Netgear Nighthawk x6 Wireless Ac3200

Got this unit like a month ago. Superior signal strength, cover the entire house. My house used to have 4 wifi to cover all the rooms, this unit replaced them all which is very good. The third smart wifi channel auto switch to zoom in your device to optimize the highest speed. On ipad 4 give me a speed from on end to the other at 300 MB per second. On my ipad 2 and 3 the speed is 65 MB per second. Overall, worth the money of [price], all my weaker wifi combined would have cost much more anyway. I had 1 for 180, 1 for 120, 2 for 80. So that 460 with the old technologies. Now this [price] with this blazing processor. Movie sharing on the harddrive connect to the wifi is streaming seamlessly. Try all 1080 movies, everything loading without a glitch. Ease of connection as well. Setup is very easy by PC or ipad. Lookup the app on Appstore one for free, the other is for like 10.99, not sure what the premium for. But happy with the free app. One minor, the holes to hang on the router on is up-side-down. So if you hang your wifi on the walls, all the text is upsidedown. Can't do it without drill extra holes on the box. Other than that, very happy with the purchase. Would recommend to anyone, worth the money...

Great, but where is one of the biggest part of parental control... scheduling?

I bought the Linksys ac2600 about a month ago and it did everything I wanted except generalized blocking ie. adult, youtube etc so I returned it and purchased this one. Little did I realize the headache of trying to get this to work. Yes, great signal and overall performance, but try to block youtube from 9-7... impossible. Purchased opendns, but cannot block my sons device overnight, there is no option to do so. Completely unsatisfied with the "parental controls" highlighted on the box, give me back the Linksys, at least I could time block...

Best bar non

This is by far the best router I've owned. To those having issues I'd suggest you look into other things, distance from your router, obstructions, setup, have you contacted Netgear for help etc. Like what router have you found that works for you, as you didn't memtion any others.

Worst POS save your money

The good: Really fast router and great coverage The bad: reliability! You're connected to its network but without internet connection. You'll be streaming movies from its DLNA network and the router would freeze and you'll have to reset it. The DLNA server chooses which files it wants to read and display. In a day you'll have to reset the router 4-5 times. I had a Netgear router back in the day of b/g and had similar issues of hanging and dropping signals. So it doesn't surprise me that they haven't fixed these issues yet.

Just as I expected

I read and read all reviews on all routers and was at one point considering the asus ac3200 but stuck with Netgear X6 because of stellar performance of the Netgear R6300 I have had for the past few years. I'm glad I did as I was up and running in less than 5 minutes and it has been perfect. I did consider the Netgear X8 also, but saw no advantage in my case to have the cadillac of routers. The prices are all over the board for the X6 router so shop around as I've seen a hundred and twenty five dollar difference on line and at stores. I did find one in my town which was a little higher in price but they offered to price match so I gladly purchased from them. Anyhow if you purchase this router you will be glad you did. Good luck and thanks for reading.

Network freeze

I purchased two of these units to replace my 2 older AC1900 routers. I run one in the basement as an access point and the main floor houses the main router. I am fairly experienced in networking and had always configured my own networks, so I was a bit disappointed that out of the box, the Internet was unavailable. Therefore, setup was not easily completed and support needed to contacted. Their support is very helpful, however, at times can be slow to get the items resolved. I've had these routers for almost 6 months and am still working with the support people on troubleshooting and firmware revisions to help improve the network drop or freezing problems. Devices on 5GHz networks seem to show being connected but cannot access the network or Internet without rebooting the device or the routers. I'm currently still working with the support team to effectively troubleshoot and correct the ongoing issue. Overall, functionality and speed when everything is working is good. However, needing to have 4 different network names in the house is a bit of a pain. I would've given a 5 out of 5, but they lose a star for value, as they are pricey, a star for performance on the network issue, and a star that they just aren't perfect right out of the box.

Awesome router but more grey hair

Just bought this router today while it was on sale. I have two smart tv's with android streaming devices, absolutely no buffering now and working perfect ( knock on wood! ) Very happy with my purchase...

Best router

Such an awesome ac3200 router!! Range is crazy good. Setup didn't take that long, just had to upgrade the firmware. All in all it's definitely worth the high price

All I can say is WOW! This is the best router I have ever used. It will handle multiple streams, gaming and downloading at the same time and not miss a beat. The wifi coverage is excellent. No need for expanders anymore. It is pricey, but if your house hold uses multiple devices, this is the one you need.

unmatched performance

Easy to set up. Had to do a firmware update on initial setup. Router has been rock solid. Both range and throughput are top tier. Highly recommended.

Good Value

I have had this router for almost 2 months and with the exception of the first time setup, everything has been excellent. It took the better part of the day to set up, required a hard reset before it would allow more than one device to attach. Customer Service was great, walked me through it and ensured that it did what I needed and wanted it to do. All in all I am happy with the purchase and would recommend to anyone looking for a better router.

I love Netgear , but man do I hate this router.

Did they test this model at all before releasing it ? 2.4 Ghz radio drops out several times a day. No amount of rebooting or reconfiguring has helped. I fix computers and networks day in and day out so am a very knowledgeable user. I sure hope they release some new firmware to address the flakiness of this unit. If they address the locking up and dropping out issues I will change my review to reflect it. As of now I had to unplug the unit, and go back to an old but trusted WNDR4000 I had in the closet.
