We have purchased a number of these Sony Walkman's over the years for our daughter with extremely sensitive ears to various noises. The Walkman works as a buffer and is extremely helpful when we are out and about. This model's battery does not last for a day, we have to bring a portable battery backup just in case it dies. Definitely disappointed that the price is higher than previous models and quality is lower.

Piece of junk

I use to purchase the Sony walkmans for ease of use and functions. However, this new model is missing all the important functions I liked in the previous model. I am so disappointed. Why include a video screen if you can only show photos and NOT play videos! Also there is no clock display. How cheap can you get? I won't be buying this agian.

Cheaper, inferior product compared to previous products in the same price range

I was very disappointed to see that this product is cheaper looking and lacking a lot of features previous models in the same price range had. To name a few: the features were stripped to music only, while other models had video etc.; custom equalizer features are more robust and while I was able to upload the music in WAV format, I was not able to attach original artwork to the recordings or assign labels to recordings through Sony's own software (which I was able to do on the previous models). Music quality seems to be better suited to play with bass boost than without (which was also not the case with previous models). If you want a player of a quality comparable to the previous models in this price range, you now have to buy a player that is 2 to 3 times more expensive.

I had the previous version of the Sony Mp3 player and I loved it however, I unfortunately lost it and purchased this one as a replacement, it is more expensive than the other one but the quality is cheaper, it feels more flimsy and I can't find out how to play ( if this one has that feature) videos like the other which was simple, nor does it have a clock. I am not sure if the sound quality is the same or not because I don't have great quality earphones. I do like the equalizer features and the radio is good, and it isn't complicated to use. Overall it's more expensive for less quality and features than the previous version, it isn't worth the money.

Sony Walkman

I bought Sony Walkman for my son and he said it is great. Absolutely no problems.

Poor quality ear buds

Received this as a Christmas gift this year. I had the previous model made of metal for many years and loved it. Only needed to replace it as the battery would not hold a charge for long anymore. New model is all plastic and is smaller than the previous model. Ear buds are terrible. they are made of hard plastic and almost impossible to keep in your ears even when wearing a touque. Glad I kept the ones I had before as they are gel and work much better and sound better

Cheaper than prior model

Prior model was a metal-case workhorse that lasted 8 years. This new model is all plastic casing. However it loads it's software much faster than my older model.

The furnished earplugs pose a problem; as for the rest, the Sony is good

The Walkman is very practical comparably to the former one that I owned. I had an ancient stick, powered by an AAA battery and having a narrowed rectangular basic display. The NWE394 player's main menu conveniently allows for a direct choice making. One can pick up the lecture that he wants to listen to as he wills and within seconds. The display is compact and sufficiently wide. Its brightness when set to the minimum would have offered, still, a very clear picture during the night. The quality of the sound is as expected of a Sony: Cristal clear and fairly loud. The earbuds, however, must have a low impedance. The set works perfectly with the furnished small ones and not with large headphones. Still, the weak point of Sony with that product is that they did not think about the inconvenience that the earplugs could cause one to experience meanwhile jogging! They slide and fall off so often that one really loses his temper! Sony came up with a basic design that provides them with an annoying poor ability to fit to the ear-shape and hold. Actually, I had to order ear-hooks to get them fixed and enjoy a very comfortable listening experience. The price is costly and a more generous discount will, for sure, make the product look more attractive.

Sony Walkman 8GB Digital Music Player (NWE394/B) - Black

Pros: 1. Once the library of music has been created the first time, the player remembers it and does not recreate it each time you turn it on (like in the past). 2. I was surprised to see that for such a small unit, besides the presets, I could set my own equalization. Cons: 1 The unit feels very flimsy for the money. I am buying a protective case to store it in while it's in the car. The previous version I owned for many years felt like it was made of sturdier material. 2. Very expensive

Cheaply made, battery doesn't last

Sound is good with other headphones. Battery lasts about 5 hours, not the 35 claimed.

NOT what expected

I ordered this MP3 online for my husband's birthday and we returned it because the quality is not what we expected for the price and shuffle does not work properly.
