Headband cracks and will eventually break

There is a known issue with these headphones that affect serial numbers 5000001 - 5256984. If you've already bought one that is within this range, but do not notice any cracks, return them if possible or start using them more frequently. IMO it's inevitable that they will break and it would be unfortunate to be out of warranty when they do. Sony should do the right thing and have a recall, but they most likely won't. Though the MDR-1000X's are on sale right now, it's probably best just to get the new model (WH-1000MX2) just to be safe. Though these headphones sound fantastic, have great noise cancellation and are very comfortable, the poor build quality renders all that moot.

One of A Kind

At its appearance it looks formidable: it is pricey; it is big. However once put it on the fears are all surprisingly gone with its amazing sound quality and comfort. The easy setup, freedom of wireless, and the convenience of the touch of button of self control make myself instantly lose in a truly crystal-clear authentic sound of music world. Thanks Sony for making this one of a kind product. And thanks Bestbuy for an amazing sales event.

Extremely happy!

I bought these to use on a 6hr flight overseas. It worked perfectly as expected. The features of touch controls and voice filtering are extremely cool. No creaks or any deficiencies noticed. The battery worked both ways with no additional charge. Before buying I compared the Bose wireless set at a Best Buy shop. The same store noise was cancelled better by the Sony set, hands-down.

These are the ones.

Reading about them is one this, listening to them is another. They are pricey, but most things worth getting are. Do yourself a favor and hit these up.

Amazing musicality!

Absolutely Amazing sound quality and musicality. I tested these along side the Beats Studio Wireless and preferred the Sony's. It's personal preference of course, but I was surprised as I already own a set of Beats wired headphones which I love... but the Sony wireless won me over. Excellent noise cancellation. Excellent battery life... lasts for days if not weeks. Great bass. Very clear, you can hear every instrument. I listen to EDM, Dance, Club, Rock, Top 40, Old School and Freestyle... theses headphones are great for all those genres.

World of MY OWN

Over the Ear Headphone 1stly is the best as it includes both the outer and inner ear usage, with it being light is an added bonus. Quality of sound unspeakable and it does transfer oneself into "A WORLD OF THEIR OWN" ......... need I say more

Please Read

Personally I do think like being called an internet troll like the one reviewer called me and others who had issues with these headphones. Truth is these headphones creaked terribly after a short period of using them. I would not recommend them and am happy with my Bose QC35. Read about this issue on the internet we are not alone.

I'll keep it but it's not perfect!

Comfort wise, it's not necessarily the best, but other than that, it does its job. It cancels out noise, the ambient sound feature freaks me out every time but after a while I got used to it and it kind of became a part of me. Haven't used it out in public just yet, but it's very nice! Sound recording is a little crackly, but it's not meant to make studio recordings. Great product! Bought it on sale, but probably would not buy it full price.

Great sound and noise cancelling options

For me these headphones are confortable enough, i normally used them at the office for about 6 hrs. the different noise cancelling modes are handy, i can hear the subway announcements without problems while enjoying my music. Bluetooth range is another amazing characteristic of these headphones.

Sound Great! But uncomfortable and creaky!

I bought these headphones about three days ago, they were a little uncomfortable but i thought it was just cause they were new and they would break in. The music sounded great on them and the noise canceling was better than the QC35. after two days the right ear cup started creaking whenever i move, over the next day it was unbearable and just too annoying.

Excellent Headphones

Comfortable for long periods of use. Sound is much better than Bose wireless NC headphones, fuller and deeper. Sony could take a lesson from Bose on making Bluetooth connections and switching devices easier for Apple devices. Really like the ability to simply touch one side to hear external sounds. Although the weight and feel are nice they seem a bit larger than what they need to be. I haven't had any problem with creaking other users are reporting.

I dont know what all these negative reviews are about, just internet trolls who cant afford them, so they come on and write bad reviews? I can say that I have owned these headphones for 4 months now, best pair of over ear headphones I have ever owned. Period. The sound quality is fantastic. I also like that they are not marketed as a studio headphone, however, they do have studio quality sound! The longest i have worn them so far was 21 hours no-stop flight from Vancouver to Melbourne, Australia. They are so comfy I actually fell asleep with them on for about 6 hours no problem. The noise cancelling is much better than the bose QC35's, plus, its Sony guys! PS4, Bravia TV's. My next purchase I think might be one of these fancy new walkmans with the DAC so i can really experience what Sony's talking about. If you have read my whole review, thank you. I was hesitate to buy them as well because of the price but, i finally did it and, i am unbelievably happy I did. The sense engine is amazing too, along with Ambient Noise, and dont even bring up Battery life!!! I personally think it might be better than 20hrs even with noise cancelling on! There is NO creaks at all by the way. Haha just to clear that up. Ive got probably 100hrs into these and no creaks at all. Love the case too, the slim profile makes it super easy to store. :) Thanks BestBuy and THANK YOU Sony

Uncomfortable and Creaky

Returned to Best Buy after 4 days. They started to creak at the hinges when I made slight movements. Others have complained online about it too. I could only listen for an hour a day because I found them tight and they gave me headaches. The sound was better than Bose QC35, features ok but I think the ANC is better on Bose QC35. the ability to shut off ANC on Sony was nice. The Bluetooth distance is superior to Bose QC35. I can't recommend these based on my experience of pain and creaky hinges. I am now a Bose QC35 owner. My first Bose product ever.

I bought these headphones after reading how much better they are compared to Bose QC35. When I put them on they hurt because they compress more then Bose. I actually got a headache after an hour of use. The MDR 1000x headphones on day 4 started to creak at the hinges. I even tried playing my music loud to avoid it. any movement of the head caused issues. Google creaking on MDR 1000x and you will see others complaining. I can't recommend these.

Pricey but worth it!

I did a good amount of research when deciding whether to buy the Sony MDR 1000x or the Bose QC35's. My in depth research concluded that these headphones are better in terms of ANC (active noise cancellation), sound quality, and overall aesthetics. It's arguable that the comfort level of the MDR 1000x, compared to that of the QC35's is slightly lower, however, I personally couldn't notice much of a difference. With a brushed metal headband and plush foam cushions, the MDR 1000x is fairly stylish and comfortable. The features of these headphones are what set it apart in my opinion. The ability to swipe for volume changes and tap for play/pause really do make it outmatched in regards to technology. Along with the ability to cover the right ear piece for letting in outside sound, these headphones also allow the user to use ANC when plugging in with the included 3.5mm wire. Overall, the build quality, aesthetics, and impressive touch features make these headphone's a great competitor to the Bose QC35's. They are expensive however, which may make many hesitant to buy them in the first place

Best Sound and Noise Cancellation

I had this for a month now. Has excellent sound quality even on a bluetooth connection. Supports apt-x and ldac for high definition wireless audio. I can listen to my hi-res audio without sacrificing quality over bluetooth. The noice cancellation works perfectly. The optimizer works as advertised and needs to be run only once.

Amazing noise cancelation, sound, and comfort!

These headphones are the absolute best! They have amazing sound and block out pretty much everything. Also they are very comfortable. When you have to talk to someone, you just put your palm on the right ear cup and it turns off the ANC and volume so you can have a conversation without removing the headphones. Touch controls on the right earpad is great!. In my opinion these are better than the Bose QC 35s.

Wireless headphone

Overall amazing headphones. Noise canceling is excellent. Feel more premium than Bose qc35. A bit pricing but you gotta love the button feel control.
