The Absolute Best for Home Theater

If you're looking to drop this much money on a TV I trust you've read many reviews. So lets get to it: Pros: black levels are indeed flawless and colors incredibly saturated, without any loss of detail. That looks as good as it sounds. The 8.3 Million local dimming zones ;), look best on things that need razor sharp lines - think menus, CGI/cartoons and video games. This TV looks fantastic with 1080p/4K HDR content - not so much with SD/broadcast. This is THE TV for home theater enthusiasts - not your daily viewer. Cons: the motion interpolation isn't great and definitely falls behind the high-end Sony LEDs (think: XBR930), best to leave this feature off. If you are coming off a good LED and like motion smoothing, this will disappoint you. period. This set is the perfect brightness level for basements. You can get it to pop in brighter rooms, but you lose the reference level of color accuracy as a result (unacceptable to us videophiles) - would get a Sony XBR930 or Samsung 8000 for a bright room. Myths: the image retention, if any exists on this TV, is GREATLY exaggerated (I am coming off a Panny Plasma and know very well what this is). I have tossed up reference patterns occasionally to try and find some, but never found anything. Even the most basic care for this TV will leave you with no IR, and absolutely no burn in. For us paranoids, run a "screen noise wipe" once a week to help you sleep at night. TL/DR: get this TV if you have a home theater.

What people are forgetting about current OLEDs

They look beautiful when there isn't a lot of action or movement going on, but the refresh rate suffers in fast paced action and things become temporarily blurry. The refresh rate pales in comparison to other high end LEDs and there is a reason Sony and Samsung took a step back from OLEDs. Another issue is life span. The organic light emitting diodes die out over time and won't produce the same quality they once did as time goes on. Again other high end LEDs will simply last much longer and hold up their original quality far longer than OLEDs. OLED technology is at a good start, but it has a ways to go in terms refresh rate and long term quality.

Great picture but not without flaws

Hands down the best picture quality. HOWEVER ... LG is terrible with motion. Lots and lots of judder. More than any TV I've ever owned. So its a toss up as you put a high def slow moving picture on this and its jaw dropping. Pick up speed and the judder is distracting. Also near black is an issue. This TV artifacts badly at near black levels. WHile the black is in fact pure black ... it has problems with 2% - 5% black levels and creates noise in this area. Overall yes its the best TV tech out there. But far from flawless.

Extremely disapointed

Extremely disappointed with the LG OLEDs and I will explain why. I bought my LG OLED TV couple of weeks ago due to the reviews of outstanding picture quality and black levels that are truly black. Don't get me wrong, the picture quality and black levels are great, but the problem is in burn-in and image retention in OLEDs. If you watch any cable channels that have static images or on-screen elements such as channel's logo displaying on the screen uninterrupted for more then 15-20 minutes, you will see that image retention when you switch to another channel or start watching a movie. And the only way to get rid of it is to turn your TV off for at least 5 minutes. I have to say after spending over two thousand dollars on a tv this is extremely inconvenient and annoying. And the worst part is that with time this burn-in image may become permanent... Now, LG Customer Service part is even more disappointing... I've tried to address this issue with LG customer service support and they refused to fix this issue, even though my TV is only couple of weeks old. I was told that it is impossible to get an image retention after short period of time and when I asked LG to send a tech to my home and see it for themselves, they refused. To me it looks like they are aware of LG OLEDs burn-in issues but refusing to take care of it...

- Amazing Television -

Feb. 14, 2017 . - I purchased this LG OLED 55" B6P two months ago from Best Buy online, and can now positively say this is a fabulous TV.. If you have a discerning eye, you will appreciate the quality of this OLED technology . More expensive than most HD UHD LCD's, not the highest either, but worth the money for the quality compared to the the other very top priced tv's . - From all the research I did on new televisions first, this TV got consistantly high praise from independant electronics website reviewers, and I agree totally now - I had a 50" Samsung plasma before this, and LG's B6P has much better picture detail and quality, deeper richer colours, etc.. I wanted a fast refresh rate for fast action sports, (actual 120 HZ), and am thoroughly satisfied with the performance. - It worked perfect right out of the box . The small manual is not overly descriptive to help with hook up for the average buyer . - Overall, it's a 5 Star product !!!

