Outlander season 1 volume 2

This is the second half of season 1 of the series following Diana Gabeldon's book of the same name. It starts off with Jamies point of view in comparison to how Volume 1 started with Claires point of view. Aside from small deviations from the book, it follows the book remarkably well. Black Jack Randall is still after Jamie and Claire, and after Claire is captured by the british and imprisoned in the tower, Jamie is forced to rescue her and bring her safely back to Leoch so he can present her as his wife. The folk of Leoch are happy and celebrate but Laird Colum is not happy and informs the highlanders how unhappy he is they are collecting funds for the Jacobites. Jamie plays his cards well with Colum and informs him he is not a Stuart supporter. However Colum is not happy Jamie married a Sassenach! The plot thickens when we find out that Dougal was having an extra marital affair and Colum banishes Dougal along with Jamie for an indeterminate time. Meanwhile Claire and Geillis are charged and trialled with witchcraft. Jamie saves Claire and Claire tells Jamie the truth about herself being a time travelor. Jamie takes Claire back to the stones and she decides to stay with Jamie and they travel to Lallybroch. At Lallbroch Jamie runs into a traitor who tried to blackmail him. The Watch come and to Jamies disgust, find out his sister and brother in law are sharing food and board with them despite being outlaws. Ian, his brother inlaw confides to Jamie that with The Watch they know they will protect them as Ian can not protect his family or lands with him having a wooden leg. The traitor is killed and The Watch blackmails Jamie into going with them to be an Outlaw and assist in a staged robbery. The robbery goes amiss and Jamie is once more captured and imprisoned. Claire goes to find him and eventually finds he has been captured and tried and condemned to hang. Claire and the Highlanders rescue Jamie and take him to a safe house to recouperate. When Claire finds out what happened when he was imprisoned she is shocked and tries to help Jamie but Jamie must go on his own path of healing and the finale has both lovers travelling to France to start a new life.
