Voice Prompts Too Loud

Product has good sound (if you want lots of bass) but the lack of controls is frustrating. How hard would it have been to have an equalizer as an app for your phone? 99% of the time you will be connecting bluetooth. Returning it today because my family can't tolerate the voice prompts. "powering on" "paired" at full volume. Wakes the whole house if i try to start it early in the morning. If you live on an acreage and are already a little deaf from playing your ear buds too loud then this is the device for you.

Love the sound. Voice prompts too loud!

I purchased it this week on special at BB. Awesome price. Loving the sound, as well as others at work whom I demoed the speaker to. 2 of them went straight to BB to purchase their own House of Riddim. That should tell you something about the value equation. The sound is great. I also own the Fugoo Style XL. I think the Marley plays louder with deeper bass. The Fuggo XL is smaller. The Marley is lovely with the wood finish. The Fugoo screams quality. One major critique, or two now: 1) the voice prompts, as others have noted, is ridiculously loud and you cannot turn them down or off. Comparatively speaking, with the fugoo you can turn down the voice prompts, or turn them off! + 1 for Fugoo. 2) Support from Fugoo has been good. Victor got back to me with my queries within one day. I contacted Marley with my question to find out how to turn off the voice prompts. No reply! So the support is non- existent to date. :( On its own, the Marley is great. So is the Fugoo. For parties, Marley all the way, but the Fugoo won't disappoint. I'll give the edge to Marley for sound quality, but the Fugoo is excellent too and has been a great speaker to listen to over the holidays. Reliability is unknown, but support is better from Fugoo...and what about those voice prompts from Marley: double :( So I have 30 days to return the Marley. The Fugoo is a bonafide keeper. Unless I hear from Marley, and I don't find a solution to the loud voice prompts, I may return the Marley. I'll miss the warm wood finish, but I cannot be blasting voice prompts at night when others are sleeping. Crazy, but true. The salvation for Marley: I'll keep it as a party speaker and use the Fugoo at home at nighttime.

I tested allot of speakers, JBL, Bose, Sony before purchasing the HOM Bag of Riddum 2. I have had this speaker for a month now, is the best speaker I have ever heard, period! So many friends and family have commented on the exceptional depth and sound quality and... it just looks cool too. Someone posted that it comes with a one year warranty, mine came with a two year warranty and it's states 2 year on the HOM website too. Not that I think I will need it but nice to know they have your back for two years. Thank House of Marley and Best Buy.

Great sound, horrible customer service

House of marley products have only 1 year warranty after that there are no repair facilities or replacement parts so when your device will not power on anymore they will do nothing for you. As well as not responding to customer complaint emails. I strongly suggest you purchase another brand product other than marley

Love this compact blue tooth speaker. Amazing base, good looks and clear sound.

Riddim 2

Wow, after listening to demo blue tooth speakers for about an hour at Best buy I was down to the JBL extreme when the sales person came out with the house of Marley riddim2. After about a 5 sec demo, I could tell this was by far the best sounding speaker, while it is not weather proof nor the lightest, I purchased it because of the sound, and now at home with a direct in source...Wow!

great speaker

awesome sounding speaker it sounds full and good bass. want to set one thing straight no you don't have to take the bag off to get to the charge port the bag has a small access hole for that. battery life is good just wish the speakers had a grill cover on it for protection. if you're looking for a good and loud sounding speaker and love bass give this one definitely a try.

Incredible Sound

This has got to be one of the Best purchases I have made in a long time. Full crisp sound with some really deep base. You will be amazed!!!

