Beware -- this does not connect easily to your wifi

I bought this unit and invested over 3 hours of my time setting it up. It is a piece of junk. No issues with the price if it worked, but it does not. The system is dependent on a "hub" which has to set up to your wifi. The one I purchased did not set up with my wifi at all. I followed all the procedures in the manual and checked on-line for help. What a waste of time and money. Returning it ASAP.

Great remote!

This is a great remote and I did a full review on my YouTube.com/SuperdanTech channel. I invite you to have a look; https://youtu.be/wQo4ZbCdlbs

The best remote, period.

I have done a lot of research before buying this remote and it is the best IMO. Check out my full review here: https://youtu.be/wQo4ZbCdlbs

Love it... works great!

Small and fits in your hand nicely. Personally I really like the touch screen great. I find I use the arrow keys more so than the number pad so I cant really comment on how good or bad a touch pad num pad is. I find the touch screen is fantastic and I like the shortcuts added on the screen. The IR reader on the back works great, had an issue with finding the DVR code, however, used the IR reader on the back and within seconds the remote was registered and worked great. Button placement for the forward and reverse buttons are a bit odd, however, the second notch allows you to move the remote into a good holding position when using them. In addition, there are also gesture features which allow you to do all the same features so really you dont even need to use them half the time. The only complain I have with the remote is that there seems to be a slight delay between when you push a button and when it registers (1 second). Other than that its fantastic! Totally recommend this remote.

Expensive and Ultimately usless

I spent w days trying to sink this with a Bose sound system and various components and an hour on the phone with Logitech. They finally gave up. This will absolutely not work with a Bose system don’t let anyone tell you it will

Not a fan

Ive owned 3 harmony remotes before this one Ive stopped using this one because its not user friendly. Buttons are in awkward spots. Most functions have been put onto the touch screen, and the touch screen only works half of the time. The number pad was moved to the touch screen, which is frustrating when you are trying to enter a channel you wish to watch. Again, because the touch screen doesn't work most of the time. Basic functions you are used to quickly pressing on a regular remote are all on difference screens on the touch screen making this a challenging experience to navigate through your tv channels. I would not recommend.

Nice remote, no issues

This is my first Harmony remote and with all the negative reviews about the set up I was skeptical about purchasing. I did not find any issues with the setup other than a couple of tweaks, within an hour of install on my PC I had everything working. Love the touchscreen clarity, button layout and response are awesome and I couldn't be more pleased with the purchase. Even showed my tech inept spouse how to use this and she has no issues. Would gladly recommend for anyone looking to simplify their setup.

Big step backwards, not worth the $$$

I have owned many harmony remotes most recently the one and 1100, and bought this thinking it would be an upgrade, what a mistake. The remote has no clue how to manage inputs on my Toshiba tv. I am not an idiot programming these things but the software makes the troubleshooting much more complicated than it needs to be. After 3 tries at trying to get a simple task like getting the TV inpiut correct, I've given up and this piece of junk is going back. i expect more and this is a big step backwards in my opinion.

It's fine just expensive

I've had almost every Harmony remote over the last several years so I'm actually fine with this one. It's smaller and lighter, button placement is not optimal but it's not as big a deal as most people are complaining about here. They've made some strange choices but the remote is still highly functional. I dropped my Harmony One and the screen cracked - that was the best one I've had. It's hard to figure out their line because everything is called Ultimate. Another poor choice. Anyway, this one is older than the "Ultimate Home" and doesn't come with an RF pod or ability to work with a smartphone - but it's almost the same price so be careful. The main reason I got this one is because they're discontinuing it and I was able to price match and take one third of the price off that way. That makes it a whole lot more reasonable. A hundred dollar gift card made it good. Otherwise, the price is completely out of sync with reality. The setup was fine - it copied my config from my Harmony One remote and set it all up on the new one with no trouble. The only issue I had was that the "skip ahead" button for watching recorded shows on my PVR is now combined with the fast forward button and can only be accessed by holding the FF button down - yet another poor choice by Logitech. However, you can reprogram the buttons and make the FF button the skip ahead (advance) button and make FF the hold-down function if you know that the DVR function is called advance and the skip back button is called replay. It's all working fine now - if you can get it on sale, it's still quite good.

