Love it, BUT!

It works very well and allows a consistency when used for several systems. BUT, this thing sucks battery power way too much. We are replacing batteries every 3-4 weeks! Other remotes we have last almost a year with the same batteries. I suspect that it's the cute little color screen that is drawing too much power. When the batteries get low, it's the screen that goes into dim mode. Other than that, it works well.

Buttons stop working

After only two years of use the buttons stop working. Very convenient after the 1 year warrenty ends. This reomte is not sturdy for very heavy use.

  • from Hamilton, ON

This works really well.

We have 2 of these for 2 different systems. What is great about this remote, is that you can control different systems and the key patterns remain the same. The only negative thing, is that it goes through batteries quickly.

cooler display for channels is awesome

The remote works well. I love how a few things turn on and off with the push of one button. Takes a while for it to accomplish it, but it's pretty user friendly to do this. Have a 75" Samsung, Harman Kardon amp, 7.1 surround, Shaw cable box, bluray player, and netflix built in through the TV. Can push one button to control 3 ways I do viewing / listening - one for just TV, one for Netflix, one for bluray / DVD, one for listening to music. Favourite feature is adding the logos of TV stations into the saved channel slots (as you set it up on your computer). You scroll through the 23 saved options on the display screen, and press the corresponding button, and you're on that selected channel. Genius - instead of having to individually type in channel if you know it, or scroll through your guide of 100's of unused channels to get to the ones you want, or wonder if you have... can also group them in any order (Sportsnet and TSN variations in first couple screens, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX on another, etc.).

My 880 died after 9 years and I bought the 650 to replace it. I found it very easy to use right away although I guess being familiar with the 880 helped. If you are like me and have previously owned a Harmony remote, remember that you don't have to go through the process of setting up each device. Just log into your account and click "sync" and you are set up in less than 2 minutes. Would never consider any other brand.

HIGHLY Disappointed

This remote was given as a replacement for my Samsung TV, I am having trouble every day to turn on the TV or to click any other channels, Will get it replaced with Samsung remote....Such a pain..

Good remote replacement but a word of caution...

We bought ours March 2017. Now, 4 and half months later it started doing things on its own and changing menus for no reason. But FEAR NOT! THERE IS AN EASY FIX FOR THIS. READ ON TO FIND OUT HOW! After doing some research it turns out that there seems to be some sort of design flaw. After continued use, the connection for the 2 AA batteries loosens over time and the remote seems to take on a life of its own. We would be watching tv and you can't turn it off because it had changed menus and thinks it's already been turned off. The screen would occasionally go black and the Logitech logo would appear, then some unrelated menu. To fix this when it happens, just remove the battery cover, then remove the batteries. Get something to pry the metal tabs of each of the battery connections to make the connection a little more snug. Put the batteries back in and VOILA! Battery connection fixed. I'll admit it was frustrating for a week or so before i figured this out but other than this issue it really is a great replacement for the multitude of remotes we had on our coffee table. If it weren't for this I would have given it 5 stars.

Not as expected. Great quality as usual by logitec, however this remote fails to perform. My unit restarts for no reason, (checked all the battery connectors, still no use) Drains the battery super fast (checked all the settings using my harmony app, yet, no improvements) Slow and laggy performance. Look for an alternative.

It didn't function as well as other logitech devices in the past

350 is way easier to use

  • from Edmonton

The older moder, 350, is way easier to use. My advise is do not waist your time and money on the 650, just go withe 350

  • from Edmonton, AB

Stupid upgrade

I had the 350 model which is way easier to use that the 650

Logitech Harmony 650 is amazing

After reading a lot of reviews about universal remotes I decided that the 650 was the best bang for the buck. Aside from needing IE to set it up online there were no issues. All of my AV stuff was programmed into the 650 and works perfectly. The option to add some custom buttons was the icing on the cake.

