Powerful Range

I purchased this to help boost my wifi signal in my large home. Super range, easy to setup and never gave me any issue; for several years that I have had this unit.

  • from Ontario

Best extender, but pricey

I've bought many extenders from every brand and they all drop the connection within 5-10 mins even connected right beside the router. With this extender, I have no problems with my connection dropping. I game and stream Netflix regularly with no problems at all. The only thing I dislike about this extender is the price, but it's worth it for me

Firmware update turned it into a brick

Worked well for 14 months then I was notified of a firmware update. Loaded the update and it bricked it. Searched online and found this is common. Would not recommend.

Gets Wifi Signal to Detached Garage

My router is located in the basement of my house, near the center of the floorplan. The signal was negligible/unusable in the detached garage 50 feet away from the house. I set up the extender in the window facing the garage. Here are my test results: Original Wifi in house: 18mbps Original Wifi in garage: Not usable Extended Wifi in garage (2.4gHz): 3-5mbps Extended Wifi in garage (5 gHz): 15mbps I'd return it if I needed 2.4gHz in the garage, but because my devices are 5gHz compatible, I'm satisfied with it.

Very pleased

I am using this as an Access Point. Description on the box says it cannot be used that way then the install software gives you the option - whoops! I got it installed but the set-up software was a little flaky, so I had to run it a couple of times. It dropped out once but has been stable the past few weeks.

Great product, pricey

I had a WN2000RPT prior and it gave me nothing but problems, always dropping connection. I decided to give this extender a try, and I don't regret my decision! It is a bit pricey compared to others, but it's Wireless AC, has great range, and five LAN ports and USB 3.0! Great product, especially when on sale!

5 months and its dying

The 2.4 GHZ dies .If i remove the power source and reconnect, the WiFi starts again, and then dissapears all over again. will have to see if i can give it back to best-buy and getting it repaired or rplaced.

Good extender but quality is not the best

Easy to set up and the coverage is good but the product I bought and returned could not light up the 5G band light although I could see the broadcasting of this band through my wifi devices.

Firmware updates killed 4 different extenders!

I was using 2 of these with a Nighthawk R7000 where I had the R7000 on the 2nd floor of my house, one extender on the main floor and one extender in the basement. Everything was working fine until I downloaded firmware for the extenders about 3-4 months after purchasing them and the extenders stopped working after the firmware update. There were no interruptions to the download and no logical explanation from Netgear, but they honored the warranty and sent me 2 replacements. Several months later, I was notified by another firmware update in the admin console for the extenders, so I reluctantly proceeded to update the firmware again and the same thing happened again. Only this time, my warranty had already run out. I have bought many different network equipment over the course of 20 odd years and while I know all the caveats around firmware updates, this is the first time that I have seen firmware updates completely render hardware that was once working fine completely non-functional. I am now hesitant to update the firmware on my R7000, but might do it anyways so that if it breaks the router, then I will have an excuse to go back to Linksys or Asus network equipment that was reliable for me in the past. BTW, not like this is different with any other hardware manufacturer, but the off shore tech support (presumably from India) were not much help and in my situation acted more as a glorified CSR to initiate fulfillment orders to replace equipment rather than actually troubleshoot and provide value to consumers. I have learned never to say never, but I will be avoiding Netgear equipment until I have a compelling reason to try again.

I bought a d link extender cause it was on sale. It sucked so bad I was gonna wait a few days and see if it would get better. Went on the Best Buy app and saw the net gear was on sale for [price]. I took the d link back and got the net gear. Man, that thing is perfect.

works great

I have a large ranch style home and my modem is in the basement. I was losing the wireless signal constantly. The extender was easy to set up and now I have excellent reception through the house while using multiple devices. Love it.

  • from Toronto, ON

Great AP, not so much as an extender.

Bought this to replace WAP610N. Set up was straight forward, put it in extender mode then proceed with constant drops. Couldn't figure out why even if it has line of sight with the source. After few tries, decided to use it as AP which is pretty good too. Everything was really simple to set up. All the basic networking options and some more. Overall pretty happy with the purchase. Would highly recommend if you need to cover dead spots and stream HD or higher quality over WIFI.

