Destiny Game
Destiny 2
Following the huge success of Destiny and its expansions, Bungie has announced the long-awaited sequel available this year. Destiny 2 promises a fresh start for this beloved franchise, and will take you on an all-new epic journey across the solar system. Given Destiny’s huge fan base (myself included), this surely must be thrilling news to hear. Bungie is specifically designing Destiny 2 to be welcoming to newcomers, and at the same time providing a deep and satisfying experience for veteran players.
Destiny 2 – What we know so far
Probably the biggest question on all of our minds is when will Destiny 2 be available? Bungie has announced a September 8, 2017, launch date with a beta scheduled for this summer. We also know that the first full gameplay reveal is coming via a live stream on May 18. In an exciting move for PC gamers, Destiny 2 will be coming to Microsoft Windows for the very first time. As expected, the game is also releasing on PS4 and Xbox One.
Story details are also beginning to emerge, and things are not looking good for our cherished Guardians. Humanity’s last safe city has fallen to the brutal Ghaul, the commander of the powerful Red Legion. All remaining Guardians in the city have been stripped of their power and forced to flee. It’s you job, as one of these Guardians, to travel to unexplored worlds and reunite humanity’s scattered protectors, while also discovering devastating weapons to turn the tide of war.
While the tone is heavy, Destiny 2 also includes its trademark humour to lighten the mood. In the debut trailer, the fan-favourite character Cayde-6, voiced by Nathan Fillion, gives a hilariously tone deaf rallying speech to Guardians, who look at him with odd bewilderment. It’s great to see this series still mixing in these kinds of comedic moments.
A new adventure begins
The three main character classes—Hunter, Titan, and Warlock—return in all their glory in Destiny 2. You’ll have the option of starting fresh with a new character, or bringing over your character from the original game. Only your character personalization can be imported though, including class, race, gender, face, hair, and marking selections. Other aspects, such as power, possessions, Eververse-related items, and currency will not carry forward.
The rationale behind this is Bungie really wants Destiny 2 to be the start of a new adventure for every player. Expect to learn new stories, acquire new powers, and earn exciting new loot along your journey.
Two expansions planned for Destiny 2
Destiny 2 is just the beginning of your incredible new Guardian adventure. Bungie already has plans for two major expansions. Images released by Bungie indicate that these expansions are associated with familiar characters Osiris and Rasputin. This is exciting news as both of these characters are rather mysterious in the original game, and it’ll be very interesting to learn more about them.
