Does not work with GOOGLE home!!!!

Shame on you amazon! yopu took a good product and destroyed it. Returned for a Nest one compatible with google. This petty war between you and google needs to end.

Doesn't work in cold (i.e., Canadian) climates

Worked like a charm for two months; relatively easy to install, get videos, etc. I thought it was great so I bought an annual plan to save videos. Then in January when it got slightly below freezing it stopped working. I tried the troubleshooting advice they have online but it didn't produce the same results (they said to press a button on the side and the light would come on and it didn't; also it tried to connect to non-existent network). Twice I tried their "customer service" online chat and each time they gave me a whole list of questions to answer, without even considering the problem I described. They wanted to know lots of things that previously didn't matter, like the make and model of my 35-year-old doorbell chime, and find a transformer somewhere in the house. I couldn't find it anywhere, but since it worked before it shouldn't make a difference. The second one made me take pictures of everything for some reason. Then when I was away from my computer to look (again) for the transformer, she closed the chat. She said we could continue on email but she didn't. I finally came to realize that they just make you jump through these hoops so you won't bother them. On their website now, because of the polar vortex, they have a notice that cold weather can affect their products, even the doorbell pro that doesn't run on a battery. I paid extra for the pro version because it didn't run on batteries. And there's only a 30 day warrantee so now I'm stuck with it. Look at the other reviews - it seems to happen a lot. These shouldn't be sold in Canada because our climate isn't right for this.

Failed in less than 2 years with no support from manufacturer

My Ring Doorbell Pro button was stuck in the pressed position causing the unit to ceased working. When I called the company they refused to replace or repair the unit citing its out of warranty and buy another one. I question the reliability and the commitment to customer support from Ring and I will not advise people to buy their overpriced and poor quality products.

Works Awesome!

Skeptical at 1st (left it sealed in box for a week until I did full research) on install (watched vids & dloaded instructions & read all) & read all reviews Pros & Cons... Super easy to install, app tools check everything inc wifi strength... had 3 perfect missed calls: UPS & canada post arrived, i was not home, i answered & spoke to them! Bro in law came over early! told him i'm on the way 5min out! Pro model has custom defined trigger areas, others don't! I cropped sidewalk out but left walkway included... ignores dog walkers now!

Unwise investment

This Ring doorbell pro illuminates 4 inches from camera for night vision. Frequently disconnects from wifi. After the trial period you need a subscription for video backup.Would be wiser to buy a good quality motion sensing camera with memory card local video storage and remote motion notification.Would not buy this device again.

I think Ring Wi-Fi video would be perfect for me. I live in a condo/townhouse by myself There is no screen door - only the main door. When I open it for someone, I have no protection in case I might need it.

Excellent

I have not had any issues with installation and operation of this product (rvdbp). I have also lend my technical expertise at installing this product at my parents place and my brother in law's place and all 3 installations went smoothly. All 3 installations have been running perfectly since installed 3+ months ago. Only thing I had to do extra on my side was to ensure the best wifi signal could reach the doorbell, as in some cases I have had to reposition my wap to achieve that. The high quality video sent out from this tiny device, definitely requires the best wifi signal possible and ring helps out with various tools to ensure quality wifi signal is received. Overall packaging and all things provided in package felt very welcoming and customer focussed, so I had a good vibe throughout. It gives the impression that it can be counted on, and thus far it has not failed in this regard. I only wish that they had at least a 24 window of free basic cloud recording offered. It was weird that as soon as the trial ended, I could no longer view the alerted events. I have ended up subscribing to their protect plan, which is decently priced for now (and hence no points deducted on that account), but a limited free cloud would have made the offering a lot better and hit competition out of the park in my opinion.

Designed to fail in under 2 years

This product contains an internal rechargeable battery that is not designed to be replaceable. It uses the battery to keep the unit running while the interior doorbell chime is ringing. Because of the temperatures the unit is exposed to outdoors, it is constantly kept at full charge (not good for lithium batteries) and just the fact that rechargeable batteries have a limited lifespan this product will likely fail. Your symptoms of this failure will be the camera reboots when someone presses the button and your internal bell will likely only ring weakly (mechanical) or for a short period of time (digital) until it doesn't have enough power to even get a partial ring and your camera simply reboots at the moment it tries to initiate the internal doorbell. If you disable the doorbell kit setting it might keep working, but the eventual total failure of the internal battery is likely to cause further issues over time. When I contacted Ring customer support they would not replace the unit as it's over 1 year since purchase. Also they say they will not offer me a discount to replace it, or any repair service. In my opinion this is a product that has a serious design flaw. Ring/Amazon, please fix the flaws in the hardware and offer free repairs to anyone who experiences these issues.