Close to perfect

I absolutely love this remote. I never touch the original remotes, because in all honesty this one works better than the originals. Piece of cake to set up, upgrade, operate etc. I've had it now for over 4 years and it's worked flawlessly since new.

disappointing successor to the Harmony One

As with most of the previous reviews, I found this remote to be a clumsy replacement for the Harmony One remote. Yes, it takes two hands to operate, the button layout is awkward and confusing and the 'replacement' keys on the touchscreen are a real pain to use. If I had a choice, I would have bought another Harmony One !!! If it ain't broke, why try to 'fix' it ?!?

  • from Montreal

I love it!

First I was really afraid to buy it after reading some bad reviews. Personally I have no issue with the remote. It's versatile, easy to program and a charm to use. When you know how to use it and program it efficiently it's way better than older model.

  • from North Bay, ON

Old model was better.

I got this to replace the Original Harmony One and do not like it half as much. Its like a Smart phone remote, multiple screens and the channel numbers being digital is terrible. Sorry Harmony this remote is a step back for ease of use.

Logitech Harmony Ultimate One - The New Coke of the next generation of universal remote controls.

If you have the classic Harmony One, take good care of it; its successor is an embarrassment. I can't seem to be able to place a fully detailed review, so I'll just have to mention the deal-breaker with this remote: New button distribution is atrocious, with the playback buttons at the top, so close to the master Off button you end up hitting that one instead... but there's so much wrong with this remote

The power switch is millimetres away from the rewind switch. So easy to shut erverything down when you're only trying to rewind a little.

Harmony Ultimate One Remote

Being of average to above average in technical knowledge helped me to configure the remote without incident. In fact I have revised the settings twice in the first week since purchasing. The interface once downloaded is straitforward and intuitively helpful. Take care to find the exact model number of each device that you wish to configure. you will also have to understand outputs and functions although the "My Harmony" download minimizes any fears or discomforts you might experience. A great product especially as I purchased at a deep dicounted price. Thanks Logitech and carry on carrying on!

Careful what you wish for

After using the Harmony 650 for years successfully, I decided on the Ultimate One, mostly to get away from the irritating problem of battery replacement on the 650. The Ultimate has really interesting features, and is an easy setup if you understand the system. I use it on IR mode only, but find it flaky as hell when selecting favourite channels. For some reason it does not always select all three digits on the channel number. Other problem is that it does not always turn all devices on or off, but to its credit has the ability to manually toggle each device on or off. Too much money, but I do not know of any other remote that can handle today's myriad of devices any better. I can select digital tv, apple tv, blue ray movies all with relative ease.

  • from Toronto, ON

It's a good idea but...

It almost works, but I have spent a lot of time trying to set it up and the overall performance is disappointing. I still have to keep all the other remotes around so it hasn't done what I had hoped.

  • from London, ON

Love It!!

Got this on sale and have been using it for a couple of weeks. Setup was easy because I was able to transfer from my old Harmony remote. It does take some getting used to but if you find yourself accidentally setting off functions on the touch screen, you can lock the screen to prevent this from happening. This remote works great for me and I highly recommend it.

The Touch Screen is in the Wrong Location

I've had two Harmony One's (with the touch screen) for several years. One of them needed to be replaced, so I bought this model - bad mistake. The touch screen is below the play, pause, fast-forward button, a reversal from previous and some of the current models. Instead of being able to hold in one hand and use your thumb to press the most used buttons, two hands are required. One to hold the remote and the other to press play, pause, fast-forward. Otherwise, with one hand use, the touch screen is often touched resulting in unintended consequences. I am a fan of Harmony remotes, just not this one. This remote became so frustrating, I have replaced it with the Harmony Home Who ever designed this, did so without proper regard to function. A terrible waste of money.

Like most Logitech remotes, it quickly fades

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. Works okay but lots of software issues and now mine is stuck on the "Harmony" splash screen and is completely inoperable.

Great Remote

It was very easy, step-by-step set up. It runs my pioneer receiver, changes the input on it for my PS4, Android tv box, and cable. Controls everything flawlessly. This is a good remote, the design is great, fits the hand perfectly. Lacks a skip forward and backward button the the red green yellow and blue buttons can be custom made... any button can be custom programmed to be any button you wish it to be. VERY EASY TO SET UP. Don't be fooled by other people's poor reviews. ANYONE can program and run this remote, ANYONE!

