, super easy to use. Well designed. I have to say I was expecting a 'made in China' not super-well designed product that does a job 'pretty well' but am pleasantly surprised that this collection of devices functions so incredibly well. Highly recommended!

Great system

So far so good. I'm happy with it, it was easy to set up, seems to work exactly as described, no glitches. It calls my phone and sends notifications.

Super imressed

Easy set up. No monthly fees. Can alarm from mobile. I get notifications when a door is opened which is great having kids come home from school alone. Added inside camera which is also nice to check on the pets. Love it. Super impressed.

System Ok..Spot cameras another story

Alarm system is easy to install and works as advertised. I added ispot cameras to system and am completely disappointed with their performance. They don't work most of the time, and in my opinion this unreliability renders them virtually useless. I purchased them hoping to monitor my house while on vacation which so far I have not been able to do, except on rare occasions. Alarm works fine, pass on the cameras.

Great System

We bought this system over the holidays and so far are really liking it. Very easy set-up and easy to use. They need a outdoor camera though. Best part is that it allowed us to get rid of our alarm provider and should pay for its self by the end of the year.

APP NOT AVAILABLE FOR CANADIANS!

After wasting time installing all the hardware, I went to the Google Play store to install the app... only to find out that it is not available for Canadians! "Not available in your country" I even tried with a VPN and still was prevented from installing. Very unhappy about this.. does best buy even test the products they sell?

Some quality issues

Both fobs and one door sensor quite working in less than one year. They replaced one fob under warranty but it's a real pain because defects have to ship to the U.S. and brokerage etc. A real pain. Easy system to use but I obviously received poor quality components. My replacement fob had a much stronger return spring on the meeting keys.

Fantastic Option for Home Security

We purchased this alarm and several packs of door sensors and the KEEP Camera. Setup was a breeze, no issues what so ever. The app is straight forward and very easy to use. Because the system has a 300 foot range on the sensors, I was able to put them on every door and window of my house and the detached garage. The system works with IFTTT so you can automate many functions inclining disarm by Geo fencing, Hue Light integration. You can set up many users if you like and give them different permissions. Our family can turn off the system with their phones if they need into our house. I would highly recommend this system to anyone.

This a fantastic and VERY EASY to use system

this is such a great system. it runs on wifi, and I'm not sure what happens if you have no wifi service even temporarily, but I love that I am notified every time my door is opened and then can check the camera to see who and even talk through the camera- great for parents that have kids coming home after school by themselves. I bought extra sensors for all the windows and that was a little pricey, but totally worth it. the battery life is over a year, well I have had it a year and batteries are still ok.

This starter kit good for Apartment/Condo, to protect entire house, you have to spend much more!

The Good: Good for apartment and/or condo. Easy setup but not with hiccup. Control and Monitor the "cube" anywhere from your Smart Phone as long as you have Internet. The Bad: Siren's low volume not going to scare any intruder nor alert your neighbor. Setup is simple but the "cube" need firmware update in which fail twice (my Internet is 150 Mbps, must be traffic congestion from iSmartAlarm side) --- so, update took too long and all my sensors, remotes and motion sensor went to sleep. Required precision screw driver to open up battery to wake up - if you do not have precision screwdriver? You are out of luck. The "cube" need wire Internet (RJ45) but communicate wirelessly with sensors, remotes and motion sensor in which all of them are batteries operated. Prepare to replace batteries after few months. Verdict: Good for Apartment or Condo, Easy setup. Expandable with extra 110 db Siren, Cameras and more sensors, etc. Prepare to replace batteries every few months.

Great bang for the buck

I did a lot of research into wireless, mobile-app enabled, non-monitored systems and this one is the best of the bunch in my opinion. There have been some smash and grab break-ins in my area recently, so I wanted an inexpensive alarm I could set up easily, pop some stickers on the windows, and leave my house for work each day with peace of mind. I set up everything and hung my door and motion sensors in under 30 minutes. To beef up your system I would recommend getting the new Spot camera for it (available from the iSmartAlarm website) and some extra sensors. The camera will also alert you if your smoke or carbon monoxide detectors go off, and if you add a micro SD chip it will record motion if it detects any when the alarm is armed. I've given it five stars because for the money, it's easy to use and does a nice basic job if you have a small home or apartment and don't need to defend it like Fort Knox. But there are a few things I would like to see developed: -glass break detector (contact sensors only work if the door or window is opened properly!) -outdoor camera -outdoor siren I spoke to their customer service reps with some questions before and after I bought the system, and they are very responsive and helpful. They said that they are hoping to develop exterior monitoring elements next.

It's a good value.