I am totally disappointed

This door bell app is useless. I am on vacation out of the country and attemting to connect to view who is at the door or the live view/ history. Simply does not connect. I have nany other branded smart devices and all of the connect in a breeze,but RING door bell pro simply cant connect. So what is the point having a security device like this? I regret buying and is a total waste of money.

Night time motion does NOT work

Setup was straightforward and daytime motion works fine, but does not work at night, which is when you'd expect a real incident would occur. Too many false alarms at night and motion sensor does not even initiate if someone is within 2 feet of the doorbell. Customer support although responsive, do not have answers. Overall not pleased with my purchase and wish I had returned it within the 30 day period.

Okay but does not work in Cold Climates

The system is never able to answer when the Doorbell rings, it just sits and spins no matter the device or connection. The Doorbell starts to lose functionality at temps lower than - 5 to - 10 Celsius. Ring products are not made for cold climates like much of Canada.

disappointing

I have recently installed a ring doorbell pro and here are my findings pros- easy to install, if you have an existing wired doorbell cons- too much lag for app to start when motion detected or someone rings the bell often live view would not launch often I received the alert long after person has come and gone only way to have the access to video recording is to have the subscription....there should be a free option , but there is not... IF Ring is to improve, they must improve the app, and offer a free video recording of some sort I will be waiting for reviews and nest hello doorbell which is coming out soon and if more favourable, I might switch it.

Ring Wi-Fi Video Doorbell Pro Review

Recently purchased a RING Doorbell Pro. This was prompted by our inability to hear our door bell ring while in the rec room. Contrary to some of the posted reviews, I found the installation to be quite easy, with the entire process taking less than 30 minutes. Prior to installing the device, using a volt meter, I tested the supplied voltage at the door bell transformer and found it to be around 19 volts which was well within the range. After confirming this, I proceeded with the installation. All went well, but after completing the configuration of the device with my Wi-Fi router, it was apparent that the signal strength was in the "Poor" range. This prompted me to purchase a Wi-Fi extender (TRENDnet TEW-737HRE) from Best Buy (see my posted review). The Wi-Fi extender solved the signal strength problem relating to the RING Pro and the range is now categorized as "GOOD". The audio and video now emanating from the RING Pro has immensely improved due to the increased Wi-Fi signal strength. Quite happy with the RING Wi-Fi Video Doorbell Pro!

Impossible to do the setup

Contact support. Could not help. Waiting for a replacement form the Ring. It is my fifth Ring Product, I had trouble with 4 of them. First level support at Ring are not efficient solving problem at all. It take hours, several calls and email follow ups. Hope better product will come on the market. This one is not a good product.

Be aware!!

Bought the Ring Pro yesterday from best buy and installed the unit. It comes with a power kit that needs to be installed in your chimes. Ring claims it is there to ensure there is enough power reaching the unit. Upon installing everything, I noticed I had no power to the doorbell. No power means even the push button will not work. After extensive reading. I found some interesting information. According to Ring, if your install uses an existing chime, you need a 16Volts / 30 VA transformer (minimum). Mine was a 16V/ 15VA. Many people also reported that the unit would not power on right away but rather up to 24 hours later. I left the power on mine and sure enough, it took almost 20 hours to have power to the unit. I also replaced my transformer even if I had power and I can confirm that the unit is now working perfectly. Note that the voltage between 16-24 Volt is very important but the VA rating of the transformer is also very important. This will dictate how much current will be flowing in your doorbell circuit. This unit does not have a battery (as far as I know) but must have some type of energy storing device in order to power up after such a long period. The bottom line is, if you have no power to start with, give it some time...a lot of time...before starting to panic. Good Luck!! You'll need it with this unit. If your install goes smoothly, consider yourself lucky!

disappointed

I was really looking forward to installing this doorbell - installation appeared super easy, but after following all steps as instructed the bell will not power on. The subsequent 3 calls to ring support, each for over 40 min, with trouble shooting and clicking pics of each setup, the bell still won’t power on even after changing my transformer to 24v. This appears to be a common problem from feedback and reviews on several online forums.