Can Have a 'Reboot' Problem - Annoying but Fixable

A couple of months after purchasing the remote screen would not work right away but display the initial 'Welcome' message. After this one has to step through the dozen or so welcome commands to push various buttons, then the remote would work as intended. It's the same rigamarole you have to go through when changing batteries. It appears to be a relatively common problem due to a voltage interruption caused because one of the battery springs gets loose and triggers an "off/on"! It can be fixed by taking out the batteries and prying out the springs a bit to re-tension them. You'll probably need to do it every 6-12 months. Not a good design feature! I hope Logitech fixes this annoying hiccup in future production.

  • from Cambridge, ON

Surprisingly good

After checking out the reviews I wasn't totally convinced this would be a good remote, especially considering how it's less than a third of some of the other remotes, but its been great! I plugged it into my laptop to program and the whole process was super quick and easy with no problems at all. The look isn't the best thing ever, but the function is great.

Great product Right Out of The Box

I received this remote on Christmas day 2016. Before you say "what took so long" I wanted to put this product through a rigorous pace before reviewing keeping notes along the way. When I review a product I wait at least 3 months so that any bugs that come will come BEFORE posting a proper review. So here it goes. This product is great. It is well constructed and blends in with the home décor nicely. Right out of the box I had this unit programmed and working all my entertainment devices within 20 minutes. All you have to do is get all the model numbers of your electronics and put them in the software which is free from Logitech. The software is simple to use and is clearly laid out and after programming it my wife had it ibn her hands and was using it like a champ right from the get go. You do have to look for the particular button you need but 99% of them are listed already on the remote. I am using the batteries supplied and so far they are still working. One recommendation is to set the remote back light to just stay on for 10 seconds after you are through using it. I would recommend this product to anyone who has a home entertainment system. You will only need this one remote.

Great remote - with some caveats

This is, overall, a really good remote for the price. If you are looking for a relatively easy to use remote to control a few devices, and you don't need bluetooth or wireless capabilities, this is great budget choice. However, I would say that set-up, while easy enough, is not a breeze. Most reviews make it sound like anyone can just plug this remote on their computer and the set up is done is 5 minutes, which is not the case. Set-up is easy enough but you have to spend some time doing do properly, and also, you have to be relatively comfortable with electronics and computers in general to set it up correctly. Neither my mother nor my in-laws, all in their 70's, could set up this remote properly, even though they are all familiar with computers and own iPads and smartphones. Don't get me wrong, I still recommend this remote highly, just know that set up, while easy enough is not exactly plug in and go. I note that we are using this remote just to control a Samsung TV, receiver, cable box and apple TV. It works well with all the devices, except that it gets buggy when controlling the smarthub feature on the Samsung TV. It keeps freezing when trying to access netflix from the smarthub, for no apparent reason, and it's an annoyance. But when controlling the cable box, the receiver and the TV (other than the smart hub), it works perfectly. One more thing, our living room set up is simple enough so the harmony 650 is all we need to control our devices, but if you have a real, more modern home theater system, I would recommend one of the higher end logitech remotes.

Happy with these products

I originally bought the 700 about 5 years ago and then the 650 two years ago when i got a second TV set. The rechargeable batteries packed it in about 6 months ago, so i replaced them with Duracell rechargeables with no problems. The buttons are now failing, so its time to replace with a new 650.The life of the non-rechargeable batteries is quite long so I don't miss the rechargeable capability of the 700. My only issue is that the signal to change channels on the Rogers PVR lasts a little too long so it sometimes jumps to the next channel. A little annoying. Other than that, very happy.

Great universal remote

Super easy to set up through your pc. All you need is the make and model of the electronics you want it to control.

  • from Fonthill, ON

Remote was incredibly easy to set up, customize and replace 4 separate controllers including my HD projector (which requires power off twice). I don't have a single complaint about this remote. Simply amazing.

Excellent product and company, Five stars

Purchased this to replace one we have had for 6 yrs, would not purchase any other. Easy to program and use. We had a problem with the first remote and Logitech replaced it, under warranty.