There is a Reason For the Great Reviews

Sweeeeeet! Replaced the Dlink 1320 with this baby and all I can say is wow! I tried PowerLine technology just prior to this and even that didn't come close to this extender. I located the Dual Band NetGear extender in the basement of my bungalow and and I get very close (sometimes higher) to full download speed anywhere in the house using Fastlane technology provided. The cheap little Dlink and PowerLine were a waste of time. If you are not getting at least 75% download speed, check your setup. I had to set mine up twice (from Fastlane setup, to dual band extending and back to Fastlane again - not sure why) and move a cordless phone away from router and modem. Once again, you get what you pay for. Listen to the reviews - they are there for a reason. You won't be disappointed.

Very good product

Overall a very good product, works as expected and all my needs, no any issue so far.

Very Easy To Install

This is a great extender that works very well. I have used a D-Link Extender in the past, but the Netgear is far superior. It is nice to finally have a strong WiFi signal throughout my 2 storey home.

Good product

I had an other model installed which kept disconnecting all the time.. but with this model connection is good and it give pretty high speed download.. I am very happy..

Overall a Very Good Product

I also purchased this product based on the positive reviews. It performs as expected and I now receive strong signals anywhere in our home. It has eliminated all signal strength issues. I had some difficulties setting it up but I believe they were caused by my modem. I was unable to get a wireless connection to access the setup wizard. I was able to connect via an Ethernet cable which then allowed me to perform the complete setup. From that point on my laptop, desk top & tablet all connect and receive a great signal. The only ongoing problem I am experiencing is that every few days I lose Wi-Fi connection to all devices. Again I believe the fault lies with my modem. It is a Bell 2wire which is about 6 years old. I solve the problem by unplugging the modem and then plug back in. Problem solved. I will be pursuing a newer modem. I highly recommend this product.

Flawless, and highly recommended

This unit was recommended by a ore associate, on his recommendation I bought it. Well after 3 full weeks he wasn't wrong, All I had to do was find where the best location for it, once that was done, it hasn't fail once or stop working, nothing, it really integrated itself well with my Rogers Internet service and all equipment I have hooked up to it. I use both the 5 Ghz and 2 Ghz bands, TVs, computers, iPad, IPhones, Sound system, printers, etc.. . Simple to hook up, instruction were simple and straight forward. P.S. The unit actually looks pretty sharp also.

Netgear ex6200

after reading the reviews, this one seemed to be the best. some people said they had issues setting it up.. The only problem I had was when I clicked "use exsisting password" it didnt seem to work. All i had to do was manually reset the password to what i already had it at. Other than that this product does exactly what it says. It extended my wifi at least by 50 ft.

NETGEAR AC1200 Wi-Fi Range Extender

Awesome range extender solved all my dead spots in the house and the basement area, it was so easy to set up I was using it in less than 5 min!!

  • from Burnaby, BC

Great WiFi Bridge/Switch + USB-3 File Server

Not much range benefit seen when paired my existing AC1200+ but FastLane this with a standard cable wifi modem and its a great product.

  • from Toronto, ON

worth it

it was definitely worth it i had a cheaper model before this and it was far inferior I recommend it !

  • from Hanover, ON

Great system

Product was delivered in a very timely manner. I had it out of the box, and set up and running in less than an hour. I installed it at our Church to extend our LAN a greater distance and through cement floors and ceilings

Surprisingly Great Extension of Network Range

After looking at several good reviews on Google about this extender I set it up in a buddies garage. It definitely outperformed my expectations. Easy to set up and I have to walk half a block away before my cell loses the wifi signal. Terrific product. It even out performs the next model up (EX7000) by about 30-40 feet.

I live in a 3700sqft home and thought using Linksys AC3200 would give me full access througout the house.. I was WRONG. I had wifi in my loft, kitchen, garage and in the master bedroom. I had no access in the basement or my backyard.. did some research and bought this range extender. set this badboy up and was I surprised.. I have wifi access in the basement, backyard and in my neighbours house.. My router supports both 2.4ghz and 5ghz.. set range extender up to support both. .full 5ghz in basement and backyard. Awesome product

it is the best extender i have used so far.

