More Information

Realistic 4K picture

  • 4K Ultra HD resolution with industry-certified performance showcases picture in 4x the detail of Full HD. When you're watching a 4K travelogue about Costa Rica on YouTube, experience every vibrant shade of colourful detail as a tropical fish negotiates a lush coral habitat.
  • Pixel Plus Ultra HD picture processing technology brings out natural, realistic, and vivid-looking content. As the YouTube travelogue pans across a sandy Costa Rican beach shaded by lush green palm trees, you'll be swept away by the scene's realistic beauty.
  • Think you're limited to native 4K content? Think again. The TV's 4K upscaling engine boosts HD content to near-4K quality, so you can watch cable TV, your DVD collection, and more in better-than-you've-seen picture.

Smooth motion and vibrant colours

  • 120 Perfect Motion Rate boosts pixel response times to reduce blur in fast-motion scenes. Of course, you won't miss a moment of that slow-moving sloth climbing the tree, but when a rattlesnake flicks its tongue at lightning-fast speeds, you won't miss a moment of that either.
  • See the colours of Costa Rica leap off the screen thanks to a macro dimming LED backlight. From the vibrant green rainforests to the multi-coloured feathers of a parrot, you'll see dazzling colours, bright whites, and rich blacks.

Cinematic sound to match

  • Treat your ears to surround sound that matches the brilliant 4K picture. 20-watt RMS speakers pump out a serene song that accompanies the YouTube travelogue, adding cinematic atmosphere that makes you want to visit Costa Rica even more.
  • When the narrator speaks about the history of Costa Rica, you'll hear him distinctly thanks to the TV's clear voice designed by sonic emotion.
  • Dolby Digital Plus creates a cinematic atmosphere with up to 7.1 discrete channels of hi-fi surround sound. Connect your own home theatre speakers to feel like you're sitting in the middle of a movie theatre when spellbound by the wonders of Costa Rica.

Smart entertainment choices

  • Chromecast is a technology that lets you cast your favourite entertainment from your phone, tablet or laptop right to your TV or speakers. Easily control your TV or speakers with apps you already know and love from your iPhone, iPad, Android phone or tablet, Mac or Windows laptop, or Chromebook.

Connectivity for now and the future

  • Built-in dual-band 802.11ac wireless with MIMO antennas ensure when you stream video from your desktop, tablet, or online, you don't suffer lag. The only slowdown you will experience is in the form of astonishing slow motion shots.
  • HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2 on all HDMI ports means this TV is set for the future of 4K. HDMI 2.0 boosts bandwidth, while HDCP 2.2 creates a secure connection between your TV and home theatre component

Not made for North America

Picture quality and sound wise, It's a great TV. But, when setting up Google Cast on the system the TV won't connect to wired networks, it needs only wireless for Google Cast!! On wireless network, it won't connect even after trying 3 different routers. It connects to routers, but says could not connect to internet, reconnect me!! When linking thru iphone, it connects but TV never shows the code of connection. On iphone message comes, "This TV is not made for the country you are using in"? Even after multiple tries, could not setup Google Cast on this TV.

Basic 4K TV with few functions and an affordable price

This is an entry level 4K large screen TV, priced similarly to main Chinese competitor brands, but with a few extra functions. Firstly, this is in no way a Smart TV in the same sense as, for example, more expensive Sony TVs are. It really is a dumb TV with a few extra functions added on top. Starting with the remote, it is very basic and it really does not need to be any more complex since the TV does not have any particularly complex functions. The TV is quite fast to boot up, and the interface is not complex to use. The good - The Google Cast function is very easy to use and it basically extends the functionality of your smartphone by allowing it to stream the output of certain apps to the tv screen, such as YouTube, Netflix, CTV go and similar. These apps aren't preloaded on the TV set, they are loaded from the smartphone but the TV is responsive and the streaming of the apps and content is almost immediate. - The TV features integrated Wi-Fi connectivity but it can be used only through Google Cast since there is no other way to use it through TVs software. - The speakers on this TV are exceptionally good, especially in comparison to other flat screen TVs, as is usually the case with Philips brands. This TV can be used without external speakers and still maintain very satisfactory sound output. - The closed captions have plenty of customization options, such as font style, colour, background that can even be semi-transparent. The bad - The picture quality, in terms of contrast and brightness, is not very consistent throughout the various input signals. While on more expensive brands the picture contrast/brightness tends to remain somewhat constant regardless of the input source, on this TV it varies broadly. In my area I get about 25 OTA channels broadcast in various resolutions, and while on other TVs they all look about the same, except of course for resolution related blurriness, on this TV there is a notable difference. For example, 720p ATSC sources appear significantly darker than 1080i ATSC sources. - The picture displayed through HDMI devices, such as PlayStation 3, appears sharp. but somewhat saturated. Using HDMI link to control the PS3 does not work well, because every key press is interpreted as 2-3 presses by the PS3. This function actually works fine on a Sony TV. - The HDMI link will automatically turn on the PS3 when the relative HDMI input is selected. - This is a big negative: there is absolutely no TV or channel guide. Not even a basic one produced through gathering the broadcaster data. Not only that, but the TV does not even have a function that allows displaying such data. It seemingly automatically strips it and displays only the title of the show currently broadcast upon the channel selection. - The earlier models of Philips TVs did have this function. so it is not clear why it was removed. - There is no ATSC signal strength indicator. Again, this function used to be present on earlier models but it has been removed. - There is no way to manually add channels, the TV only has an auto-scan function which can be annoying in case of weaker signals that need to be fine tuned, or when an antenna is mounted on a rotator device. - Pressing the Channel Up or Down button repeatedly brings a list of channels that can be navigated and selected instead of actually changing the channel up and down. This function appears counter-intuitive and clumsy. Overall it is a basic device that can be a valid choice if you are looking for a large screen tv on a small budget.
