Simple Effective Video Card for older machines

I have a Dell Precision 490 workstation and I wanted to upgrade the video card from a the standard Nvidia Quattro FX3500. The older machine can only accept a card that will fall back to PCI Express 8x so I have tried this card. It works well with video and has more speed and memory than most of the options for this machine. Overall I am very pleased with the performance and the price when on sale.

Very Satisfied

I triple boot my system Vista in 32 bit to play legacy games, Win 7 to get work done and Win 10. This card has consistently excellent drivers. Works without any problems in all 3 OSs. I use a 32 inch Smart TV HDMI for monitor and the graphics are stunning. No problems with powering it as it only requires 25W - check the specs. I would highly recommend this card.

A great card for the price

Reading one of the other reviews speaking about crashes and freezing the problem is obvious. The power supply was inadequate, this product recommends a 400 watt power supply. If your system has an adequate power supply however, this is a surprisingly good graphic card for everyday HTPC use and entry level gaming. The image is bright and crisp and is noticeably better than other cards of similar price range that I have used. Aside from the usage I have described, silence was a vitally important factor for me as this card is used in my living room. With no fan and a large heat sink dissipating heat there is zero noise and no overheating problems. I strongly recommend this product but check your power supply specs first.

A real nice card but read the specs.

It is important to note that a 400 watt power supply is recommended for this graphic card. Once installed it becomes obvious that this is one of the best "0 decibel" (no fan) cards on the market. The main criteria for purchasing this card as a home theater component used in the living room, was no noise whatsoever. Touted by some as an entry level gaming card, my use is primarily video streaming from an HTPC, where it excels. The video image is crisp and bright, the quality is a marked improvement over a number of similarly priced graphic cards I am using or have used. It is all about realistic expectations and fair comparisons. This is a relatively inexpensive card that is one of the best in its price range.......but check your computer's power supply before purchase.

Crashes my Computer

I updated to this video card on my Intel E5200 system. The system crashed with this card so I thought it might have been that my system was to old. Wrong!!! I updated my system with a new ASUS MB and AMD FX8320 eight core CPU and kept the video card, but there is no change. In fact it is worse as the system will hang and I have to reboot. I'm not a gamer so this card has not been taxed it has not been over-heating.
