i called every store in ontario not one is avaliable, are they really on sale and do they really have them
I have an old ToshibaTV, bought it 10 years ago and it is still as clear as when I bought it. It is still in my bedroom. So now, I bought a 65inch Toshiba 4K UHD and I am so impressed with the resolution. Even movies on Netflix are so much alive. The price of Toshiba is cheaper than the others. I am enjoying my TV and could not wait for my movie night at home.
I am so happy I bought the 4 year extended warranty for this pile of garbage. Within 2 months of use, the led screen stopped functioning. After reading reviews, I decided it was best to purchase the extended warranty through Geek Squad. Turns out that warranty is worthless. Within a year, the tv is still under Toshiba warranty. After waiting 8 working days for a technician to arrive to tell me it was broken, they said it would be another 10-15 business days to order replacement parts, if possible. If not, I was to wait for head office to approve an exchange, and then for the local store manager to contact me. 16 days later, and I have called and talked to so many "managers", that apologize for the "inconvenience", and that there is "nothing they can do". Not only was this tv a joke, but so has their customer service. This seems like a great tv for the money. Don't be fooled. Save your money, and buy elsewhere.
Oh, and the frame rate was slow, picture was lacking, and that white spot is totally noticeable. On the upside, the Chromecast was a great addition.
So, don't purchase this tv, don't bother with the extra protection plan, and don't waste your time with the horrible customer service.
Like others have said, I would give this tv a zero rating, if I could.
Definitley well worth the money, picture quality is great for UHD, only thing its 60HZ but can't complain very crisp and sounds great no need for sound bar.
I bought this tv without looking at the reviews... now I can say, i'll never do this again! I have ALL the problems I see here with other customers!
- The "flashlight/white spot" in middle of the screen when darker.
- TV close and open just for fun, anytime, but mostly minutes after opening it.
- Image get blurry every now and then. Just like a bad printed journal when colors arent aligned.
Toshiba isn't what it was, this is very bad for them. They should recall this model asap!
Would give 0 star if I could.
piece of junk, does not worth at all for any price
Returned this TV because there was a giant flashlight effect in the middle of the screen on black screens (like they do in movies between scenes sometimes) , this is unacceptable and Toshiba should not be shipping junk like this. i saw another person complaining about the same thing on this forum. Otherwise the picture was acceptable, sometimes looked washed out depending on the video.
I don't know if this is a defect just found on some of these TV's or if they have a design flaw but I did not feel like bothering by trying out other sets, it is a big job to pack and more a TV this big. For some people this feature may not bother them but I'm not one of them.
I have had this unit for 6 weeks and it has worked flawlessly! Picture is very good and Sound is as good if not better and more customizable than my 60" Samsung or
55" LG. Remote is fine and Easy to use and I like that I can also use my iPhone as a remote! Chrome cast is ok
And easy to set up.
When a dark scene is playing there is a large white spot (about 1 foot wide) in the middle of the screen, I have seen another reviewer complaining about the same problem on this site. So it appears that Toshiba's 65 inch 4K TV has a recurring problem. This is unacceptable and these TV's should be recalled. I am going to return this TV and get a refund. Because of the large white spot on the screen I am giving this TV a 1 star rating.
Other than that, the TV seems good, the picture is sharp with nice colour and the built in chromecast works find. I think having internet browsing built into smart TV's is a waste of money unless you don't own a laptop or tablet etc. Navigating most smart TV's internet is cumbersome and slow as you have to type each letter with a pointer unless your TV can work with a wireless keyboard.
Have owned for about 6 months now, Bought to replace aging Sony. Works great. Have had no problems. Google cast works great. Very happy with product !
Purchased this TV in Sept. 2016, and I have had nothing but problems with it. Right off the bat the TV picture gets distorted randomly badly to the point that you cant watch it and turns on and off by itself. I tried changing HDMI cables and even the receiver box, but no change. Had the techs come out to the house and they said that there are no parts to fix the issues. Therefore I am returning it and getting something else. Everyone that I have spoken to at several stores have said to stay away from this TV. I guess you get what you pay for as this TV continues to drop in price.
won't make it a month get da warenty
Picked this up on a flash sale and it was well worth it. It replaced an LG 55 inch 4K television and I couldn't be happier. TV picture is vibrant and has excellent colour reproduction and is sharp and detailed. It is a great panel and would recommend picking this one up especially if you can find it on sale. It's a real bargain. I read some people mention issues with the chrome cast and remote. I experienced a problem with the remote and the TV not turning on but that was until I did the update. After the update the TV no longer had any issues so it was just a software issue. Additionally the chrome cast works just fine but just make sure you update the tv when you get it. The value is unmatched and I highly recommend the tv for the value it brings along with picture quality.
