Works Great Hazeldean area Edmonton, Alberta

Bought one for my mom who moved to a new apartment that had no cable service. She gets 6 digital channels (she says better picture than her old Telus TV). CTV, CBC, Global, CityTV, French & Yes or Vision (cant remember which). Great deal 6 channels for free over airwaves.

TV broadcast for Victoria

I'm in Victoria BC and I am receiving 7 channel signals and I am getting 4 sharp clear HD channels, the other 3 wander a bit . Your TV must have a digital TV tuner to work with this digital antenna. tvfool.com and nocable.org are two web sites that can help you aim your antenna. NoCable.org says you can receive up to 6 HD channels in Victoria with a passive indoor antenna like this one, I'm getting 4 with the antenna in a south facing window. I'm getting weekly tv schedules for each station on line. Lots of adjustments on this Philips tuner 2 rabbit ears, the stand up centre rotates and the fine tuning knob. Shaw and Telus send a compressed signal over cable but the antenna receives an uncompressed 1080 higher quality signal. Antenna = free TV

It's not brand new

I picked up at the store after reserved it online. Opened it at my work place. So disappointed that the antenna was not brand new. There were lots of fingerprints and scratches at the bottom. I'n going to return it after work. p/s: haven't had chance to use it!

Good Antenna For The Price

I'm very satisfied with this antenna, especially for the price. If you can find one, pick it up. There are so many factors that affect reception like location, surrounding buildings, car traffic. It may just work for you. Often stabilizing a channel is just a matter of moving the antenna a bit or adjusting the rabbit ears or the selection knob (yes it really works).

Very satisfied

After reading all the reviews I wasn't sure what to expect when buying this antenna, but considering the cost I thought I would give it a try. I bought this for someone I know on a limited income and tested it out on my own tv first. Once I knew what I was doing it was very easy and I was able to pick up 7 channels . Had to switch the tv setting from cable to antenna and then search for digital channels. The picture was excellent. Then I brought it over to a friend's place who lives in an apartment building and he was able to get 8 channels, including Global which I was not able to get. Also got CBC, CTV, City TV, French CBC and a couple of others that I don't remember. Excellent value!

Good value for the price!

Easy to set up. I live in Ottawa South East and I am able to get 9 channels. CBOT, Global, CBOFT, CJOH, OMNI1, OMNI2, TVO, CTS, CHRO. I live in a townhouse and the TV is on the ground floor. I had to put the antenna up higher than the TV to get these channels. When I had the antenna level with the TV I was only able to get 3 channels. Great value for the price!

Wow, I cannot believe the Quality

I read the reviews for Montreal before going to pick this up. I figured I would be lucky if I could access the French stations. Easy to program and it picked up the 9 channels that I wanted to access. Global Mtl, CTV, City, CBC, TVA, V, TeleQC and the picture looks better than when I had cable. I live in Greenfield Park on the South Shore of Montreal in a house. The antenna is on my dresser, ears pointing to the window. I should have invested sooner.

Cutting cable for good

This box picks up roughly 10 basic channels in HD. The clarity is unreal. All we need to do is switch to Tecksavvy internet and our cable/internet bill will be reduced to a fraction of the cost.

I'm living near the downtown and I can get 10 hdtv channels by using this antenna. Wonderful. It is really worthy.

Great Buy

Bought this antenna today after seeing all the reviews. I got 25 channels including some from Buffalo. Am on 28th floor of a condo building in Mississauga, so getting great reception.

It really really works !!

I live in downtown Toronto, facing north. Across the street are more higher buildings. No direct line of sight to the CN Tower. I had my doubts this would work. Out of the box, with no fiddling, I get CTV, CBC, CityTV, Global and CBLFT. Bu-Bye Rogers !!

Not for everyone

Seems that reading these reviews, either an antenna works or doesn't based on location and surrounding buildings. In my case, this product didn't seem to work. Maybe if I was living in a different place. So, for the price, you might want to try it, as if you are using this in the appropriate environment, this might be sufficient. But it appears that in general, antennae are limited.

