Not Worth The Money

Before I bought my camera I did plenty of research comparing different models, reading customer reviews etc. The F750 seemed kind of pricey but its list of features and glowing customer reviews made it seem like a good buy so I bought it on that premise. What a mistake! The video quality is terrible (equally so in all lighting conditions) and in my opinion looks like an animated watercolour painting. Road signs are often difficult to read and if I'm at a red light I need to be practically touching the bumper of the vehicle in front of me in order for its licence plate to even be semi legible. The F750's other features are fine and I have no complaints there but let's face it this thing is supposed to be a camera first and that's exactly where I feel that this model fails. I'm pretty sure that HD stands for High Definition but I'm not sure Thinkware realizes that because I'm pretty sure I could capture similar quality footage with a camera phone from 2003 (if I could find one that old). This is my first experience with Thinkware and also my last. Very dissatisfied with this product.

Great dash camera

Have it for 2 weeks, got the rear view camera too. The cameras are working great, very good video quality. Installed for parking mode hardwiring, it is working very well. Very satisfied, it worth the money.

its got the Cool factor, but...

Bought for lane change, police warning, heat resistance, and stationary impact recording. Turned the lane change and collision off after first use, went off all the time and the collision warning on lowest setting would drive a granny crazy. nice phone app and integration. Police warning never worked. The recordings are automatically 1 min only - not so great. The biggest fault is the mem card - system requires a mandatory reformatting EVERY month! And often did not recognize the supplied mem card after reformatting - a really pain in the... I would not waste money on the high end versions again.

I hate to admit it

I bout this with the idea of returning it in a cpl days. I drive a big rig and it worked really good at night. I was surprised. View covered the entire road. Set up was very simple and I am going to be able to move it between the Truck and my car. I hate to admit it, but it seems worth the cost.

Excellent camera

Not sure what the negative reviews are about. Perhaps people are reviewing a different camera or simply do not know how to use the software for it. The video quality is extremely clear when being viewed on a pc. If you are just streaming the video in "live mode" to a smartphone, the quality is reduced so do not think that is the actual quality being recorded. Night viewing is also excellent. Only complaints I have are that you cannot turn off all of the LED's that light up and the 3M tape is not black or clear, it is grey. Makes this device stand out a lot on your windshield. So much for being stealth.

The All-in-One package dash cam

I bought one and showed it to 10 of my friends and they all buy one too specially when it was on sale. Some reviews says that GPS doesn't work and its video clarity is low. 1st GPS works perfect. You just have to install the software in your computer and voila! While watching your videos you can see exactly where you are including time and vehicle speed. 2nd the video is 1080p even at night it's clear, no night vision though. But, what ever you see when you are driving is the video you will expect. So many features that other dash cams don't have so I guess the price is not really that bad. The only thing i don't like is,the annoying alarm every time you hit a pothole or when its raining or when snowing.

Excellent Dash Cam, But Missing A Few Features

Let me start out by saying that this Dash Camera is one of the best around. Using it here in KW/Cambridge, it works excellent for the speed cameras and red light cameras. It warns you well in advance of them. Video quality is great in the day, so-so at night. There are brightness sliders that you can turn up if you do a lot of night driving. Works well with my 64GB Sandisk SD Card.. The WiFi is great and pretty quick if you have a faster smartphone. Test with Android with a OnePlus One, no issues. The video break up is about 1 minute, 83mb/piece at 1080p/30fps. Makes it easy to go through the timestamped videosto find a particular video you want without the need of third party software to trim the video if you are posting to facebook/youtube etc. Con: The only thing this is missing is GPS Speed/Coordinates overlay on the video itself. The speed will show up in the software on PC/MAC but it WILL NOT show in the recorded video as an overlay. I emailed the company suggesting they add this because much cheaper cameras do this out of the box. All in all, great purchase. I would suggest purchasing the hardwiring kit, instead of using the cigarette lighter. Most vehicles cut power to the cig lighter when powered off (like my Fiat 500) so you will lose Parking Mode and motion detection features. I disabled front collision warning and lane sway detection as these gave a lot of false positives. There is a button to also enable and disable voice recording. It will save the setting between power cycles.

reviews are confusing

Ok guys I have researched many dash cams and have used a number and I was very disappointed with this one, first off i'll tell everyone not to buy this one,esp for the price, obviously all the award stickers on the box mean nothing. I found the quality on this camera very bad,esp in low light and darkness,it got so bad that in darkness with street lights quality was so bad it showed fuzz and lines across the screen, thought it was faulty model but tried two more and same thing,hd quality is only good when light is very bright, but if sun or anything bright crosses sensor you can see what I mean,it fuzz's screen as sensors try to adjust. Wifi is glitchy, still can't get it to work right. And the GPS? lol, what GPS? I can't get it to display my speed even when I use firlware on computer, very crappy dash cam, stay away from this one guys.