Good product but not good for me

I bought one last Wednesday and returned it. The features of this product all worked as expected but I did not get good use experiences on it. There are the Pros. and Cons. for this product: Pro: - Easy to install. It only take me ten minutes to install and remove the product. - Use the door bell power. It don't need extra wire if you already had a traditional door bell. - Power pack fits in the in-house chimer box of door bell. Battary can work under better condition than out-door. - Live view function - Wide view angle. Con: - Need to pay fees for online recording. - Do not have space for wiring components behind the Doorbell Pro. - Delayed door bell chiming. Can not re-chime it in a short time. - Live views were often failed to launch. - Motion recordings were sometimes failed. - Video quality was not very good. Con

Great product :)

Love this device! The hardest part of the installation was finding the breaker that powered the doorbell. Works fantastic. And the fee for cloud storage was very reasonable (only 30 USD per year).

Ring Video DoorBell Pro

I'm giving Ring Doorbell a 2 based on what I went through on trying to get it installed. To install the device it cost a few hundred dollars over a 3 day period for an electrician to assist. I had a 16 volt transformer but it wasn't enough so I ended up having to install a 24 volt. During this work, it also caused my melody door bell to malfunction and I had to finally get a new doorbell. For two days my electrician helped with the install and we worked with online Ring support. We answered all their questions and had to send them pictures of the wiring etc., but still Ring would not connect. Finally Ring support determined maybe the Ring unit was defective. I returned the Ring Doorbell Pro and got a replacement. On the 3rd day with my electrician we installed the new doorbell, replaced the 24 volt transformer that fried during the first installation and installed the replacement unit which we believe was from the defective unit -- finally we got it to connect and working. So far the product is working once I got the set up complete Best Buy was great about taking back the defective unit (and I also showed then all the correspondence I had with Ring Support with them finally recommending we return the item as it was probably defective). According to the Ring instructions, it should have been a simple install -- about 60 minutes! Ring Bell instructions should be more clear that a 16 volt transformer is not enough -- while on the phone with Ring support they indicated it must be higher (16-24). Also having a defective unit compounded the problems with the install.

i bought it 2 month ago , working so good easily installed no professionals are needed. but if your wi fi is not strong don't bother your self to buy any of these product. till now no problems with the product . just be sure when to install the wires in the door bell box dont make it touch the metal , it will not work properly ( it was shown in its instruction) i recommend it to every one.

How expensive is Cloud Storage?

Is there a monthly charge/fee for Cloud storage of the videos recorded by the Ring Doorbell? Some competitor models allow for recording of pictures and video for free, which can be easily downloaded to your computer hard drive. Will Ring permit this?

dont use best buy

I would love to do the review if and when you figure out what you are doing. So far I have had a tech come out and draft up what I need in detail. He sent it to the store. I discussed in detail with the store. I purchased the item and you were to install it per your specs. I waited. I drove down from the cottage for the installation. You showed up and guess what? He couldn't install it and told me to buy the other one that your tech said wouldn't work for me. You sent the wrong guy?!?! Not his fault. He told the store to call me to discuss. Guess what? No call. So after over a month and numerous discussions, I now have to go back to the store and find a manager who can sort out what you are to do now. Think it is time to cancel what I have with Best Buy and go elsewhere. Hope you enjoyed the review.

Important APN needs to be IPV4 not IPV5 or IPV4/IPV5

I love my ring doorbell. Works well. Common issue I'm reading and ring support isn't aware. People saying they can't connect on their LTE network. You need to set up your APN through mobile networks, access point name - APN protocol to IPV4 I order for it to work without wifi. Good luck!

Great so far!