Excellent Speaker for its price, but ultimately unusable

O.k., first off, let me make this clear: I’m not giving this speaker only three stars because of its sound quality. As far as that’s concerned, for its price (especially since we were able to make off with this thing during a ridiculous special) this is a 4.5 sound quality speaker. It’s waaay more fun and clear than anything Bose puts out and wins hands down against any rival in its price range. As far as sound, the only issue is that the bass is soft and ridiculously boomy, but it does have it in SPADES. It’s way more powerful than any speaker it’s size should have the right to be, undoubtedly something its dual bass ports play a big role in. In spite of this overabundance of bass, its mids and highs remain clear and precise so that you can always enjoy what you are listening to to the fullest, whether that also includes voices, guitars, chimes or cymbals. So, you could say that the Bag of Riddim 2 is really the perfect kind of luggable speaker to get your party moving! And that’s what is so frustrating about it: this is a great speaker, but we had to return it because of the VOICE PROMPTS THAT SCREAM AT YOU THAT THE “UNIT IS ON!!!” “THE UNIT IS OFF!!!” “PAIRED!!!” “UNPAIRED!!!”. And I’m not kidding. Just before any of the prompts you can hear the unit set itself to maximum volume (based on the speaker hiss) and deliver the prompt so that all your neighbours know you’re getting ready to put on…some mellow jazz??? And there’s no way to disable the prompts or lower their volume. No, seriously, what was House of Marley THINKING? we have a 3 month old and I found myself activating and pairing the unit outside so as not to wake her. And ITS JANUARY!!! IN CANADA!!! (Can you hear those prompts, House of Marley?). Ultimately I returned the unit in favour of the Marley Get Together, which has loud, but not Earth-shattering chimes for prompts. The latter is also a good box, but it doesn’t deliver like its big brother (and only for the prompts is that a good thing).

Really good sound , but some major flaws

I bought this shortly after boxing day and I got a great deal . I also bought the other House of Marley Speaker Get Together . On sale , they were both about the same price. For pure sound , these speakers beat the get together speaker hands down. It's not even close . The specs say there is a speaker phone theres not . Small is great. Heavy is great for the bass that is outstanding sound. Charge port you have to remove from the bag. Simply stupid design. Simple to connect via bluetooth or 3.5mm jack. No way at all for the following unlike UEstate Booms. Marley no battery state.indicator. Marley no app for connection or customisation. Marley unable to stop it SHOUTING AT YOU WHEN IT'S TURNING AND OFF. YOU FALL ASLEEP THIS WILL AWAKE YOU. Great speaker sound will impress all. Better sound than UE boom2 and Megaboom but is rubbish for all the above. - charge port should be with bag on. - should come with instructions. - should be about to check charge. - should have an app.

Good speakers

I've had this speaker for about 2 months now and the sound is incredible, even when you blast the volume. I like the different attachments that comes with the ac power cord.

Great full sound WOW

This thing really puts out. Me and my two 20 year old sons were listening to it and it has full range. Better that the Marley Get Together. It according to them get house party loud. Cons is that the Bass can sound a bit too punchy but we were only useing streamed music so that might have played a part in it. It is awesome that something this small sounds so great. I mean it is not small but when you compare it to the speaker of the past I have to say wow.

OMG! The SOUND from this is 100% The sound, like the unit itself, is Pure, Clean, Smooth and Top Shelf! Pair it up with your bluetooth or use the Rocks. You Be Jammin'! My only prob with the unit is the battery. Leave it plugged in all night and it only lasts about 2 hours. THAT is a let down. But still......I'm Not disappointed.

Very happy.

The speaker was simple to connect with phone and tablets. It sounds fantastic and the battery life is excellent so far. This is the best bluetooth speaker that i have owned for sure.

  • from Oshawa, ON

Awesome Sound

This Bluetooth speaker is unreal, loud, clear sound.

  • from Calgary, AB

Sounds great, lots of power!

This thing sounds fantastic whether the volume quiet or loud. 2 x 20W = lots of volume. I'm really happy with this speaker. I was comparing it to the Soundlink Mini II or the UE boom 2 and this thing blows them out of the water.

Great outdoor speaker but annoying voice prompts

+The loudest portable speaker I've tested with maybe the lowest reaching bass as well (similar range to fugooxl & hkonyx studio 2) +Very detailed sound -incredibly annoying voice prompts that are at max vol even if you turn down speaker vol, can't be turned down at all

  • from Ajax

Amazing sound quality - awesome play time (over 8hr) - super light / the carrying bag is great plus - great quality