It's Decent

I purchased this remote on sale to replace a failing 700 I've had for several years. The first one I got had issues with the direction buttons sticking and a cosmetic defect (bubble in outside case). I exchanged this with no issue. This remote is certainly superior in construction to to 700 (and 650 which we use elsewhere) and the setup software is far more intuitive than previous generations. The buttons are places somewhat awkwardly unless one intends to use to touch screen swipe options. Other reviews mention difficulty with the IR. the devices must be within decent proximity, or they won't all turn on as expected. Get the version with the IR blaster if you don't want to hold the remote up for 10 seconds or so. The bottom is very round and will rock or fall off the table if care isn't taken. The glossy surface gets ugly FAST. Out of the box it looks like a gem, but once you start touching it, it just looks dirty. Who wants to be polishing their TV remote? It also scratches easily just like any other piano finish.

  • from Toronto, ON

Don't waste your money

The remote seems to continuously mess up our systems. For example, the AMP and TV go on but not the cable box. Or the cable box and AMP go on, but not the TV. When turning everything off, the TV often stays on. Additionally, harmony sets the AMP often to something other than the TV connection. We paid to have Best Buy program the device and had them back once. Half the time, we have to get out another remote to fix what the harmony remote is screwing up. Wish I had not bought this.. it was easier using two remotes. Last, the delay between choosing an action (ie picking a channel) and the action happening is LOOOOOONG. So you hit "7" for channel 7, nothing happens. You hit 7 again and eventually wind up on channel 77. Sad we spent the money on something that will end up in the trash.

  • from London, ON

Great remote but...

I love Logitech, they've had some great products over the years. The remote is great, easy to program and works well. The drawback for me is the design, the transport is in an awkward position, and the touch screen is a little awkward as well. I've switched back to a 650, which fits better in my hand, and has a layout that is a little more functional for me. I think I'll patiently wait for the second generation! If that stuff doesn't bother you, it's a great product!!

Upgrading was great

I am upgrading from a previous Logitech remote (880 Model). For set up this remote was far more easier then the 880. It had all the latest Audio, Video, and Gaming components that it took about 10 min to set up. Also the ability to program functions like WATCH TV and have all the right equipment turn on and others turn off was something I enjoyed with the 880 and was happy to see it carry through to the new model. It fits comfortably in my hand. I can easily hit any button without having to stretch or use two hands. They have added a new sleep function on this remote that will not only turn off the TV but all other devices. A big plus. The only negative compared to the 880 is the battery life. With the 880 I was able to go almost a whole week with out recharging it. This one seems to drain much faster I get about 2 days and then have to charge it. Now a days I have gotten into the habit of placing it on the charger each night.

What I expected

I have been using a Harmony 890 remote for the past 5 years and love it. It has been dropped on the floor several times due to the shape/design (rounded bottom) and some of the buttons were becoming finicky, so it was time to replace it. As a fan of Harmony remotes, I had been eyeing the Ultimate One for some time and decided to take advantage for the Boxing Day Sale. The setup was simple, easily transferred the functions from the 890 to this one using the new software. I needed to make a few subtle changes to set it up the way I wanted it, but that was easy enough. I like the size, and one complaint is the lack of fixed number buttons, but to add them would increase the size considerably. I will get used to the onscreen buttons, as a matter of fact, I already am. My only other complaint is the shape of the bottom. I thought from the pictures that this would have a flat bottom, it does not. It is also rounded like my last one. I often set the remote on the arm of my chair, as well does my family, and it easily gets knocked off as it does not sit flat. This has taken some reconditioning of myself and my family to lay it upside down or on a flat surface. All in all, I am happy with this remote, it does everything I want it to do and more.

  • from Newmarket, ON

Decent Product

Overall I am satisfied with the remote. It was not as intuitive to set up as you would expect but through a bit of digging on the web I was able to find most of the answers. It has made it easier for my wife who is not too technical to operate our system. Wish you had the ability to change the order of your activities as they appear on your remote!

  • from Kitchener, ON

Latest remote is so so....

We've owned and 880 and 2 720s before this model and I have to say the touch screen is a horrible upgrade. We are always mis-swiping as the direction has to be bang on otherwise you get something else unexpected. The buttons on the 720 eventually started to become nonfunctional but if they could somehow bring that model back with better buttons, we'd much prefer it over this one. The stand is great, the lithium battery is awesome, the actual buttons are fine, the touchscreen was a shark jump in my opinion. The wife won't even use this one as we still have to use our remote that came with the smart tv even though there is Smart TV functionality in it... I would say you should be an advanced level tv remoter to use this device.

Great Remote!