Currently on my 4th one of these. All had issues with flaslighting and/or vertical banding. 3rd one I got had a huge white spot in the center of the screen. 4th one I got had good black uniformity, vertical banding wasn't as bad as the others but still frustrating during panning shots and hockey games.
Decided I would stick with this one as it was the best of the bunch, however a couple days after I purchased it, it started turning itself off and then back on again. Seems to be a common issue so now bot sure whether to return as picture on 5th one will most likely be worse than this one. You get what you pay for. Picture looks awesome but perhaps a more expensive set would cause less frustration.
Not sure why the negative reviews. It is a great 4K TV for the price. Simple to set up. The built in Chromecast makes it easy to stream 4K video from netflix
Had tv less than a week and the tv turns itself off and back on three times so far. Periodically, the screen will go blurry for a brief moment. This blurry scenario occurs with programs with minimal to no movement. Disappointing as it takes two people to mount tv on wall and centre properly. Based on reviews I've read so far in this forum, I doubt the support will be helpful.
Thought I would give it a try based on comparisons to other higher priced tvs in the store. Got it home setup was easy. Great picture when compared to my 1080. Colours and definition our outstanding. Watched the hockey game and to my surprise the refresh rate did not produce any noticeable motion blurs. Very pleased with the product. Time will tell if I made the right choice
When I read the negative reviews, I thought wow....maybe Chromecast is tough to set up...? No. It is very easy and took about 3 minutes. "Googlecast not avail in my area" - where do you live, the moon? ....The "not a smart TV" complaint...? who wants to surf the internet with their 65" TV? Yuck. "Simple remote control" complaint? I like it. Most remotes have too many functions that 99% of people never use.
We have ditched cable all together for about 3 years now, don't miss it. No more ads! We run all Mac products, no android, and have had no problem streaming from our phones, iPads or computers to the TV.
Ultimately, for the money, this is the best deal on the market that I could find. Very happy with the quality so far, no complaints. Apparently this unit comes with reg chromecast, and not chromecast ultra....so don't expect to stream in HD from netflix or others at 4K unless you add on a Chromecast ultra.
This is a chromecast television. It is not a full on smart tv. That being said, if you have a PS4 or xbox or laptop or android box or.....it doesn't matter at all. Smart TV's (for the most part) are all pretty stupid and I for one am happy they didn't make me have to pay more to have those features. This Toshiba has a great picture, it's 4K, it's big, and it's cheap. I am VERY satisfied with this TV! I highly recommend.
one of the most garbage TV, sound quality 0
build it Chrome cast is pain in the neck
TV is a good Picture, but it randomly turns itself Off the back On, I've tried everything with the settings, Toshiba's website offers no help at all, it appears to be a common problem with no solution, not worth the money, do yourself a favour buy another brand
Bought this television last week. I read the reviews before the purchase. I am totally satisfied with this purchase. The sound is as good as any flat screen I've ever owned. The picture is vivid when you put it on the dynamic setting. I did not buy it for the Google Cast so I don't really care about that. I bought it for a nice clear picture and that is what I have obtained.
Got it on a great deal with the Polkaudio Soundbar bundle. Didn't expect much from it for the low price point.
But the TV surprised in big time.
Both 4K content and 1080P media played crispy clear and colors are vivid, the build-in Chromecast is actually an equivalent to Chromecast ULTRA, which supports 4K content streaming flawlessly.
Before purchasing, I was a bit concerned about this TV not so-called SmartTV but just a Chromecast one. After using it for a week, I am glad that I chose the Chromecast over "SmartTV", as the ability to use any mobile device, PC, to cast to TV is so easy and convenient. Searching and Navigating on Youtube, Netflix thru mobile devices are so user friendly, no SmartTV can provide comparable experience so far.
Overall, I love this TV.
poor quality - horrible audio, i set the audio top 100 and could barely hear the conversation, it's just a big low quality screen.
warranty is kinda joke, you need to ship your TV to them for repair even in the first year under factory warranty, \if you want them to come to your place you need to pay for that! WTF!!!!!
This is a Best Buy exclusive TV which I purchased Boxing Day as a package with a Pioneer HTP-074 priced at 1399.99 .
Positive: Excellent picture
Negative: Frustrations galore.
This TV did not connect with my Android Tablet...had to purchase a new Android phone to enable "the remote."
Still have problems connecting to Google Home. Too many steps before you "cast."
Recommendation: Buy the LG.
Pretty happy with this TV. I use the sound on the TV and I think it is fine. Most sports look great, although for hockey there are some streaks but you really have to look for it, so dont fixate. For the price it is well worth it.