Works Well!

This wifi extender works as advertised. It's easy to setup, I found reading the instructions confusing so I just tried it without them and I got it setup in short order!

Netgear wiFi Extender EX6200

1. Great product 2. Poor set-up instructions: Was unable to set-up as per instructions. Needed ISP support to configure (as none the the set-up instructions worked). Looked online set-up, no one has updated the set-up instructions with firmware updates and what is this is not working 3. NetGear Help Desk - very poor - hours of operations do not work for people who do not live in AT time zones or have to go to work on weekdays. Contact Us, does not work, I am still waiting for someone to get back to me and it has been 10 days.

Had terrible or nonexistent internet in the basement. Now it is PERFECT. SO EASY to setup. Just PERFECT!

  • from Montréal, QC

Fabulous unit

Such a great device to extend WiFi network in homes or small offices in its price range, it could also be used as Access Point.

  • from Guelph, ON

great product, great range, fast, easy connection.

streaming is flawless compared to when i was running with just a wireless modem. now all of our wireless devices can connect to the internet with ease and nothing drops out. range and strength are great. i can bury a gaming pc in a corner where it did not work before and play online without any issues. i wish i got one sooner. this is a must have for any large home

  • from Peterborough, ON

So easy and fast

I needed to quickly and easy get better range from the piece of junk Bell 2-wire setup that we had. Setup was quick and easy. It could have been even easier if the Bell equipment was WPS equipped but it is not. We have far more range than I could have expected. Rock solid, 5 stars.

Best purchase I have made in a while!

I have significant dead spots in my basement and bedroom. After trying "plug in the wall" extenders with no luck, I purchased this one. I logged into it directly to set it up. It was very easy and fast. I then connected all of our peripherals to it in a "LAN" set up, and it worked amazingly!! Our signal in the basement went from 8 down/2 up, to 80 down/6 up!!! Just purchase another for the bedroom and had the same wonderful result. HIGHLY recommend this if you have dead spots in your home. 100% worth the hefty sum.

Best Extender So Far

I work in IT and I've had to deal with many extenders. I bought this one for my own private use so my neighbour could temporarily share my bandwidth. Set up was extremely easy - I did it all with my smartphone in a few minutes. It took longer for the device to boot up than it did to configure it. I also recommend installing the Netgear WiFi Analytics app as mentioned on the box. Range is the best I've seen. I put it in my garage attic and my neighbour, who is about 80-100 feet away is now getting a signal. This extender may cost more than others (which I've dealt with) but the ease of setup and the range it provides is more than worth it.

  • from Montreal, QC

Installation in 15 minutes. No need of similar power supply. No loss of speed. Big coverage. Works well with Videotron's devices.

  • from Toronto

Works well, easy to configure.

I don't have any cons to list. Met my expectations for my first range extender.

  • from Ottawa, ON

Extender Plus

Purchased this extender based on the excellent reviews and the very poor performance of my Bell Fibe Connecton Hub. Bell installed a rather old Co nnection Hub that could not reach 30' feet across my house. This extender is excellent, with great features and performance.

  • from Vancouver, BC

better than others but still range is not more than 15 meters in buildings.

  • from Scarborough, ON

Excellent XTender

This is well worth the extra internet is in the basement and was getting intermittent wifi three floors up...very inconsistent and couldnt watch videos whatsoever...Now, I get 5 bars upstairs, outside by the garage and outside in the backyard....Video streams completely and havent had any glitches in a month's use...Setup was a breeze and looks pretty snazzy as well.....Highly recommended!

  • from Toronto, ON

What a Nice Surprise

I had tried the two-piece variety of boosters and was totally unimpressed by the results.. Netgear`s product did the job superbly, immediately after the setup, which admittedly, could have been a tad easier to do. Nevertheless, this is one excellent piece of equipment to have, especially if your computer resides on a different level than the modem/router.