Please stop selling this

DEAR BEST BUY: Please stop selling this, unless you want more angry customers. It would be irresponsible of you to sell this. I usually look at your website first before I buy any electronics product. This product has been one of the most disappointing products I tried. It is not that it doesn't work, but it is infuriating that it "promises" to do something, when it is completely ineffectual. I look to you Best Buy for decent electronic products at a competitive price (thank you). This product is making me so bitter that it is affecting my trust in your company for selling it

Poor Reception

Only managed to get 5 stations and three of them were troublesome. I live in Ottawa, south end in a townhouse. Total waste for me. Will be returning it.

HOW TO GET IT TO WORK!. Good Value for the price.

I've spent time buying and returning multiple antennas. I've tried them out in houses and condos and this is by no means the best antenna on the market. That being said it's 20 dollars! I've read a lot of the reviews for antennas and here are some simple points. If you don't live in a big city, don't put your antenna near a window or have it completely obstructed it won't work. Try running your scan a few times in different locations to see what channels you can ideally pic up. Your antenna will work way better the higher you are. But height isn't all that matters. For example if you're south facing in Toronto you'll get way more stations and if you're closer to the lake you'll also likely get more stations from the US. I tried this antenna on the 12th floor of my building and got 33 channels I get about 20 on the 5th floor from Midtown Toronto. You should also fiddle with the cord. Yes it's annoying but it makes a difference. Also try placing parts of the antenna and the wire against metal on your window frames. This all seems to boost the signal. My final thought is walk away to the area you'll actually be viewing from I'm not going to get technical but your body may change the signal when you're standing over the antenna. In short this antenna works... are there better ones out there definitely but they're not 20 bucks.

Nice price, works well enough.

Downtown Calgary (Beltline) getting 4 channels (CTV, CBC, City TV and YesTV), which is all we need to get for my wife to enjoy the news in the evening. Cheap and cheerful.

Works great

When I went to buy them I was sceptical. When I hooked them up at first they didn't work at all. Then I took a few minutes. Changed my input to antenna from cable. Then did an auto channel search and then wow the picture was excellent. I bought 3 the first install took 30 minutes. The rest only took 5 minutes. I do get some interference if there is a storm. But otherwise it is just as good as cable. Don't let the low price fool you. There are great.

Does the job fairly well

Not bad. Build quality could be better and the included documentation is terrible. Works OK after dome tinkering and fine tuning. OTA Channel signal is sometimes there, sometimes not. Annoying but this is likely not the fault of the antenna

No reception whatsoever. After many attempts, I managed to get audio from what seemed to be a radio station, but no video other than a polar bear in a snow storm.

East end Toronto, I pick up 25 channels minimum, ctv, cbc, cbc french, global, city, nbc abc, cbs, 2 pbs channels, ch.11 Hamilton, star tv Toronto, ctv 2 barrie, lots of the american channels, etc Very pleased and no more rogers or bell for tv.. This antenna works very well for me.

Great value for money

Can't go wrong for [price] bucks. Get 10 channels at my apartment in downtown Toronto and 18 out on Scarborough. Take some time to experiment and keep using the channel scan on your tv. Could maybe do better with another antenna, but this works well for watching news, hockey and network shows

Good price, but very limited channel selection

North York Toronto. I am able to get a couple of channels, but its some tinkering is required. Some people suggested tinfoil to amplify the signal.

Not bad for the price

I'm in downtown Winnipeg and can pick up a french cbc channel, cbc, and global in hd. Hoped to get ctv as well but I seem to be out of range. Easy setup, played around with tuning knob a bit to get a clear signal. Global glitches sometimes but CBC comes in clearly. I'd recommend if you're in a city and close to the towers. You can check tvfool.com to see what channels are in range of your address.

works!

i live in verdun qc. my tvis approx 9 feet from south window. i hung it above tv on wall. i get global cbc and ctv in hd. its all i need. bye bye cable bill. the antennae are not even extended. i'd give it a 5 if it was just a bit more decorative.

Only 3 channels received

I only received 3 channels when I set up this antenna. CBC, TVO, and one french channel. For the price you pay it's not bad but I would recommend spending a little more money and getting an antenna that has better range.