After reading a few reviews and buying a "volt meter" to check our doorbell transformer, we went ahead and switched out the 12V for a 16V. The old transformer was only putting out 10V and the new one is actually putting out 20V. Installing the doorbell, and setting it up with the app all went well! So far, it's working as it should and the picture clarity is very good! We love the product and it's features!

a couple of quirks, but works great

Spent half a day installing the first one I bought. The wires in my existing chime were labeled "0 1 2 3" instead of what the instructions showed (which is no fault of the product...we had an older chime...) After hooking it up and connecting it to my wifi, the device health showed poor voltage and poor wifi and then started dropping offline. I had to upgrade the 10V transformer to a 16V one to give the device enough power. After that it wouldn't connect to my wifi at all. Then it would intermittently connect, and drop. After a bunch more troubleshooting, the Ring tech I was chatting with came to the conclusion it must be defective. The extreme annoyance came from the device as it kept saying: "the ring doorbell is attempting to re-connect to your wifi, this will take a moment. Rome wasn't built in a day!" Listened to that for about an hour while I tried various things like moving my router closer to the front door, bypassing the wiring in my chime, using different devices. Eventually I reach the end of sanity because it wouldn't shut up and gave up. I swapped it for another one and had the new one installed and running within 5 minutes. It works flawlessly. Great view, and setting up motion zones is simple and effective. My chime buzzes now so I re-wired it to bypass my chime since the one I have isn't designed to handle the extra voltage. I'll probably get the Ring plug-in chime as well, but this device is great, their support was fantastic as well.

Check your transformer first

Before purchasing, check the transformer on your doorbell. I thought I could get by with a 16V 10VA transformer, but it is absolute bare minimum. Since the doorbell is also driving the mechanical ringer, performance was slow and it would often lose connection. Changed the transformer to a 24V 40VA and it's been running perfect since. For those moving away from their Vivint contract, know that Ring has a few short comings compared to the Vivint doorbell. 1) There is no distinction between the ring tone for movement detected and door bell ring. Just by sound, you can't tell what is happening. And on Android, you can't customize the ring tone. It uses your default ring tone so even with just the sound, you have no idea that someone rang your doorbell. 2) The notification on Android does not show a photo from the doorbell like Vivint does. You can't have a quick glance at who is at your door right from the notification. You're forced to open the app, wait for the connection, click to live view, etc, etc. Way too long just to see who is at the door. 3) The Ring doorbell has a monthly fee for recording. It's optional and it's $30/year, but it won't record anything without it. It comes with a 30 days free trial.

Not working on 4G/LTE

Installation was easy, instructions came in French only for some reason. Works fine on Wi Fi but not at all on LTE/4G network.It shows your phone can't connect to your Ring, if I switch to 3 G works fine. I am with Telus Canada, using Pixel XL phone, doesn't work on Samsung S6 and 7 as well. Ring support put the blame on my phone. Good product overall but will be returning it because of the connection issues.

Like it a lot ...

I do like this a lot and its easy to use. video quality is great if you manage to aim it away from the wall. If your unit is in the corner the IR light will cause underexposure as the wall lights up in the view. They started offering corner units but impossible to find and 3 pieces of plastic wedges shipped cost 1/6 of the door bell. I rather have those included and only gripe I have. The software is great and took me a while to realize that the french only manual is there because the app has the walk through instructions in English. I just wish the app had a badge indicating how many events I have unchecked

Poor Video Quality

I was very excited to get this unit up and running and after I got it installed and configured, all was going well. Three days later and I had about a dozen motion and ring activation's and and some live views, all was great. I was happy with the performance and quality of the video. I could easily see who it was and make the details out on everything. Now on day 4 the unit didn't pick up a motion detection. I got a notification but when viewing the video, there was no action. So I went outside to inspect and then I got another motion alert which was caused by me. I viewed the video from my phone and again there was no action. So i did a live view and notice that the video was frozen. Explains why there was no action as the frame was frozen in place. I could here the sounds and my voice that was recorded but no video. So after some testing, resetting, opening ports and all sorts of router configuration to no avail, I contacted Ring Customer Support. They agreed that my wi-fi had good signal strength but said that my upload speed on my plan must be too slow or it's bogged down with other devices. My plan has a 150 MBPS download and a 15 MBPS upload and the Ring Pro requires only 2 MBPS upload. so This tell me that my plan surely has more than enough. My router is less than 20 feet away as well. Its a very high end ASUS gaming router. I get wifi signal 3 houses away. I also ran speed tests which all were above 2 MBPS and the traffic analyzer showed that I was using only 0.04 MBPS total upload so my bandwidth was not bogged down. No matter what I have done, nothing makes this video recognizable now. My power supply is 20 Volts which meets the minimum 16 Volts required. The wiring is fine too. I'll now have to return this unit and a refund not an exchange. I don't trust this product anymore and will not waste more of my time on such low quality products.

WARNING!! Read this before buying.