Expensive but worth it!

I've had lots of LCD's over the years and have been very happy with most of them. I was expecting an incremental increase in picture quality and enjoyment but this set made HD and 4K viewing (particularly some HDR content) look spectacular. Some night scenes with bright white stars against a pure black sky has to be seen to be believed. Local dimming on some LCD sets can approach the black level but the bright stars are severely dimmed so the impact is nothing special. I've had the set for 2 months now and have watched it in amazement every day since. I sit back about 5 feet from it and it is a very immersive experience. Even 1080i and 1080P look really good but 4K is a definite improvement providing you sit close enough.

Unreal image

I was due for a new 4K HDR TV after having an old Samsung LCD TV from 2010. After reading a lot of good reviews on the B6, I went for the Black Friday sale. With the OLEDs producing perfect blacks, the 4K HDR image was almost life-like. It is definitely worth the price, especially if you get it on sale.

OMG - Nothing comparable to this

And nothing better will come soon. 4K OLED is incredible, and the building quality is perfect.

Amazing picture

Absolutely amazing picture. Unfortunately, not the fault of the tv, there isn't enough 4k material out there yet. This tv does a great job up-scaling things like Blu-rays and HD tv feeds. Animated movies look astonishing on here, the detail and colour is unreal. The only downside to this tv is the price. Caught it on a boxing day sale, so not too bad, but still a bit high (would of gave it 5 stars otherwise). If you can afford it, do it.

Did a heck of a lot of research and decided on the LG OLED 55B6P. Waited until Black Friday when it was on sale. So glad I did. This is just a FANTASTIC TV. It is eye orgasmic. It has added another definition to TV watching. Reg TV (Telus) and streamed movies are utterly spectacular. I can not get over the vast difference between OLED and LED. Absolute night and Day. I will never buy another LED TV again. Its just crazy the crisp definition of the picture with this OLED. Very easy to set up. Air remote rocks. I would highly recommend buying an OLED. You may have to wait for a sale, but it is well worth the wait. Spectacular.

Simply the best picture you can buy right now

I have been very interested in OLED tech for a few years now. That's why I jumped to the LG 55b6p once it was in my price range. The picture is simply stunning. To try and describe to you the amazing colour and even more impressive contrast of this series of TV's would be usless, you truly have to see it to understand that this is the next wave in viewing tech. This model is the one for you if you are fine with opting out of 3D features. other then that you are not missing out much other then that from the signature series of the TV. You may read in some reviews about how it's not as bright as current high end LCD\LED TV's , this is nothing to worry about. I use it in a well lit room and have no problems with the brightness what so ever. If you haven't seen what OLED can do I would suggest to make it out to a store to see the TV in action first. What you will find is that when it comes to it this is probably the best picture you have ever seen. This unit also supports BOTH Dolby Vision and HDR 10. From what I've seen very few sets support both so you are covered when it comes to HDR. MY only small gripe is it has no S-Video input. It had a coaxial input, component input attachment, and a coaxial input attachment so why they left out S-video is beyond me BUT it's not a deal breaker by any means. It also has built in apps such as Netflix and YouTube so you can enjoy UHD streaming content without having to purchase anything external which it fantastic. All in all I think it is one of the absolute top TV's you can buy to date in 2016

Infinite Contrast and amazing color

Great TV - the true black levels and bright colors is worth the premium price. The included apps work great for me, and the 802.11ac wifi is really fast. The only thing about this TV that I don't love is the small chrome border around the outside of it - it can be a bit distracting but very minor.

Incredible blacks and excellent viewing angle! Watching Dolby vision content opens up a whole new world of colour!
