Stay away. The software on this router is awful. Out of the box it would throw errors anytime I tried to change something.

Poor Range

The range on this product is awful. I am very disappointed in its performance. 30 feet away from it and my internet speed drops by 75%.

  • from Kitchener, ON

Range is awful

Bought this wireless router thinking it would be a good upgrade to my 4 year old D-Link. It wouldn't even reach in the other room. Random disconnects are awful. The only good thing about this router is when you plug something into it. If your buying this product for its "wireless" capabilities stay away from it.

Not capable

I bought the router to get better range but it does not even pass through a sofa without loss. I speed tested the connection and found a 20% loss in speed from the router provided by the ISP. I will not recommend this router to anybody.

Excellent. Easy to set up. Zero problems.

Good for value

Not a bad product compared to pricing, especially with a USB 3.0. However, caution: caution: Disable the Smart Card thing. It will only make your router drop connections.

Very reliable

I have this since more than 2 years now. this is the best router I ever had. for me the most important aspect of a router is the reliability regardless you use it in your house or your office. the range is ok for me. it's installed in my basement and I have an excellent connection even in the second floor. but if I go out of the house, I loose the connection after a couple of meters which I also find it very convenient. why my neighbors should see my network?. and about the value, no need to say more. an AC1600 plus a usb3 and again so reliable for this price...

Easy router setup

Router setup is easy, quick, and did I say easy. my computer knowledge is a 5 out of 10 and I would buy Linksys again because of the plug and play type reputation. I followed the quick installation guide step by step telling me to unplug cable modem and wait 2 minutes and unplug this and that..... start to finish installation took 20 minutes.

difficult to install

I used 1 hour to connect, still unsuccessful. I finally give up and return to store. Not plug and play.

Easy to set up and use, average preformance

Purchased on sale about a month ago, no issues since, yet to reboot the unit. Internet speed remained the same as expected -- wifi file transfer between computers I average about 20 mb/s while connected on 5 ghz AC at 650 mbps @ 25ft away. The internal antennas appear to send signals in all directions so a central placement works best, no need to turn or rotate the router for better signal. Wired connections are full speeds. I was having issues with the 2.4 ghz N randomly dropping some equipment, likely just too many people and interference around and older equipment, so cut the router back to 2.4 ghz G and no issues since. 5 ghz A works for older equipment also. Good router for someone in a small to medium sized house that just wants to plug and play, but still have some control of the basic settings. Nice GUI for the settings, remote login to all settings and the app are a nice touch. Parental controls are simple and can be controlled remotely from the app if needed. If you are looking for transmit power and distance, this one is not for you. Look for something with the external antennas.

Linksys has gone down hill since it was bought by Cisco. The stability of this and the earlier version that I had E4200 was lacking. It will get confused between 2.4GHz and 5GHz devices. It will lock up (even reset would be better). It will after a while prevent devices from connecting. The signal is very weak for a device of this generation. This is the last Linksys product I will buy. And I say that as someone who is highly technical and knows what he is doing.

Weak signal, parental control not working well.

I bought this router for almost 2 weeks. The signal not stronger than Bell wireless modem, and speed not stable. Speed is between 1-25mbps, but Bell model stay around 24mbps. The reason I buy this router is for the parental control function. But if I set time limit for kids computer or cell phone, doesn't matter how long the time is set, it well totally block the Internet access for the whole time for that divice.

Not Impresses

was no faster then my old router which was 5+ years old and it decided to crater only after 8 months.

Great for the price, bad usb hard drive write spee

What got me interested in this was its got everything I wanted specs wise. - Dual Band - Gigabit Ethernet - AC support (although not the fastest) - USB3.0 (more to come later) Speed wise, it's fast. I didn't buy this because I'm a heavy user. I got this because it is very much future proof (for the short foreseeable future). Setup was easy, just follow the quick setup guide and you're online in 5-10 minutes (or less). There are mobile apps for you to connect to and control your router, great for not having to be near a computer. Couldn't be better. Good update from my wrt54g linksys router. Plug in my USB 3.0 portable hard drive and it acts as a media server too! But The only downside is, the read/write speed is very very slow. It averages around 10MBs write for me, which is very slow according to the maximum USB 3.0 speeds. I looked online about the write speeds and it seems like that's the norm with most routers. A bit disappointed (generally with all routers). Anyways, great router, never had it gone down and needing a reboot yet. Had it for a month now.

Linksys EA 6400

Very easy to set up, will take no less then 15 minutes to complete, however, wifi range is not what I expected. Would not recomend if you are using multiple wifi devices that aren't in close range of the router.

Security Disaster Waiting To Happen

Bought this router to conform to most of my devices now being 802.11ac compliant. To ensure I was getting this I forced it to AC mode only. This caused my macbook pro that supports this AC standard to loose connection, the only way to fix this was restarting the router. Speed tests even while connected were as slow as my existing N based router and the range is no better. Outside of this that whole linksys cloud business is a security issue waiting to happen, who needs to constantly mess with their router?

Very Happy with

Very easy to setup and it tripled our wifi download speeds. Love the parental controls.... Allows me to turn off Internet to specific devices like game systems and kids phones. Has available apps for filtering websites. Also gives strong signal throughout house. Would definitely recommend this router....pricier but worth it.

  • from Burlington, ON

really disappointed

have only had linksys routers and all have worked really well. decided to upgrade to this one thinking it's going to blow my older one away which is about 5 years old now. connected it, wireless signal strength is worse than my old router...will be taking it back to best buy and thinking about my options...really disappointing for the money

Router resets every 2-3 hour

I was somewhat inpressed when I first bought this but then the routers needed reseting to get it back online. I checked the web site, but no new firware to install. Try something else.