It's a nice 4K TV for the price. The controls are limited and the remote is very basic, but I'm quite happy with the picture quality and the speakers.
I thought it would be a breeze to connect to this Chromecast stuff and I have one device out of 5 that actually hooks up to this thing. If you are Apple product users do not buy this, I might just have to buy an Apple TV for this tv now. A simple smart TV is way better than this google garbage.
I purchased this recently on sale with a steal of a deal on an XBOX One S when purchased with the TV (why buy a stand-alone UHD Blu-Ray player when you can get an XBOX One S for the same price or less!). The combination deal was hard to pass up. As far as the TV goes, it is a reasonable quality entry level 4K panel, which, for the price, is a good value. The panel is only 8 bit and not capable of HDR or anything higher than 4K 30p, so probably not the best choice if you want all the latest bells and whistles in 4K (but then again, you will pay a lot more for all those bells and whistles). The built in Google Cast works well, and allows any Google Cast enabled app (Netflix and numerous others) to work with the TV. 4K Netflix works well (although you will need an upgraded 4-screen Netflix account and at least a 25 Mbps internet connection). The included remote is pretty bare bones but will give you access to the menu system of the TV where all the key settings are found. The TV does have an ARC-enabled HDMI port to allow audio return to your amp in case you have an older amp that doesn't play nice with 4K HDMI signals. The speakers in the TV are surprisingly good though, and apparently Onkyo-sourced if the literature is to be believed.
All in all a good value for an entry-level 4K TV.
TV quality and TV screen size is brilliant for this price but really is not a smart TV. It only has a CAST installed in it which let you cast anything from your laptop or phone or ipad to the tv from netflix and youtube.
If you can live with it and than you will get nothing better than this for this price.
I bought it over anniversary sale. It is not a smart TV and just a basic TV with good TV result. For some reason whenever I turn it on it keeps going back to standard picture settings (still have to read the manual to sort it though). I would recommend it for its price and quality but if you are looking for smart tv this is not your choice. It only has google cast which you can buy anyway for 45 bucks and plug in hdmi of any tv.
Best deal for a 65" TV out there. Have had the TV for two weeks and extremely impressed with the picture!
Reason it's such a good deal.... Only 60hz. I did not do my research. Other than that it's great.
We have always loved the Toshiba brand and as soon as this 4K became available we made a purchase. Now we have to wait for Fibe tv to become available in our area.
Purchased this TV and spent ours (trying) to set up the Google Cast only to find out it doesn't work in my areas. This is despite and contradicting to what I was told at the store.
THEN, after I get everything else set up and start watching the TV... it dies after 10 minutes. Simply turns itself off and no matter what we try, it will not turn back on. Tried many different things, location, outlets, etc. and nothing!
I'll never buy this brand again and likely won't be going back to Best-buy because of the lies I was told.
What a joke
This TV is a great find and does the job with great picture quality.
I'm a guy who wants a big screen, this delivers just that. I went to the store to take a look at this TV before purchasing and really had a hard time determining the difference between this and sets that were twice as much. I'm a pretty normal guy who works 50 hours a week and just wants to sit and watch the game at night. I'm not obsessive about these things.
The PS4 and Wii U look great, but do not output at 4K. Of course when you buy a 4K TV, you need a 4K source and that's one of the best features of this tv. The built in google cast allows you to show your family and friends 4K content from Netflix and Youtube without having to buy any additional hardware. That's awesome.
Now, as for what's missing. The TV has a nice interface but does not have a lot of options. The remote is pretty bare bones and dosn't even feature numbers for quick inputs for channel selection. The TV itself also only has one physical button to turn on the tv and to select inputs. Should you lose the remote, there's no options for channel/volume changing. I haven't tried a universal remote with it yet.
If you want a nice big TV, this fits the bill. If the small inconveniences are a deal breaker for you? well, then the deals broken I guess. I'm happy with it though and can deal with the missing features.
A 4K TV with composite? Why not have more HDMI or USB ports? Dumbing down a 4K TV is the best way to go? Maybe it was lets be stupid day in the design department when they pass this final product? Just saying. If you have a better reason post it.
I've bought 2 Toshiba led HDTV 50" + and the first didn't make it a year and second just over year and half. I used to really like Toshiba but their quality of product has dropped a lot over last 8-10 years.... I suggest buying a better name brand like Samsung, Sony , LG .
The enclosed information sheet says to go to a Toshiba website to download the manual. The manual DOES NOT exist and getting technical support from Toshiba is Virtually impossible. The picture is good. Says its a "SMART" TV But all it has is Google cast built in NO INTERNET BROWSING. Included stands are small and TV is Wobbly.