Thinkware Full HD 1080p MUST BUY

I have been surprised by the ease and very good quality and features of this product. While it does not have a display (thought that would be an issue) it really does not matter. Decent iOS app, had some issues getting Wi-Fi to work at 1st. Great hardware and video quality. Really nice feature set. Like how it attaches to the windshield with tape rather than suction. IOS app is full-featured. I prefer the computer software. I bought the external power cable to power it from my car's battery, have not installed that yet. As well as an extra mount for use on my recreational vehicle.

After doing exhaustive research I decided on this manufacturer. This is a great unit. Video quality is fantastic. Very easy to setup and install. Unlike many dashcams they are applied with a suction cup which aren't always overly secure. This Thinkware Cam attaches with 3M tape-its not going anywhere. So far the unit has been very reliable with no glitches. I really like the GPS database for Red Light Camera locations--very handy. Unfortunately, their is not a database for the mobile roaming Photo Radar--due to the roving nature of the units it would be difficult to provide reliability but a "heads up" would be nice. I haven't had need to test the Lane Departure Warning function yet but have turned on the Front Collision Warning System and it works well. I didn't purchase the rear camera but maybe in the future. If your planning on using the Parking Surveillance Mode you will need to purchase a hardwired installation kit separately. All in all I have no regrets purchasing this unit and would highly recommend it.

I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews on dash cams and this came on top of my list for the following reasons: Features: 1080p Full HD & Full HD 2CH Sony xmor cmos Dual save technology 2 channel recording capability Cortex A8 CPU (20 seconds or less boot time to start recording) Road Safety Warning System Safety Camera Alert Built-in WiFi (Connect your smartphone for live view) Built-in GPS This is the best dash cam that I have ever owned, get it and will not disappoint. Thanks to Bill & Winnie of Thinkware Technical Support for all your help.

I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews as well as to what is the best dash cam for the money, and this dash cam came on top of my list, so run to best buy and bought this one and did not disappoint, set up and install was easy but mine took awhile because I want mine with a clean install all wires were tucked in and fished through the grommet, sure looks like an OEM install. Built is solid and resolution is for sure far more clearer and superior, boot time is only 20 seconds or less and starts recording just before you pull out of the parking lot compared to those cheap dash cams you could buy for a fraction of the price. Had a bit of issue updating the firmware but the customer service is awesome thanks to Bill & Winnie who have been very hopeful and patient walking me through it, I have to call them a couple of times and they have always been very helpful, further more they call you back when they said they'd call you. I highly recommend this product and for sure will not disappoint.

Thinkware F750 plus rear camera review

This is a very well engineered and well built product unlike many out there. You get what you pay for in life and this is no exception. Although a bit large in size, it provides for superb video both front and rear. It's great to see the video on your ipad right when something happens versus putting the card into a laptop which you may not have with you. The only criticisms are minor..... 1- Sensitivity of the motion detector and parking incident recordings are much too high even at their lowest settings 2- The camera like many others is sensitive to the make of SD card used. Buy it with the size of card you want right up front 3- Additional mounts are not easily obtainable at the time of this writing. This product is engineered to withstand the extreme temperatures of an enclosed car on a hot summer day, which makes me confident that it will function for a long time. It uses a more suitable capacitor in place of a battery I'm sure future software upgrades will solve any minor existing problems. And oh yes, their service is REAL and good

Excellent product

I have had the F750 and rear camera installed professionally now for about two weeks. Below are some initial comments; 1- Both motion detection and parking incident are far too sensitive even at their lowest setting. After 12 hours,it fills up the allocated memory allotment of the card. So if you were at a motel for the night, you would need to attend to this first thing in the morning to clear the memory. 2- The video quality is very good to excellent, and it looks like an extremely well built product that I get the feeling will last over time (unlike a couple of cheapos I own) 3- Their customer service is real. They do answer emails within 24 hours 4- The unit is sensitive to make of memory cards. I cannot get a Lexar 64 Gig card to work at all. Buy it with the largest card you will want bundled in. 5- The front camera is relatively large and definately visible from the outside if that bothers you in any way.I don't know if this would attract thieves or not... 6- The accompanying software is good and works on both Mac and Windows unlike some other units. 7- This is a true "set it and forget it" unit. It was relatively expensive compared to a lot of makes, but you generally get what you pay for. 8- Extra mounts for the main camera unit are non existent at the moment Given the number of cheap knockoffs on the market,I felt more comfortable in buying a known, quality product, and so far, it does what it is designed to do, With hopefully future firmware upgrades, they will solve the relatively minor issues that bother me. And kudos for real customer service !!