Incredibly easy to use, online interface to set up device is very user friendly. I love pushing one button to view either cable TV, Bluray, Roku or USB device. Would recommend this remote for absolutely anyone looking for convenience and reliability. LOVE IT!

takes a bit of time programming the remote, but once it's done, it is working very well.

Pretty Good Remote

Replaced an older Logitech remote with this newer one. The old one over the years served very well. No problems at all. I expect this one will continue to be very good value especially since getting it on sale. Easy to setup even recognizing Android TV box remotes.

  • from North Bay

Time Saver

Great Remote. Replacing an older(10yrs) HARMONY ONE. Easy, quick setup and does what it is supposed to do.

  • from East York

Set up was similar to other Logitech remotes, perhaps a bit easier. Setup was intuitive almost too much do, making assumptions about what you mean, perhaps to the detriment of 5he set up. Buttons better than virtual ones. Screen not helpful though.

  • from Edmonton

Doesn't last

It's good software, great concept, the price used to be good but it keeps going up in price with no improvement in quality. After 18 months, 2 or 3 of the buttons no longer work. I have 3 in my family and they're all having the same problem. If Logitech wants to charge more, they need to make a product that lasts longer than a few months! Without these crucial buttons, the remote is unusable for me and now the price is nearly double what I paid for it. I'm not happy.

  • from Verdun, QC

Awful setup procedure and hard to use

I design software user interfaces for a living so I'm familiar with technology, but this remote is a nightmare to set up and use. The software to customize buttons is ridiculously hard to use, creating completely unnecessary confusion, roadblocks and slowdowns. It's harder to set up and use than the 350, which I exchanged for this one in the hope it would be easier for my daughter to use. I haven't found a way to properly customize the volume buttons so they control my AV receiver regardless of which device is in use. And compared to the 350, you can't just select a device -- you have to first press the "Devices" button, and then select the device, which gets really annoying with frequent use. The remote is actually more confusing to use than the 350. Ultimately it's much easier to juggle 4 or 5 remotes than to fuss with one bad device.

  • from Toronto, ON

Had this remote for several years and I must say I had stopped using it due to Logitech's lack of user friendly software was frustrating. After buying a Bose Solo 15 and adding it to my TV equipment I decided to go back to this remote. GLAD I did !!!! Logitech has a great user interface software now ! Very easy to use! THANKS ! GREAT REMOTE !!!!!!!!!!!

Replacement for Harmony 700

I purchased this remote to replace the Harmony 700 which is no longer manufactured by Logitech. It was very easy to copy the commands to the new remote. I was using it in about 30 minutes. I'm satisfied with my purchase.

  • from Hamilton, ON

I purchased this remote in hopes to combine the three remotes I was currently using. Technically this is what happened. I didn't realize I was going to have to download software - well after an hour the software was downloaded and promptly crashed my laptop. Luckily my buddy has the software and offered to set it up. He managed to set it up; however, there is a lot of steps to get to each thing. I have a audio system that I have to change the function on, for some reason the TV speakers always turn on, the pausing live TV function doesn't work to name a few. It isn't the most convenient remote to use, but it is the least convenient remote to use. That being said it's better than having to use all three,

Great product

I bought this on sale to replace my 7 year old Harmony 510. There was (is) nothing wrong with my 510 but it only controls 5 devices and I wanted to control at least 6 devices (the new 650 controls 8 devices). I am quite happy with it. My settings for the 510 transferred easily to the 650, then I added another device and tweaked the activites a bit. I like the favourite channels feature, selecting a favourite channel tunes the channel much faster than using a sequence, which was how it was done on the 510. There is a site mentioned in the logitech forums where you can download channel icons. Also, the Apple TV activity not only switches the inputs, etc., it also wakes up the Apple TV. Nice! One thing I do notice is with the 650 it seems I have to press the buttons a little more firmly, maybe the buttons on the 510 were getting a little soft? No big deal. I'm glad I switched. Can't say anything about durability yet, but if it's as good as the 510 it's great. I did have to phone customer support as the remote was not updating one screen properly but it was fixed on the call in a reasonable time frame.