Works great.

Had to setup the TV for the antenna, which was tricky. But once that auto scanned for channels I got five right away, did it again and picked up the sixth. Sometimes you need to turn the knob to get all the channels, but that is so much better than moving the rabbit ears. May consider an analog tuner box with usb for recording favorite shows to an external hard drive or flash drives. True basic TV for free.

Great antenna for the price

Get 5 channels all in HD that is as good if not better than cable. Can get a sixth channel if I play with it. Very happy with this as it provides all the channels I needs. Cut the Shaw bill in half as all I have now is Internet.

  • from Sarnia, ON

Can't even get it connected

Screwed it in but "no information". The most difficult task is always turning the thing on. Plus our smart tv has no options called Antenna. Plus we live in Sarnia, so maybe there is nobody even broadcasting a signal within the 20 mile limit for our URBAN antenna to pick up anyway!

  • from Cambridge, ON

Good enough

When I plugged the antenna directly to the tv I got, technically, 1 channel - Global in HD and SD. *But* when I connected the antenna to a coax cable by joining the two with a coax coupler I got 3 additional channels. The antenna is positioned in the east side near a window. The channels that come in are clear whether the "rabbit ears" are up or down and so goes with the middle panel; it doesn't make a difference I just keep them folded down and out of the way.

Well worth the $20

I am very pleased with the product. Very easy set up. I can get CBC, Global, CTV ,CTV Two, CityTV crystal clear. I tried to set it up on the opposite sides of the house. One side wasn't as good as the other side. It all depends where you are located. I looked at tvfool.com to see what channels are available in the area. Best money I've spent.

Just as good as the expensive models

I tried an expensive version first -- got just as many channels with this one. Very happy with it. It took a few minutes for my TV to find all the channels, and I get more if it sits in the window as opposed to the middle of the room - but works great!

Great antenna

I bought it because of the review that I saw. I really like how clear the images are. I went to menu and selected Air because my TV doesn't show antenna from the menu. First, I got only 4 channels then I downloaded again I got now 10 channels in total. I recommend it to my sister she bought one too. It's very impressive clear than my previous TV cable. I think, I still can get more channels if I change the position of the antenna

  • from Winnipeg, MB

Worked great for me

Advice on the internet says that your particular situation strongly affects the effectiveness of HD antennas. That being said... This unamplified antenna slightly outperformed a much more expensive amplified antenna in a side-by-side comparison. It took a little tweaking (less than 5 minutes) but I was very happy with the results.

Great product for the price!

I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered this.. but so pleasantly surprised that I was able to pick up so many channels. ( ctv, ctv2, global, cbc, chch, city and a few others) It's so easy to install.. there was nothing to it.. and for the price.. you can't go wrong!

Good value

Bought this antenna yesterday. Easy installation. Received 8 clear channels (I'm in Vaughan). I don't know what other antennas will do better, but it is good value for this one.

  • from Mississauga, ON

good for the money

I bought two antenna's - this one and the RCA CANT1400 to test both out. The Philips antenna will take a lot more playing around with the antenna location and antenna positions than the RCA CANT1400 so you will have to spend a lot of time scanning to just to find a good position. I am able to get around 15 channels with the Philips but what I did first was scan with the RCA CANT1400 and then hook up the Philips one and move it around until all channels were working. This allows you to find the right position for the Philips much faster because the channels are already scanned in your tuner/TV. I get CBC, Global, TVO, CityTV, Bounce, CHCH, and 3-4 more. Amazing value nonetheless

Good Antenna for a reasonable price

I got a fancy antenna with amplifier, but It receives only 5 channels. I returned the expensive antenna and got this one which receives 12 channels including CTV, Global, and City. I think the fine tuner feature installed on this one helps to tune it based on your location.

Works better than more expensive ones

I bought this today and the more expensive Philips flat one. This one picked up all the channels inside an office in my home in SW Edmonton. The flat Philips one with signal booster did not pick up the 2 VHF stations in the area (CTV, Global). Highly recommend!
