HI, I purchased as my windows 7 was not connecting with my old one. I ws not able to connect the smart feature. Also found that there is a limited amount of range, to connect stuff to it. When I went into best buy to purchase it-- not a lot of the salesmen was able to give to me the features between this one and the assus-- wish I had bough that one.

Easy to set up, Terrible range.

I have this set up in my living room but I have to resort to using mobile data in the upstairs bedroom. This might be perfect for a really small apartment though.

I am happy with this router

For the price this is good router. I also have a 2 story house and find the signal to be pretty good. I have connection speeds of 300 Mbps for the 5 GHz connection and 144 Mbps for the 2.4 GHz connection. This router got an editor's choice on in Nov 2016 for a budget router. At the end of Dec 2016, I got it on sale for 33% off which made this a pretty good deal. Two thumbs up.

Very short range WiFi

If you stay within eye contact of the router it will work acceptably well. The router fails miserably when walls and floors are involved ! It covered about 1/3 of what my older routers would easily cover.

Bad range

I had a cheaper router and i was going outside in the street and i still had connection. im going downstair and im still very close from the router and no signal at all.

Linksys ac1200 wifi router

The only pro to this router was the easy setup. No range at all besides in the room where the router is placed. My house is only 2 floors and in comparison our old ancient router covered the entire house plus our huge backyard with great speed. I expected that upgrading with the Linksys would prove an even better experience than our ancient router, but was greatly disappointed and returned the product

USB port prone to drop outs.

Do not purchase this router for the usb 3.0 port to install pseudo network storage. The USB port for np apparent reason goes to sleep and will not wake up unless you reboot the router. After 2 firmware updates it still does not work properly. This thing runs HOT. If you can't put it in a ventilated location it will very likely have a short lifespan.

Poor Speed On 2.4Ghz

The speed on 2.4Ghz is too slow. In my 100MBps connection I got only 2Mbps speed even when I sit right next to router. Also it does not have good wifi range all over my home. When you connect 5GHz there is not Issues. I modified some settings in router & it did not help. I got Onhub after trying different routers, it did the magic in my home.

Great router with built-in parent controls!

Yes, I could have installed OpenDNS on some other router to get the parental controls, but I'm very busy, and I'm sure you are, too. This router worked great for me. There was a small hiccup with the setup whereby I had to update the firmware, and it wasn't straightforward, but once I was past that, the rest was easy! I've read other reviews where readers say the signal isn't strong, but we've had no issues throughout our 2-story home. Feeds my UHD TV, many iPods, two PCs, laptop. Has a separate guest network feature which is nice.

Used to work.

Worked fine with Win 8.1, now with Win 10, doesn't work at all!

Its OK but...

I bought this router for my home, though I found its signal to be rather lacking compared to my prior router (which was an old N version).

Don't waste your time and money

Thought I'd replace my ancient router with this one. What a terrible idea! Half my house didn't have WiFi with this router, which even my old one could do. Thought it was broken so I brought it back for a replacement, but the new one has the same problem. Going back to the store, don't waste your time and money, pick another router.

Poor signal

I just installed this router, on the second floor of a 3 level townhome that I live in. I bought it specifically because it was supposed to be have good range and fast downloads. The speed when close to the router is excellent, but when on the second level download performance fell off a cliff... I was trying to look at facebook pictures on a iphone and it was clocking and not able to download the pictures for up to 30 seconds... I will most probably return this product

I aways love Linksys router

This is my 3rd router that I have used for home. All my Linksys routers have been performing well and reliable. I bought this one a week ago and I am very happy with it. I get 100mbps for 2.5G and 300mbps for 5.0G. 5.0 G band signal is not as strong as 2.5G. I can only use it on the same floor that the router is placed. I can get 2.5G band anywhere in the house. Setup was easy and I got everything up and running in 30 minutes. I was looking into the 1900AC and the price is a little bit to high to me. This one works just fine to me and I am very happy with what I get.

Worst router ever

My old G is better then this one. not 10 feet from the router and signal strength go from excellent to fair and disconnects all without me moving my laptop. really disappointed. upgraded because added security cameras to the house and can not believe how bad the signal is with this router.

  • from Toronto, ON

Gratified to get WiFi

The router was reasonably easy to attach to my ISP's modem and program my desired settings. It might have taken several tries but I am now getting Wi Fi where I was not before. I have not needed Windsurfers yet, either. For me, this was a good purchase.

Horrible Range

I had a previous Linksys router which was an antenna-less one. I love the Smart Wifi feature and being able to control who goes on my network. The range was good on my previous one. The problem with this router is that as soon as you walk 10 feet away from it, the signal practically becomes non-existent. I would like the speed of an AC router but want it all over my house. Don't bother buying this particular router, you will be greatly disappointed.

Great router

Installed this router two days ago, it was super easy to install and my wifi is now at the speed it should be, coverage is also very good. It has only been two days but absolutely no problems, hope for the best in the future. I strongly recommend this router.
