Sony PS-LX3000 USB Turntable

Works OK for the money but to transfer the record to computer etc. takes a big learning curve.

Glad to have Sony PS-LX300 USB Turntable

I am very satisfied with this new turntable, a Sony PS-LX300 USB Turntable, that I bought in Best Buy during my last visit in Ottawa, Canada last July 2016. The vinyl records that I play sound better than the way they used to when I was a kid using an old phonograph. Every instrument in an orchestral music is distinctly audible. The voice of the singer is enchantingly marvelous. I am more delighted with its capability to digitize the records. Once converted into an MP3 or WAV file, the sound becomes even better. The luster and the crisp of the original vinyl records are retained making the old sound new as though the vintage song being played is a current hit. Thanks, Sony, for coming up with a product like this.

Does just what it's supposed to

Looks great, feels solid, easy to assemble. Even better, it sounds awesome! I'd forgotten how good vinyl sounds on a decent player. Very satisfied!

Works Good, RPM slightly off

The player works good, was easy to set up, and plays the records good. Only complaint is the fact that the RPM is off just enough to make any song sound slightly out of key.

Great Addition to my Sony Stereo System

Needed a record player for my old Sony Stereo. Easy set-up and works great. Loved the fact that you can import all your records into digital format but have not tried that at all. Low on my priority list. Works great for me.

Gets the job done with a little elbow grease

Picked this up to archive my aging collection of LPs and it works reasonably well, but the included software is anything but plug & play so expect to do some homework on how to get the file output you want from it. The software filters for cleaning up the audio seem fine, but the track identifying process flat out doesn't work and there is no way from within the Vinyl recording tool to adjust the track limits prior to automatically creating the individual tracks. So far, the best way I've found is to let the tool do it's thing, but don't bother creating the tracks. Once the tool is closed you can then go back and adjust the "regions" (individual tracks) manually, highlight the regions and copy/paste them into a new instance, and then "save as" the file type you want. I've also been using foobar2000 to properly tag the individual files and then convert them from WAV to MP3 and Flac. Don't forget to go back and clean up the wav files afterwards otherwise you're going to fill up your HDD/SSD in short order. As far as the hardware goes.... I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of recording through the USB. It's not fully audiophile quality, but it seems to be outputting as well as the line out/in analog signal. Overall I'd recommend this to somebody who either knows their way around PC audio software, or who isn't afraid to learn. I'd have a hard time recommending it to somebody who expects the process to be as easy as ripping a CD.

Perfect for what I wanted

I have a couple hundred old LPs I've wanted to play and convert to MP3's. This turntable allowed me to connect it to my stereo amp and USB it to my computer at the same time. The sound through the stereo is as good as I remember from playing albums in the 1970s. The software install for the USB connection was pretty straight forward. I let the software figure out the recording levels and it does a decent job. The only fault is it's finding the breaks between songs, it gets it wrong 100% of the time. But, using the cut/paste in the edit it's easy to save the individual songs.

Would not buy again

First off, I'm relatively new to records, so it's possible there's an easy fix to my issue. It looks good, but after owning this for just over a month, I'm having serious audio issues. The speed of the LP's seems to speed up/reduce on all records once they hit the half-way point of playback (i.e. song 2/3). The tray seems to wobble quite a bit which has no effect on the earlier tracks, but causes instrumentals to play out of key later on.

Light Tonearm

My only real complaint is the tonearm is way too light and there's no adjustment such as tracking weight and anti-skate. I had to use a little blu-tack under the cartridge to weigh it down, seems to work okay now.

OK. ..

I own a few turntables from the 80s. I picked this up for the USB connection. The table is ok. The sound isn't anything to rave about. All 3 of my 80s turntables sound dramatically better... The table... on a select few records, has skating issues. The Police records are particularly bad offenders. I have the different albums in near mint condition with no scratched... and it hits patches where the needle will skate across. This doesnt happen with the older turntables. They have controls which control anti skating and how it tracks... The Sony has no such ability. I have found companies that make replacement cartridges for this table contrary to other reviews.. they just aren't Sony. Which is actually a good thing. Overall I bought this to have rough copies of my large collection of vinyl... and for the most part it does its job... but you are likely to find the occasional record or scratch that the player finds more of an issue than it should.

Solid choice

This is a very solid unit. Well built, nice features and well priced. I haven't tried the USB feature yet so I can't comment on that. The audio cable could be a bit longer and I don't like the fact that it is hard wired to the unit.

Happy

Overall happy with this turntable purchased after my 40 yr old turntable died. Only complaint is the software provided to record music to computer. I have found this software difficult to use and am looking for a more user friendly program. The turntable itself is easy to use, sounds great and looks too.

Don't damage the needle

It's a good value with a great sound, but if you damage the needle they don't have a replacement! When I contacted them they suggested I buy a new turntable entirely, which I won't now.

Sony USB Turntable PS-LX300

Easy to use. Very pleased with the quality of the sound after recording vinyl to mpeg. Software is a little tricky - tends to pick up quiet moments in a song as another track which causes issues if you want to 'shuffle'. Has given my albums a new lease on life but does take time and patience to record.

This product is wonderful, I couldn't resist buying a second for my bathroom! I am in a inner turmoil with myself on whether or not I should buy a third. I highly recommend this product!

Great buy

This turntable is fantastic! Easy to use, and you can play the records through your PC, and record them to MP3. The audio quality through my amp and speakers is amazing. If you are a fan of vinyl, and you want a quality turntable at a great price, I recommend this product.