I recently bought the system and found it super simple to install. I have tested it numerous times and have found it to be working great. I like that you can buy extra contacts and motion sensors to customize your system. I have ordered a camera attachment and look forward to adding that aspect to the system. It's a great set-up. I'm glad to be rid of monthly monitoring fees and annual police fees that I never used. This system will pay for itself in less than a year.

Does the job

I've been using this alarm system for 3 months now and have had no issues. The setup was relatively straight forward, and the app works good. The apps sensor notifications and alarm phone call / email kick in within 5 seconds of it happening which is a plus. My only complaints are that the motion sensor should also have an option to send notifications to the phone, currently it only sends a notification if the alarm system is activated in Away mode. As well there should be a function introduced to clear out items in the notifications log.

Great system been using it since April 2015

I have had this system since April in our townhouse. Set-up was super easy not sure why others were having issues. It is a great system and iSmart has added a new Satellite Siren which would be good for larger homes. Hopefully best buy will offer the Satellite Siren's soon! Only gave it 4 stars as the siren needs to be hardwired into your router would be nice if it was wireless.

Decent, easy DIY home alarm system!

Really, the title says it all. I've used it for a few weeks now and while not perfect, it mostly is and I'm saving the monthly fees! When my system goes into alarm I get a call, email, and text! A snap to set up and the Ismartalarm team responded quickly to a query of which seemingly fixed itself an hour after I noticed it. All in all, I'm quite satisfied and if you go to their forums, they seem to be continually improving upon their system if albeit a little slow. Also noticed that some people were complaining about setup, this is EASY to setup and if there were problems, perhaps it may be attributed to a weak signaled router. So far no regrets... recommended!

Perfect Small Home Alarm

No issues in setting it up, no false alarms in the 10 weeks I've had it, and now that there's an external siren (indoor use only, though - see their website), it has everything I need. It covers a 1600 sq ft house - I needed four door sensors and four motion detectors to cover two floors plus a basement. They are developing a new camera (the Spot) which will provide easier and less expensive video coverage (day/night) than current offerings - check their website. Canadian pricing at Best Buy is very reasonable. I found setup with my Rogers router very straightforward, and I've seen no issues with sensors disappearing, which other users have complained about. Great product!

No issues

Had this installed and running for the past four months. No problems with it at all and it works as expected. Only downer is I am now replacing the batteries after four months in a few of the sensors, but for 3 bucks a battery not the end of the world.

Horrible

After 2-1/2 weeks of working with the iSmart Alarm team in California, I have given up and am returning the whole system including the iCamera Keep. To make a very long story short, the system is not reliable. Sometimes the system changes from "Disarmed" to "Home" and then "Armed" by itself, but telling you it was changed by one of the users who DIDN'T change it and then causing a false alarm when a sensor is triggered. Sometimes the "log" says an event happened 2 hours before it happened and once it said the event happened 4 hours after it happened. Sometimes the iCamera works and sometimes it doesn't. When the power goes out, the system sometimes doesn't notify you that the system id offline, but other times it does. If you can't trust an alarm system to work properly, it's worse than having no alarm system at all. We will be returning the system and looking into a monitored alarm system.

Great value for money! Works as advertised.

It works as advertised. super easy to setup. Remote tags have extremely short battery life but we found we can do with just the phone app. Highly recommend.

No Regrets

This is a great system if you're looking to control your home monitoring yourself on the cheap. No monthly fees. Many ways to be notified of alerts (phone, text etc). Enough useful customization. I'd highly recommended this system. Only two cons are the alarm is not as loud as it should be but load enough to make someone think twice once they're inside. The company has stated they are planning on releasing a siren alarm which can be sync'd at some point very soon. Other con is that if contact sensors or motion sensors don't connect, just remove their battery, wait about 10 secs and pop it back in. Use the app to sync and all should be fine. It's a great system and I ended up purchasing this for the main floor and buying two more contact sensors to secure the basement windows. All in all, a one time [price] hit with no fees going forward. Doesn't get much better.

Do not buy this product.

This system is not in any way ready for prime time. Tested the product and it drops sensors, it cannot add new sensors, set the alarm and it works occasionally as it sees fit. Notifications are delayed. Just too many bugs.

Rock solid

I purchase this system for my cabin after a recent breakin. It was easy to set up. I had the system up and run and all the sensors installed in less than thirty minutes. I'm looking to switch my home security system to the ismart alarm as well. The savings on the monitoring fees will easily pay for the ismart system cost. The phone app is easy to use and with the notifications from the system you can tell almost immediately if the system has been triggered. I would highly recommend this system.