After reading a number of mixed reviews and some downright negative ones I was a little hesitant to purchase this remote but I must say this remote is great. I'm brand new to this whole world so I don't have anything to compare it to but I've been using this remote for almost a month now and my experience has been positive. I wanted to address some of the negatives I've read from other reviewers... 1) East of use/software/programming - Some have said the software doesn't work or is difficult to use. Maybe it's been updated since those comments were posted because the software from Logitech couldn't be more user friendly. It guides you through the process step by step and is very well laid out. I've heard complaints about there not being any numbers. Swipe the touch screen twice either left or right and you've got numbers. You can also change that if you want. Since it has 50 programmable favorite channel presets I hardly ever use the number pad anyway. The remote itself is also very easy to use. It does take a bit of getting used to though because it will be different than the remote you are used to using so there's an adjustment period for the new button/menu layout. 2) Accidental touch screen activating - some people say they are constantly hitting the touch screen while reaching for the buttons above it or that you need 9 inch thumbs in order to reach them. In a month, neither me nor any member of my family (inlcuding two teens) has done this once and each one of us is easily able to tilt the remote in our hands to reach the top buttons. Plus, if you find this is happening to you, there is a screen lock you can activate which simply requires a single swipe to unlock. 3) Doesn't sit well on a flat surface - this is way off. I found it be perfectly balanced and sits equally well beside me on the arm rest or on a wooden shelf. The contoured grippy bottom sits nicely in my hand or anywhere else I put it. The biggest adjustment for us was probably that you have keep the remote pointed towards your devices until everything is fully powered on as it will adjust the input settings for your devices but only if they are powered on (makes sense though doesn't it?). I highly recommend this remote. For us it got rid of 5 remotes that we were always losing. Having a built in rechargeable battery and a charging cradle to sit in is a bonus as it means we no longer have to worry about dead batteries either.

Harmony Ultimate One and Hub

One of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had. I initially bought the Harmony Ultimate One because of new components in my entertainment center, but soon found that the remote was unreliable [hit and miss] controlling the various devices. Then to make matters worse the lock screen would initiate after several seconds then to unlock it 4 out of 5 times it did not work ... very frustrating. There was no was to turn that feature off. I thought that obtaining a "hub" would make the signal clearer to the various devices ... boy was I wrong ... it did absolutely no good. Both were returned to Best Buy w/o any problem ... thanks Best Buy. In short, Logitech should stick to the products that they're good at .. computer peripherals ... their remote sucks. Having said that I've had a Harmony One for the last 5 years without any problems and programming it is a piece of cake.

  • from Toronto

Harmony Ultimate One, a new kid in town

Ease of use sucks. Lack of hard buttons makes it unconvenient. Sometimes, when in rush, I still use my old Harmony 650. I rated it at four considering that in the near future I will adjust my routines to it. User update is necessary with this product.

  • from Cupids, NL

Don't Bother Buy This ... Shoddy Software Design

Well, simply put, this is an awful disappointment. Got it in the mail, all excited to see it. Plugged it in, computer installed software. Then went to get the Harmony app, and guess what? Didn't recognize the Remote. Didn't even give me the option to switch to that one from my previous Harmony 700. Needless to say, I'm disgusted and I've had to contact Logitech customer service ... as usual. Avoid the disappointment, don't bother purchase this overpriced paperweight. May well have to return this if the brilliant folks at Logitech don't hack it into functionality.

  • from Fort Nelson, BC

Great Remote.

Controls all my components (including Denon AVR receiver) and their functions. Online setup was a snap. Any activity now is a one button and all components needed turn on and switch to the correct Inputs. Love this remote.

All Geeks Need One

Harmony user pioneer right here. I have had a Harmony 880 for a number of years, which I loved, but with the constant use I have damaged a button which forced me to look into another remote. I ended up buying the Harmony Smart Key board with the smart hub. let me tell you, I took that piece of juke back to the store within 24 hours. It wouldn't work properly with my home theatre system. So I said what the heck, lets try the Ultimate One. I get home, open the box and a bright beam of lights burst into my eyes. This glowing new beauty is a work of art. I hook it to my computer and download the software and within 10 minutes I have my remote operating perfectly with all my gadgets. I admit, if you're new programming a harmony, it may be a bit much while adding the activities for different things to come on of turn off at certain points. but once you understand how it works, you'll love it. I especially love the favorite button. Easy access buttons that have the graphics of each channel which makes it that much more user friendly.