Harmony 650 and Home Theater

This remote is used to control an RCA RLDEV3258A-H TV, a Denon AVR-800 receiver and a Panasonic DVD-RV32 player. The receiver and DVD player were in the Harmony database, the TV had to be learned from the RCA remote. As advertised, it supports multi-device activities. For example, to 'Watch a Movie', it turns on the DVD player, sets the TV input, and routes control buttons sensibly, sending volume up/down to the TV and play/fast forward to the DVD player. Even better, once I posted something on the Logitech forum, they created the TV device in the database. I can't comment on durability but am very pleased with the functionality.

March 2016 - Anyone can program this remote

Purchased this remote for [price] about 3 weeks ago. I was able to program it with just a little bit of thought. Once you have located all the model numbers from the equipment you want to control, it sets up smoothly. One complaint is that I set it up to work our Apple TV and it worked initially and now either doesn't turn it on or off or allow you to control the device. Well at least I was able to eliminate 3 other remotes. I still use the Apple TV remote to control that device. The Harmony buttons all make sense even though they may not be labelled like the Rogers Remote - It was pretty easy to figure out which button to use to perform a function.

  • from Toronto, ON

At Least it didn't cost a lot

Purchased this remote control during the online boxing day sale. Paid about less then half price for it. Was easy to setup and was straight forward to add additonal devices as I used it. Worked for about a month well, then it started having issues. The screen kept resetting whenever I would push any button. I would not buy this product again even for half price.

  • from Markham, ON

Surprisingly easy to set up and use

This remote can replace up to 8 remotes and is surprisingly easy to set up and use. On top of that it offers the possibility to program more complex functionality if required. Excellent value for money.

  • from Montréal, QC

Exactly what I wanted

Ease to setup and ease to use. Works with Bell receiver, TV, AMP, and Apple TV. You can even switch it to the specific component remote to unlock those settings. Does exactly what I want it to do.

  • from Calgary, AB

Great remote for the price

Bought this on sale and for the price you can't go wrong. This is my third Harmony remote. 1st broke from being dropped many times. 2nd was a fancier model and stopped working right. So wanted to switch back to a more basic model. Super easy to transfer all my settings and I was up and running in 10 minutes.

  • from Kelowna, BC

Great, just as advertised

Picked this up to replace an 8 year old Harmony because a couple of the most commonly used buttons had died. Process to transfer all my settings over was easy, bringing my while configuration over without issue. Works great, controls all the things. Response time on individual button presses seems faster than my ancient Harmony. Feels good in the hand. Buttons to control everything I need. Been using it for a month now and no complaints.

  • from Oakville, ON

Love Logitech products!

The Logitech Harmony 650 remote is reliable and dependable and once you have read the user instructions it is so easy to program and set up using your Mac or PC (I have mine set up on both systems and use either depending what I am working on). I have been using my model 650 for about 5 years now and I have never had any issues with it. I have purchased several tv's and switched cable providers a few times and after some quick program set up changes the 650 is always ready to go. I would recommend this to anyone looking to buy a universal remote.

Logitech Harmony 650 Universal Remote Control

We now have three of these units which provide outstanding control of our media devices in various locations. They were easy to set up and operate plus they reduce the remote control clutter which was previously a nuisance. Basic functions for every device seems to work easily from this remote.

  • from Brampton, ON

Very cool

Nice easy to use remote

  • from Calgary, AB

Does the Job

This is the 4th 650 I have purchased. They all are being used. Once you get past the setup, they just keep working. Good remote for the price. Even better when on sale. Takes the place of 4 remotes and adjust all the inputs on my receiver. The wife would be lost without it.

  • from Halifax, NS

easy to set up

Good remote, easy to setup. Just think the 'ok' button is to small. Other buttons are more visible then my old Harmony.
