The Apple Mac mini Packs a Big Punch

The Apple Mac mini is the smallest, most energy-efficient desktop computer around and it’ll make a huge impression. The Mac mini is loaded with all the power, ports, and performance of every Apple computer, so when you pick one up from your local Best Buy, you can be sure that you’re taking home a pint-sized powerhouse that will take on any task.

The Mac mini measures just 19.7 cm square, and 3.6 cm tall, so it will fit just about anywhere. There’s no power brick either, just a cord.

Because of its diminutive size and affordable price, the Mac mini is ideal as a compact desktop PC or a multimedia server. It can even serve as a pro-level desktop workstation! It shines where you need a powerful computing option in a small space. It also delivers the macOS experience in a package where you bring your own favourite keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

The all-new Apple Mac mini with M2 or M2 Pro processors

Apple has recently introduced an all-new Mac mini. The smallest and most affordable Mac is now more powerful than ever, featuring new M2 and M2 Pro processors.

The new Mac mini M2 can be equipped with 8GB up to 24GB of unified RAM, and 256GB to 2TB of SSD storage. The Mac mini M2 Pro offers 16GB of unified memory in its base configuration, configurable to 32GB. SSD storage options for this model range from 512GB to 8TB. Both versions offer all the ports power users need: 2 x USB-C Thunderbolt 4 (four Thunderbolt 4 ports on the Mac mini M2 Pro), 2 x USB Type-A, HDMI 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet, and a headphone jack. Wireless connectivity is via Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E.

The mighty Mac M2 mini can drive two displays simultaneously, one at up to 6K resolution over USB-C, and a second at 4K over the HDMI port. Choose the Mac Mini M2 Pro, and you can connect up to three displays simultaneously — two at 6K and one at 4K — or choose to drive a single 8K display at 60Hz.

What’s different compared to the previous version?

Visually, the new Apple Mac mini is identical to previous versions (other than the two additional USB-C/Thunderbolt ports on the Mac mini M2 Pro). The same sleek block of 100% recycled aluminum, a similarly generous selection of ports, the same ultra-compact footprint. The difference is the use of Apple’s revolutionary M2 and M2 Pro processors. Both new chips deliver next-gen performance gains and include hardware accelerated media processing to speed tasks like ProRes encoding and decoding.

The Mac mini M2 is a compact powerhouse. Its M2 chip features an 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 16-core Neural engine, and faster 100GB/s memory bandwidth. Compared to the previous generation M1 Mac mini, it offers up to 2.4x faster ProRes transcode in Final Cut Pro.

The Mac mini M2 Pro features up to a 12-core CPU, up to a 19-core GPU, and features 200GB/s memory bandwidth. It offers pro-level performance, including up to 4.2x faster ProRes transcode in Final Cut Pro compared to the M1 Mac mini.

With the arrival of the mac Mini M2, Apple has discontinued Intel versions of the mac Mini.