This unit will not work with low voltage transformers. Most door bells with standard bell button and chimes are typically low voltage. I got pinched on this because no where on the outside packaging does it state that it must be used on 16-24 volt transformers. Only when I purchased this, brought it home and opened the package to find that it comes with french instructions and a warning label stating to be used only with 16-24 volt transformers. The product may work fine but I was not able to use it. The low rating is based off of poor packaging and information.

Good product but still some kinks to work out

Purchased the Ring Pro two weeks ago and so far it's been great. It was easy to install and works well enough, however we have a covered porch and if it's overcast it doesn't turn off the night vision mode during the day. Really that just means it's always in black and white, but still working through the issue with support so won't pass judgement yet.

quality issues - a big disappointment

purchased this unit because of the great features and installed it unit was defective out of the box as determined by the 40 minutes spent with the online help chat where I tested voltages, rewired for 16v and 24v settings, tried resets, powered down and repowered and still could not get it to work now this was after spending 40 minutes on my own trying to get the wifi signal from the unit and trying to see what I had done wrong with the installation and learning about a side button which was not accessible from my installation (not explained in the instructions) a real let down as the chat reps (2) did not seem surprised about the quality failure and told me to exchange it at bestbuy - after thinking this through further I felt like this is just wasting my time if they do not adequately quality check before the units are ready for sale - to me this is a big issue because installation requires removing the old doorbell button, making new holes for the large unit which are now visible since reinstalling my original doorbell from my point of view after wasting over 2 hours on this installation not including a new trip to the store - offering nothing more than an exchange just doesn't cut it I do not recommend this unit and did not exchange it but rather returned it and will fix up the little messes where I had mounted the ring unit later because installation day was -4C

Ring Pro in Canada

I bought one from BestBuy Canada for Christmas on sale. When it arrived I could not get it to talk to me during set up. Called Customer service department and they talked me through several options with no luck. They then suggested I upgrade my transformer to 16 volts which I did. Still no luck. The girl on the phone then suggested a replacement unit. The replacement came and actually looked like a newer version. It worked like it was suppose to and has worked properly now for two days. This is pretty cool.

Pretty good - but not perfect

I bought two of the RIng Video Doorbell Pro units for my home. I have ordinary doorbell buttons on my front and back doors and I wanted to video monitor both doors for motion and doorbell events. The units are very nicely packaged and the included documentation is very good. The units themselves are well-made with good attention to detail. For example, the 4 different external covers to accommodate siding of different colors is a nice touch. As per the instructions, I installed the Pro Power gadget in my doorbell chime unit without issue. I believe this is needed to enable the Ring Pro to activate the mechanical doorbell chime. I connected the first Ring Pro device to the doorbell wiring at my back door and did the setup according to the voice prompts and instructions. It connected to my WiFi network with no problem and within a minute or two it was working like a charm. Here's where it gets interesting. I went to install the second unit on my front door and came to a full stop. I learned that Ring does not support the use of TWO Ring Pro cameras with the standard doorbell wiring! This is not mentioned anywhere in their literature or in an obvious place on the website. It turns out you have to install a SECOND doorbell transformer so that each Ring Pro unit has it's own power source. That would be fine, except that most homes only have two wires running between the transformer and the chime unit. My home is a bungalow and the basement ceiling is suspended, so I was able to run an additional pair for the second transformer (although it was a fair amount of work!). Once I got that done, i installed a second Pro Power unit inside the chime and proceeded to install the second Ring Pro unit on my front door. The cameras now work fine on both doors, but it was an unexpected hassle to have to do this. One other caveat: these things require a very strong WiFi signal and a very good Internet connection in order to work properly. Even though all of the other WiFi devices in my home (computers, phones, TV boxes) were working just fine with my existing WiFi network, I had to add a second access point in order to make both Ring Pro units work reliably. I guess this would depend on the size of your home and placement of your doorbells relative to your WiFi access point(s) but I did not expect to have to do this. The Ring iPhone app allows you to configure motion zones, check device health and live monitor the cameras. It mostly works well, except the live monitor feature sometimes does not load immediately which is most annoying. Sometimes it is instantaneous, other times it takes a couple of minutes to show the video feed and is blocky when it does. This *may* relate to whatever else you are running on your WiFi network at the same time (heavy Netflix streaming perhaps), but I'm not certain of this. I've only had them running for about 2 weeks now, so I will continue to monitor them. They have a 30 day return policy and if it keeps on doing this, i'll send them back. The Ring Pro units are capable of detecting and installing firmware updates over the WiFi network which is good. Both units did in fact ship with older firmware and successfully updated themselves shortly after installation. If the live view issue is firmware-related, it may be improved in a future release. Hope this helps!

