DO NOT BUY THIS TV!!!!

HEED THIS WARNING: I bought this TV in January 2017. It did not work from the moment I took it out of the box. It has a software compatibility issue with Netflix. And no it's not Netflix fault and no they can't fix it. I've called Netflix several times about the issue and there's nothing they can do depending on the Netflix rep. Dig this. Netflix is NOT ALLOWED by Philips to help you with anything more than adjust this, or turn it off and turn it on again. THAT'S IT! So I called Philips, and this is where it gets REALLY, REALLY UGLY! I called Philips and their call centre is in the Philippines and you can tell the reps first language is not English. If you speak to fast they don't understand you. I got a rep. who finally understood my frustration, first thing he said, "This has to be escalated to upper management as there is nothing I can do. This will take 3-5 DAYS! Someone will call you back." They never called, that was four weeks ago. Then after three days of calling straight, I finally got a representative who let it slip that Philips knew there was a software compatibility issue with Netflix when they designed the TV! That's right. I freaked. They said they would happily replace my TV. That was two weeks ago. All the they needed was a credit card number to secure the swap. Someone from upper management would call me in 3-5 days. I was so angry I tweeted Philips Customer Service and Best Buy. Philips didn't respond (big surprise). However Best Buy did. They were so helpful and tried their best but, at the end of the day, it's a manufacturer's issue and there's nothing they could really do. They never called. That was two weeks ago. So today, August 22, I called and I was told by yet another rep. that because I'm in Canada they can't do a swap. Now dig this. After speaking to FIVE representatives they could not figure out I was calling from Canada even though my phone number is a CANADIAN area code. *smacks palm to forehead* and they can only refund my TV. However that has to be approved by upper management (this is all very Orwell 1984) and would take another 3-5 days. This problem with the Netflix compatibility has been now been going on for SEVEN WEEKS with me calling their toll free line, speaking to a rep. who can barely understand English and being told it everything has to be approved by UPPER MANAGEMENT. I am ready to take this TV, walk it into the middle to an intersection, hold up a sign that reads, "DON'T BUY A PHILIPS TV! OR YOU WILL END UP DOING THIS!' And running over it with a bulldozer, several times! I had a TV that was 35 years old prior to buying this and it worked better than this TV. DO NOT! UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! BUY THIS TV!!!! I WOULD GIVE THIS TV AWAY FOR FREE BUT I DON'T WANT ANYONE TO BE BURDENED WITH THIS PAIN!!! If this review can stop one person from every reaching for the shelf which contains this nightmare in a box; it was worth the time typing this!!! DON'T WALK...RUN AWAY FROM THIS TV!

A TV made for the American market?

Delivery was good, arrived in good condition. It worked straight from the box, but sound was not great.picture OK on all channels. Unable to connect it to my internet provider by wireless. Unable to access built in services except for Netflix, which made me think that I could not use it as a Smart TV in Canada. I returned it to my nearest store and got a Samsung, served by a pleasant and knowledgeable staff

Poor Quality - Stay Awy

Bought the TV on Website and was shipped to house , Once set up could not adjust colours properly and had to re-enter Password every time I tried to access wifi such as Netflix or YouTube. Called Philips and helpdesk advised that I should contact my Internet provider as the issue was with the internet and not the TV, as I tried to explain to the agent that this was not the issue as my old Philips TV with a Roku unit and all my computers were working fine. I then called the GEEK squad and the advisor said that the wifi card in the TV is probably defective and take the TV back to a Best Buy store I returned the TV to the local store and received full credit but was not offered any upgrade options. Bought a Samsung elsewhere and works perfectly. I would not recommend this model of Philps Smart TV

horrible TV+ service

i purchased this TV for my mother, she lives in the middle of no where with not much around, we had this TV delivered to her house, box intact how ever when she opened the box, there was a huge broken gap in the back of the TV while contact best buy they did nothing but tell me to get my money back and go buy another TV somewhere else. no service from this company what so ever and as for this TV, other then the gap it worked fine, but who wants a broken TV?

Great value

I bought this for my kids as they need a new tv to watch their favorite Netflix shows. The Netflix and youtube shortcut buttons makes it easier for my kids to use the tv.

Remote doesn't work very well

I bought this TV on May 23rd 2016. Felt it was a pretty good and affordable smart TV. Sometime in July,I noticed the remote control wouldn't work until I'm like 4cm from the TV ( TV is on tv stand). Like i had to point it straight at the LED that indicates the Tv is on before its works. Pretty frustrating. Whats the essence of a remote if I practically have to get that close for it to work. Tried calling best buy about this but they never pick my calls.

Great base product. But missing features.

I bought this because of cost/value ratio. Works great. But is missing features that are promoted and that should not even be a region lock issue. Main missing feature (for me anyways.) is phone screencasting (Wireless Screencasting lets you mirror the screen of your smart device on the TV.) Don't know where it is and it should not be a country region locked (US to Canada.) Most apps are uninteresting to me. Other than the Major 2 (Netflix/Youtube.) Youtube doesn't have a cache. So if you decide to check what's going on at your hdmi source, it completely closes it. Netflix sort-of has a cache system. But, it's a basic stay on show but close the video caching. Also in the description it says: Three HDMI inputs allow you to connect your computer, Blu-ray play, and gaming console to the TV so you can enjoy all of you entertainment on the big screen. but in Specs, 2. You do only have 2. A good feature is weight. It's not heavy. but just enough to give you confidence that it won't just flop over.
