More Information

Big versatility

  • The AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70–300mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED boast a robust focal length range of 70-300mm (105-450mm DX equivalent), ideal for architecture, sports, or wildlife photography.
  • A nine-blade rounded diaphragm delivers a natural bokeh effect for the out-of-focus elements in your images.

Stay sharp and focused

  • Silent Wave Motor delivers precise, quiet, and fast autofocus, allowing you to hone in on your subject without a noisy focus motor scaring them off.
  • Internal focusing (IF) system maintains barrel length during focusing, an advantage when shooting close-ups.
  • Don't have a steady hand with the camera? Don't worry. The Vibration Reduction (VR) stabilization system makes your images come up sharper and clearer by automatically compensating for camera shake.
  • Get focusing as close as 1.5m across the entire focal range for amazing close-up photos.

Lightweight design

  • Compact zoom lens works with both FX and DX cameras, and features a lightweight design weighing just 745g. This well-balanced, walk-around lens is great for taking with you on trips around the world or across town.

NIKKOR optics

  • Two Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass elements minimize chromatic aberration, ensuring high contrast and razor-sharp clarity without annoying colour fringing.

My baby

I absolutely adore this lens! Sharp crisp images, excellent for portraits as well!

Great Lens

As a novice photographer, my opinion may be a little lacking but I love this lens. It takes crisp and sharp images that have true colour saturation. It's fantastic for even portrait photography if needed (Of course, you have stand 100 feet back! lol). But it will not disappoint!

next to the 50mm 1.8 lenses with Canon and Nikon, this lens is one of the best lenses you can get for your money. the auto focus is quick and the lens is sharp. it's a fantastic introductory telephoto lens for the price.

Awesome performance, but big and heavy.

I only use this lens if I know I will need the extra reach at events, otherwise my 18-105mm stays on my D5000 because the 70-300mm just about doubles the weight plus it is really bulky. That being said, when you want it to perform, it does. Autofocus is snappy, VR is very good, and build is excellent. I got this as a hedge for going full-frame or back to film someday, and the added weight, bulk, and price is more than made up by performance, build quality, and future/past compatibility over the DX 55-300mm.

I can't believe the quality of shots this lens gives me. It has opened up a whole new world of shooting for me. Very impressed with it and happy I bought it!

Gitty talking about it.

Wow, I've been taking some pics enthusiastically for just a little over 2 years now and never experienced a higher quality telephoto lens before. I purchased a D3100 and equiped that lens to its feather weight body. The light weight D3100 with this lens makes it really off balanced but I have to say with the high res quality of the cam with this lens its pretty incredible what you can achieve at far distances. Even at zoomed in distance and recroping tighter with a photo computer program it looks pretty flawless. Having said that, I'm not a professionnal so my guess would be that for a junior photographer like me it does more than the trick. Thumbs up !