Live view does not work with 4G

It's a great idea. However, live view did not work on my Samsung S7 with the 4G. Works with wifi but it means you can't answer the door bell if you're away from home on 4G/LTE. That was mainly the reason I had bought it. I contacted ring and Telus with no resolution. Also night vision is black and white. Daytime sometimes coloured depending on light conditions. Clarity is very good since I have a strong wifi signal.

No good if you live in the Rural areas

We were not aware and the store attendants did not tell us that if you live in the country, most likely the Ring Pro will not work. The fastest upload we can get in the rural area is 1 Mbps upload speed and the Ring Pro requires a minimum of 2 Mbps upload in order to have Live Video feed. This is a great product if you live in the urban areas, but terrible and useless in the Rural Areas. We only found this out after we installed, and then due to all the issues, we contact Ring Pro directly discovered this to be our problem. Best Buy needs to educate their Customer Representatives or provide honest information. If we would have known this in advance, we would never had bought this product.

Awesome product, even better support.

The Ring Doorbell Pro is an amazing product with 1080p video and notifications sent to my iPhone where I can interact with the person at my door. I had some issues at install including an incompatible doorbell which was resolved by buying a new supported model. The key to Ring is the company behind the products and their support. When I was having trouble with getting video at times they sent me a free wifi extender. When my new doorbell would only ding and not dong they sent me a free Ring Chime. Because of their desire to take care of me I have just ordered the Ring Stick Up Cam to monitor my driveway and if that works as I expect will order another 1 or 2 for the back yard. And their Cloud fees are the most reasonable of all companies I researched making it very affordable.

Disappointed

Good idea, poor execution. Lost connection 3 times in first 6 days of use which doesn't help when you are at work trying to check up at home. In order to reconnect, needed to unscrew faceplate and hit reset button. Needs stronger WiFi connection and 1080p and they might be onto something. Night vision is very poor for low light areas considering what they were advertising. For an extra couple hundred, there are wireless systems that are way better and you can get more than one camera.

Works great ! (after troubleshooting)

- The video quality is excellent - There is very little to no delay to have a notification on my phone when someones rings at the door - The sound quality is so-so, but acceptable - Design : looks awesome - Didn't try the motion sensor (I don't need it) - Visitors are very impressed by it ;) That being said, with new products like this, it is expected that you will have a good amount of troubleshooting to do. And you will have to play a bit with the electricity in your house. If you want a product that can be installed in a minute and works like a charm instantly, do NOT buy any home automation products. Please keep that in ming when you read negative revierw that state "It doesn't work"; I suspect most people to have no patience for troubleshooting. To consider : - You need near-perfect Wi-Fi connection at the doorbell. Which means you'll probably have to buy a Wi-Fi repeater and place it right next to the door, on the inside. - Ring Pro supposedly requires 16V AC. My doorbell transformer is 10 V AC. For me, it works anyway. - It slightly changed the sound of my mechanical chime (same sound, but more sudden and shorter). - You need to install a "Pro power kit" (included) on your chime. Easy to do with the included instructions. - Wiring at the door can be a difficult, because there is very little room and short cables. But you'll manage eventually. - I had no choice on the location/position of the doorbell because the wires from my house are so short. But the video angle of the Ring doorbell is so wide that it doesn't matter. e.g. for me, the doorbell is at the height of my elbow, but on the video I see the full person.

Know who's at your door when you're not home.

I've been eyeing up the Ring non-pro for close to a year now and when the Ring Pro was announced it had significant upgrades over the non-pro. Smaller, 1080p, and custom motion zones. Overall the installation was super easy. However, the only issue I had was with the 5GHz connection to my ASUS RT-68U it worked for a bit then stopped. The 2.4GHz is stable and haven't had an issue since. Another thing that is kind of weird is the few second delay before the hardwired doorbell rings, the random false alarms when a big bug around, and during sunset and dawn. Anyways, this works well and does what it needs to do and it's good to keep a log of who comes to your door.
